I had similar things happen like you have. When I was 18 a man in his 30's told me, (you have to be your own man before you can be anyone else's man) that has stayed with all these years and how valuable that advice has been for me. I think being our own man is an ongoing thing whether one likes it or not. Trust in the Lord first and foremost and then in yourself and it all comes together.

I'm a much more natural loner but I still felt that if I didn't find that partner I would be missing out on a big part of life. After enough bad relationships, I stopped looking and just became content with my own company. I'm more than 2 years into my nomadic journey traveling the country in my converted step van and Now I feel lucky to be alone. Women a pain in the ass (in my experience) and now I never have to worry about that ever again. Never being judged and doing exactly as I please is wonderful. Just my thoughts, enjoy your solo journey!

Great message, lots of wisdom here! I'm blessed to have a wonderful wife but throughput my life I've found you can still struggle with loneliness even though not alone. Maturity, getting to really know and understand myself and pursuing a closer personal relationship with Jesus has really helped my loneliness over the years. I talk with the Lord all the time, he's such a good good father and friend.

True, true. Sometimes a scooter ride, another adventure and/or a four legged companion helps leave those feeling behind. But it is up to you to go find them. Seldom come to you.

I've been married 21 years and have felt alone for the majority of it.

Your time spent in front of a camera is paying dividends. You have done the reps and as a long time viewer, I can't be happier to see your channel grow. Keep up with the 'push ups' and maybe we will pass on Gogebic this year. Your channels have legs.

All these people who are content being alone, myself included, makes me think that this is just another way that satan is dividing us.

On moving from place to place to escape the loneliness that follows you: I have noticed over the years that it takes me a fairly predictable length of time to settle in among the people in whatever place I'm living. After that time is reached, it just gets more and more settled, which is nice. But I definitely am familiar with the feeling that I just don't fit in, and that other people are having a lot more fun than I am. I agree that the answer is just to accept that you're a bit of an outsider and make your peace with it. It does make it more natural to be a traveler or tourist, talking with whomever you meet in whatever places you go. So there's that.

What boy didnt read Huck Finn and not want to raft the Mississippi, also read Blackbeard and want to be a Pirate. I can't see my wife doing this as she not a water person . I so wish in my 20's i had this type of information , i so remember reading Dove -Robin Lee Graham sailing around the world.

I used to spend quite a bit of time alone on my sailboat. I would get very lonely. Eventually, I learned to enjoy the solitude, and actually embrace it. Some folks can do that, others, not so much.

Until I turned 36 I worked jobs after the Coast Guard that had decent vacation time and I traveled alone by motorcycle or boat all over the country and sometimes in the islands but I kept thinking it sure would be better if I had someone to share all the wonders that God had out there . On my 36 birthday I met a wonderful adventurer lady that was like minded she had 3 wonderful children that were such a blessing they treated me like I was their father and they encouraged us to enjoy life. We were inseparable up until she passed this January but things had changed she was so sick for years but still I would load us up and go camping, fishing, on cruises we looked like a traveling hospital towards the end even the day before she passed she was planning a camping trip although I knew she would never get to go I encouraged her.

I also am what society labels as a “loaner “ . I have lived aboard a self built boat for over 30 year ,and have gone on many solo voyages .

I am at the same latitude as you, but on the Florida Gulf coast. Been a lifelong boater, now with a smaller 29' trawler (Prairie). "Lonely" discussion is heard and appreciated, as I am also a solo male, albeit older than you. The internet and books both help quite a lot. I read one to two books a week. Kindle is my best friend. Owning a boat can take up all your time, not only with traveling but also with always having to fix stuff and put new stuff in. With the boat and with reading and with KZbin and with podcasts I never get lonely anymore. Safe travels. You are heard and appreciated.

The band "the Steel drivers" had a song a few years ago called "Lonely and being alone" explaining the difference between the two and one lyric says "lonely is only a bad place to be if you can't stand your own company". Sums it up well.

One can get lonely at times with your partner sitting 6’ from you too… it’s a human thing ❤

I'm similar. Used to believe I could only be happy with a particular woman. I was given a different gift. Freedom. Spent 4.5 mths alone this winter in the sun. Peaceful and easy. Kept in touch with a few pals online. Next year I plan for 6 months, with new adventures. Very blessed. Missed out on most of the usual gifts of life that most people want, but have been given different ones. A free man. That's why I like your channel.
