A history documentary I saw many years ago suggested that the Dutch, in the 17th Century, were the first to largely abandon religiosity and concentrate more on scientific discovery for progress in their society. This allowed them to develop their maritime empire, the finest ships, the science of navigation, the understanding of foreign cultures, medicines etc. But is wasn't long before the British copied the Dutch and this led to the growth of their empire and even greater success - and also the spawning of the Industrial Revolution in England. As a consequence of rational thinking, Britain attained the greatest advances in Biology, medicine, geology, evolution, engineering, and agriculture. Other cultures maintained their religions and non-scientific mind sets and as a consequence fell into decline. Muslims, for example, believed that their destinies were pre-arranged by God and so there was no incentive to improve their lot.

Great conversation. Very blessed by 'the briefing' and 'thinking in public.' I think we can learn a lot from data drawn from surveys etc. However, qualitative theological research methods are needed to answer questions of faith that get beyond externals. Keep up the great work Dr. Mohler. Blessings in Christ 🙏

I heard that Protestants in the Catholic part of Ireland have a very strong faith; and that Catholics in the Protestant part of Ireland also have strong faith. Not sure if that has anything to do with this discussion, but it might.

I like listening to Mohler for several reasons one of which it gives good insight to the problem within the church. This interview is a good example in that he is representative of the problem but the question is...how do we interact with people like him (Dr. Mohler) and their blindness? In other words ..he seems blind to the problem that he IS the problem he's trying to find an answer to (he, for example, tangentially brings up "The Lord's Day" issue...yet I am sure he will say the 4th Commandment has been nullified...the schizophrenia of the church on display):

I'm at peace. Now I'm losing the peace by writing this sentence. There might be more to it than just that, or something totally different than that to it, but I'll leave it at that for now. Not that we don't need both, but when I hear end of the world preaching (probably hearing it in my mind more than from others), I get a different feeling than when just a short time ago, even earlier today if I'm remembering correctly, I heard in the catholic litany, them, I believe quoting the bible, say the bible phrase (I'm pretty sure it's in the bible): "World without end." I don't blame the preacher for preaching about the end of the world, at least I hope not to. I read the bible and saw for myself both the end of the world idea, and world without end phrase. It was my own mind that was attracted to, and that attached to, what some might say is the darker one, the world ending one, if this is what has actually happened. I seem to notice one more than the other when they are said.

I also doubt that Prof Zuckerman has yet to take into account the revolution that has taken place in the Philosophy or Religion over the last 40+ years. Ideas do take time to filter down into a culture, even a highly technologized one. If intellectual Christianity were to evaporate completely, then perhaps you would have a more serious case for secularization being inevitable. But that secularization is happening right now, is I think undeniable. Biblically speaking, we should also probably expect something like secularism to occur.

Ode to Billie Joe Song by Bobbie Gentry It was the third of June, another sleepy, dusty Delta day I was out choppin' cotton, and my brother was balin' hay And at dinner time we stopped and walked back to the house to eat And mama hollered out the back door, y'all, remember to wipe your feet And then she said, I got some news this mornin' from Choctaw Ridge Today, Billy Joe MacAllister jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge And papa said to mama, as he passed around the blackeyed peas Well, Billy Joe never had a lick of sense; pass the biscuits, please There's five more acres in the lower forty I've got to plow And mama said it was shame about Billy Joe, anyhow Seems like nothin' ever comes to no good up on Choctaw Ridge And now Billy Joe MacAllister's jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge And brother said he recollected when he, and Tom, and Billie Joe Put a frog down my back at the Carroll County picture show And wasn't I talkin' to him after church last Sunday night? I'll have another piece-a apple pie; you know, it don't seem right I saw him at the sawmill yesterday on Choctaw Ridge And now ya tell me Billie Joe's jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge And mama said to me, child, what's happened to your appetite? I've been cookin' all morning, and you haven't touched a single bite That nice young preacher, Brother Taylor, dropped by today Said he'd be pleased to have dinner on Sunday, oh, by the way He said he saw a girl that looked a lot like you up on Choctaw Ridge And she and Billy Joe was throwing somethin' off the Tallahatchie Bridge A year has come and gone since we heard the news 'bout Billy Joe And brother married Becky Thompson; they bought a store in Tupelo There was a virus going 'round; papa caught it, and he died last spring And now mama doesn't seem to want to do much of anything And me, I spend a lot of time pickin' flowers up on Choctaw Ridge And drop them into the muddy water off the Tallahatchie Bridge kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZ6pqamGbs5lfM0si=nEDE0K_2LkcTj5H0

If you do the work of thinking all the time you'll be working all the time. If you do the work all the time of stopping the thoughts from coming you'll be working all the time. Is the thought already in me and I make it come to the surface. Is it at the top and falls down? If I chase it, it runs away. Are feelings put into thoughts, words? If I run from the thought does it chase me down? Is the thought in pieces and I construct it into one whole phrase? Am I sending the thought to me?

