I've been riding 13000km on T1550 + Lún HYPER 23 SE D45 wheels, Shimano Ultegra Di2 group set. No problems so far, awesome bike, very satisfied. Build the bike by myself, the internal routing of brake hoses through the frame and handlebar took some time.

I know you talk about lack of local support. I think that is the way the world is going, everyone is going direct to consumer (like canyon and trek) and it will be LBS for service only.
@andarenbici
@andarenbici Ай бұрын
Honest question. I have a problem with a niche part on a Winspace v a Trek/Giant. Do you think the support would be the same even if you purchased consumer direct from Trek/Giant? There is a product liability issue. Who would you be more likely to recover against? Take away the quality of the bikes. Let's assume they are both equal, could purchasing a product directly from China not pose unexpected issues for consumers, especially with more expensive items (2K frame)? I am sure it would go the other way as well for a Chinese person buying a BB from a dubious British 5yo, so that is nothing against companies in China, or the Chinese manufacturers. These issues are also a possible disadvantage of custom frame builders, but those are much more personal and trust based relationships.

Winspace, Seka and (to a lesser degree) Tavelo are getting a little ahead of themselves with their current pricing. Canyon will sell you a bike for about the same price as one of these builds and LBS bikes with similar builds can be similarly priced when on sale (which is becoming frequently possible again). I think these newer Chinese bikes are pretty good, but I'm not sure they're compelling versus something like a TCR. Chinese wheels are still a very good bargain with excellent performance, but I;m not sure about the frames yet. If Winspace sold this at $1,200 I'd have a very different opinion.

Hi, I have a SLC2.0 a T1500 and T1550 and a Agile. I discovered Winspace because they make "modern" rimbrake frames. The Agile is the only Discbrake of the 4. It is the only with T47 BB all the other have BB86 BB. I had no problems with the BB86 Bottom Brackets at all. I am using Wheels Mfg thread together BB. The frames don´t creak. If something does it is just a good reminder that "someone" needs a little bit of servicing/greasing. I also use the LUN Wheels on all bikes, nothing to say about those either. They just boringly stay straight and true. I am in Austria/Tyrol and the rimbrake Wheels do not wear and DO stop me when I want. Tubeless configuration just works on all wheelsets too. The one piece stem and steerer I also use on all bikes is nothing much to report about, again just does it´s job. If there is anything to report it is the Agile. The T47 does sometime say "hello". What is a bit of a nuisance on that bike, is the front disc rubbing when out of the saddle. But everybody tells me thats "normal" on discbrake bikes....... why isn´t that ever talked about more? Easy and simple to get to Austria. The prices on their website are already including taxes and fees. So there is no surprise on the doorstep when delivered. Usually it takes about 3-4weeks to ship. Overall: Bikes are all on Shimano DA 9200 12 Speed. Nothing much to report there either. Rock solid bikes that weigh competitly dont creak, ride excelently and are "cheap" (about €6-8000). I always weigh with Assioma Pedals and the tools I take with me, also including the Garmin Edge, so about 7kg for the SLC, about 7,5kg for the T1550 and 7,8kg for the Agile....... so take off 100g for the Garmin, 250g for the Assiomas and about 280g for the Toolkit/Pump/Tubes... Who wants can check the km I am doing on the Winspaces on Strava: www.strava.com/athletes/42240267 not a lot on each, but I am a 52 year old 81kg "good weather rider" that can hardly produce more than 300W over a longer period, when sprinting 1200W are the end of the story..... Finally: I show interest in the bikes and everything related to that. So I go and get what suits me 100% no compromises. I can get all I want online and do so, also completly build my bike myself. I am sick of these arrogant, snooty bike shops where you can buy their products only. I am not interested in their "service" and them trying to pull as much money from me as possible. On top they pissed me off in 2020 during corona when they were making their "big business" and left the whole show ruined to a certain degree. I needed a spare part and went to a local shop but they showed no interest in helping. (premature end of rant)

Hasn’t anyone else seen the deals out there on mainstream brands? I can buy a Specialized SL7 sport for under the equivalent of $2,400 full build with 105 12 speed here in Korea. Nothing against Winspace but why would I buy a frame for $1800 + shipping + import charges when I can get an SL7 ready to ride for a similar price with support just a 5 minute ride away? They’re not really reading the state that the cycling industry is in at the moment. These direct Chinese companies are charging too much at the wrong time and their bikes are worthless a few years down the line when you maybe want to sell.

Have an slc 2.0 for about 8 months with 1700kms now. Very satisfied with the frame. Good quality carbon. I have had to retighten the front mech. Although it is the first time I've ever built a bike and fully expect to make newbie errors. Not a single creak out of the bb86 bottom bracket but would imagine it might be a little problematic for sram users. I also found it quite problematic with 50/34 chainring with chain drops. I've upgraded to 53/39 given my local rides are relatively flat and no issues since. It rides beautifully. Also don't think people would have issues with 52/36. If people run a 50/34 I think they would Benefit from a chain guard thing that sticks to the frame.

I've ridden and raced the Winspace SLC 2.0 and have nothing but great things to say about it. Light, fast, stiff, aero enough for the type of rider I am. It just feels good to ride, and I would hold it up as just as good as far more expensive bikes than it. I'll be keeping my eyes on the SLC 3.0 when I'm due for a new frame. I also am a fan of the TCR though (it was my first road bike, and I still love that old reliable weapon. My TCR still sees regular use as well).

I think the lack of dealer support is huge for average cyclists. I would like to see a video comparing dealing with a Winspace problem and a Giant problem, and how Winspace support compares to Canyon. These direct to consumer brands free ride on the brand supported shops. Also, there is probably going to be an issue with product liability if there ever were to be a serious safety issue. Not against these brands, but there is no free lunch. Maybe the legacy brands will work harder on pricing for the everyman.

Yeah, I too find it slightly annoying when they tell you the weight of the bike excluding pedals but all you got to do is add 260 grams, the weight of a set of 105 pedals, to the figure they give you and you've got a pretty good idea of the all-up weight. Cable routing is not impossible to do at home, I know because I've done it. A cable routing kit helps. Granted routing mechanical brake and gear cables is harder than routing hydraulic hoses and di2 wires.

If Giant would up their game and make a TCR to match the quality of Winspace then maybe I would consider a TCR. Winspace wins in both quality and price. BTW, please update this video with your actual findings of the front derailleur issue. I can’t imagine sending back a frame for a little loctite… if that’s the case.

The only reason a Giant TCR frame set is £2k is to make the complete builds look better value and give it some kudos.

It's easy to produce and sell something cheaply when you didn't come up with the initial idea, when you didn't invest any money in development and testing and just copied and stole the design of the final product.

I appreciate the thought behind your comment and while I want to agree, you simply can't avoid it. Like the other guy mentioned, many of the other big brands are assembled in China and Taiwan also. Do you own a smartphone? Probably manufactured and assembled in China. Apple has literally admitted to using Chinese child labor in China. The majority of big brands in America unfortunately use China. It's the American way.

@@chrysopylaedesign A gram is a unit of weight. Weight is a force acting on an object due to gravity. A force acts as an influence on an object, changing its velocity. Velocity is the direction and speed of an object. Gravity is the subject of many theories, none of which have yet produced consensus among the physicists.