He says I'm on a ball of dust that's floating over never ending darkness. Did it take a billion, million, or thousand years for your entire human body to form in your mother's womb. If the ball if dust is floating over never ending darkness in every direction there would be no bottom to go down to or top to go up to and thus no down and up. Was there space and time and material, and then the big bang, the explosion of the material, happened in space and time, and thus didn't make the space and time and material, or did the big bang happen in eternity, and out of eternity it made the space and time and material come into space and time and material, or is space eternity, or is a beginning of space, and not the actual space, eternity?

They say they're going to expand consciousness. They say that all consciousnesses will be one, and that that will break the separateness between us. But I say if all are one, then it will be only your consciousness here. So you will be all alone with no other consciousness here to enjoy, no variety, nothing different than you to have a change for once and take a break from seeing just the same stuff again and again, but you just being stuck on the same thing over and over again. And thus you'll be all alone as though you were separate.

Lucifer gave you knowledge. Before that you were free of knowledge. He put limits on you, for if you do not transcend knowledge, you are limited to it. If you have no limits, you have no border to you, If you have no borders you have nothing to put the knowledge in. You can't have it in yourself, because you would have no self. If a cup has no surface to touch then there is no cup. Knowledge is gold. You would need the universe, for the gold to be in, for there to be gold in. If you have no safe, you can't have gold in a safe. A safe has edges, limits. Knowledge has no limits. Are you limited to knowledge, or can you break out of and escape knowledge? A letter has an outline, a limit. It is knowledge. So if you have a word in you you have limits in you. A word has no limit. So it can't be contained in you. Things with edges, which a letter, but not a word, has, only can be placed in you, A word has no limit. So it cannot be present in you. And it is knowledge. So you can't have knowledge in you. The letter in a word has sides, the word does not. The letter 'I' is a word. Lucifer gave you knowledge, the limited, for knowledge that has no limits, how can it be had, since once you get some of it there will keep being more of it to get. So lucifer giving you knowledge is him giving you more work to do, with no end to it so you can get back to playing and not caring or taking things serious like they're a job. Life is constantly in the middle of a change. So it never completes the change. Thus is never changes into something else. Life is constantly changing. It never gets put on pause. Therefore being in a state of change, it never makes it through the change stage, and hence never reaches it's destiny and changes finally, after all that changing, into something else. If the market is dictated by the people, then to be on top of the market, and know what's coming next, you wouldn't watch the market and read the papers, you would watch the people and read them. They rush ahead to see what happened, not slow down to see what will happen. They look at the papers and market to see what already happened, they don't look at themselves to see what will happen. The papers and market show you the change after it has already occurred, but the people are what's occurring. There's many deadly germs out there, and all humans spread them all the time. You had the flu. Should everyone on earth with a tiny spreadable thing coming out of them be locked down? Should only the people with a germ that it is prophesied will kill all people be locked down, and the people with a germ that kills half the population, or just you, not be locked down?

If there's no free will, then no one is free to create it, and it's not a creation. If there's no pre-destination, the pre-destination isn't pre-destined, and it has a choice. If free will is not pre-destination, then it is a choice, and if pre-destination is a choice, not pre-destined, it is a choice, free will. If free will is choice, not pre-destination, and it exists, and pre-destination is a choice, not pre-destined, then pre-destination is a choice, free will.

Talking tough, hanging on the corner, being a street king is sound behavior, not for teenager's, not ruining the minds. It's what you want your home to have in it. It's serious life, not a show and madness that will steal peace from your home and mind if allowed in through the screens a whole it. You want peace in your home. Bringing the street corner into it through a screen is bringing light into it, not a dark crazy life that all sane people flee from into the mountains to be with the mountain people cutting their wood and going to church and separating the business world from their lives at home and in their community when they leave work. The job isn't their family and girls night out. It's not hustle twenty four hours a day for them and always on their gangster and player pimp strut and stroll.

If I was trapped on an island, in conditions like back at the beginning of culture, and had to rebuild the culture from the base up, and I could only have one book, it'd probably be piepers leisure the basis of culture, or if it's the bible, I would carve in a coconut tree: Leisure Verses, in hopes that seeing that will help me recall to notice and not just leisurely pass over the scriptures like: If you can't do this one simple thing, why worry about all the rest.

I'd have a lot of time on my hands. So I'd probably carve a bible verse on each tree on the island in case the book got wet. In the story there can be one last tree on a high rock that the guy can't get to. He finally makes it, carves something in the tree that the audience can't see, and then you see him take a little slip, but just a shot of a little bit of rocks shifting and slipping out from under his one foot, just enough for you to think that there's a chance he might have lived and not fully have slipped and fell from the cliff, as the movie ends there on that still frame shot of his foot and goes black.

The modern day cops and military and hospitals got tons of records of them dealing with what they thought was weird unworldly phenomena, just like all the ancients, those billions of witnesses. The world is a weird place that jesus could come to. It's not like a flat line, stable, plain, dead, but is wild, unscientific. The poor's life is science and words, the riches' lives are miraculous and numbers. The poor's life is numbers, the rich's lives are miracles. The poor's lives are science, the rich's life is a dream. Nature isn't a dream, dreams are miracles. Nature is a dream, but god is a miracle, not man made. Or can man perform miracles, and a dream made miracles, and god is no dream but a miracle and nature maker, one outside of nature, the dream, time, and is eternal, and the caused causes things? If natural things cause natural things, and caused god, then god is natural. And if the caused things, the natural things, cause natural things that cause natural things, and god is natural, a caused thing, then he causes natural things.

You're in non-existence if non-existence does not exist. How can there be up without down, existence without non-existence? If only existence existed, there would be no outside of existence to see existence from, and existence would be as one who does not exist, as that which cannot be seen. Inside the mind is not outside the mind, in nature, so it can't be created by nature and part of the natural process of looping leaving and returning seasons. Existence is outside the mind. And non-existence exists. So you are in non-existence, or I am non-existence standing next to you. Inside the mind is not existence, so it does not exist, and therefore there is no inside the mind, and thus non-existence can't be inside the mind.

Interesting conversation. I am going to go out on a limb, however, and say the secularization thesis is false; and for two reasons: 1) Islam and 2) Paganism. I think the future, belongs to Islam just in virtue of sheer population growth statistics, i.e., birth rates, and that secularists who remain in the land, will devolve (as we are already seeing) into some kind of neopaganism, be it earth worship or animism of some kind. But what will not remain will be the atheistic materialists. These strong atheists will die out fairly quickly, mainly because they aren't having children.

The catholics dispute one another but stay under the same coach. Others dispute each other and split from the coach into smaller, and therefore less powerful teams. One guy building a skyscraper and city by himself won't complete the task. If he is just laying the foundation, and another installing the walls, and a third the roof, you'll get a city. You should cut off half the nation who doesn't vote like you, or tie their hands, so only your foundation gets done. You should do things in public that make them leave your team and let you build the skyscraper yourself, such as have pleasurable mid-day unifying and melding and entering one another parties on subways and scream in their faces that they're the "r" word. You team should be filled with those who seek pleasure and not building.

Chesterton gave me a new belief, or a new way of looking at a subject, topic, thing, or things just pretty much relatively, compared to what I know not, recently. I figure that is why the other day I told my friend a thing or two, but talking about the matter with my old way of viewing things of that matter. It took me one or two days to realize that I didn't view things, at least things like that, or maybe even just particularly that thing, like that anymore, and that I was saying something to him that I didn't believe any longer without even seeing or noticing that I was doing that at the time. Simply put, I have a new way of looking at something but I spoke as if I don't believe that, and hadn't become aware that I did that till days later. More simply: I said to my friend the other day what I do not believe any more, and didn't hear myself till sometime after. I hope that clears it up. I might have thought it before I read chesterton. But him saying it could have strengthened it in me.

A God that lacks suffering, lacks something, and is not all-powerful, for when you lack something, you are deficient, you have a defect, you are imperfect, limited, not all, thus, not all-powerful.

Suffering is powerful. So it is a part of all that's powerful. It's in that category, the powerful bracket and branch. Plus god is all-powerful. Also it is a power. So it is a part of power. And god has all power. He is the power, the suffering.

Faith means nothing. So it's meaning. But it's doesn't mean anything. So it's not meaning.

The logical can be understood. The foolish cannot. Are woman not understood? Women are too deep for them to understand themselves. They're that nonsensical god that's beyond understanding. Being quiet is a higher level than talking. So me telling women to be silent in church is me helping them up to a higher scale than I, the talker, am on.

People want to stay in their comfort zone, in their head, like when they're asleep with their eyes closed and in the dark and unaware and ignorant and comfortable, and not come out of their head.

It's actually more comfortable when you're outside your mind, but there's no thought there, no plan's of yours (because those things are in your mind), so you retreat back inside out of fear of not getting anything done since you're not focused on your plan then when you're not in your head.

You shouldn't rage like me. It'll get your body shaky and shivering and sick. In your mind controlling you your body, or in your body controlling you the mind, or you being out of control, or control being out of you your mind, or being controlling you the observer of you the body and you the mind, or hi ho hi ho it's onto rest go I?

The past is the bad, death. You are modern, rising from death, the past. The progressive is rising from the dead, from the bad, the past. Arise from the past, from the rest, to life, to the great job to be done. The past was foolish, play. Advance and evolve into the serious, the concerned, into the constant laborer. Progress isn't staying still, resting, or a game, play, it's doing work, so its the liberation from the plantation and being a free man, not slavery, working on work. The primitives weren't building, they were asleep on the job. They didn't have the key and secret in the know answer, the labor, building back better. Labor is futuristic, freedom, not sleep, slavery. Biden is smart. He's building back, making american great again. Trump is a fool, he wants to make america an ancient tribalism, not a builder of what it is we saw in the past that greatness is. Build the slave system from the past back, but even better, so that it has barbwire and cameras around the plantation and not just an old creaky wooden fence. If the past america wasn't great, why would you want to build it back, and even better, so it's what's was, the slavery with run away slaves, but even better, more powerful, a slavery no one can escape from?

Lock yourself down in solitary confinement like you're under a prison punishment, to help yourself. Getting out and socializing isn't what helps. That's good advice, not lunacy and the cunning one fooling you. Lock yourself down in solitary confinement like you're under a prison punishment, until you get yourself together. It's not getting out and socializing that will get you together. That's smart advice, not insanity from satan. Socializing just to socialize isn't what helps. Socializing to work is the key. That's not the devil telling you that working like a slave is freedom, that's your rational reasoning telling you that. Having to accomplish goals isn't what's wearing on you. Being free of having to chase a goal is slavery, not freedom. Being concerned and having to struggle, not laughing and forever resting, is the blessing god wants to give you. Lucifer is trying to trick you into the curse of laughing and forever resting. God worked on and created the universe and then rested. The rest wasn't to give him back energy so he could get back to work. Work wasn't his goal, it was his means to an end, rest being the end, the goal, the plan. If rest is to recuperate so you can get back to work, in other words, to be refueled like a non-human controlled robot to get back to work, then the work is the end goal, and there is no rest or play after it, and it's work forever and ever once you get to that end, because there is no goal after that.

Bury me softly in this womb I give this part of me for you Sand rains down and here I sit Holding rare flowers in a tomb, in bloom Down in a hole and I don't know if I can be saved See my heart, I decorate it like a grave Oh, you don't understand who they thought I was supposed to be Look at me now, a man who won't let himself be Down in a hole, feelin' so small Down in a hole, losin' my soul I'd like to fly But my wings have been so denied Down in a hole, and they've put all the stones in their place I've eaten the sun, so my tongue has been burned of the taste I have been guilty of kicking myself in the teeth I will speak no more of my feelings beneath Down in a hole, feelin' so small Down in a hole, losin' my soul I'd like to fly But my wings have been so denied Bury me softly in this womb (oh, I wanna be inside of you) I give this part of me for you (oh, I wanna be inside of you) Sand rains down and here I sit (oh, I wanna be inside of you) Holding rare flowers in a tomb, in bloom (oh, I wanna be inside) Down in a hole, feelin' so small Down in a hole, losin' my soul Down in a hole, feelin' so small Down in a hole, out of control I'd like to fly But my wings have been so denied kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIiuYZ6nn7WGjKssi=6f_YDifmQXbQBYPm

You're wise. So you know christ. I'm just a big overgrown dumb baby. So I don't know him. I just have the faith of a child, in him. He conceals it from the wise and reveals it to babes.

Newborns are too stunned and grouchy to play. They got to grow up to play and become more mature to mess around. The sick and sad don't play. He says nerf gun fights are for kids so he won't take part in them. But he runs around doing drugs and chasing tail. Teenage kids run around looking for sex and dope. And he says he feels bad for not being more interested in the kid games his teeny tiny son plays. He's trying to figure out how to be more involved in his child's life. Kids want to fit in, play a part, have a task, a job. The elderly don't give a rat's ass, like they're too busy playing and vacationing to care. Running around doing drugs and chasing tail is fun, play, for adults, not kids. Kids do work at school all day. Work is kiddish. Chasing sex and drugs is playful, for adults, not a job. Until it turns into one.

The secular world is preachy. It's always ranting that you have to do more than just believe in christ, that you have to be good like them, in their old jolly unrushed way. The modern people are pushy and intrusive. They're always babbling their belief at you that you have to do some kind of work, that christ hasn't done it for you.

Don't live in a fantasy world. Grow up. You're not in a world with crime, conspiring, going on in it. Get into real life, the tv.
