I will say this...the motu m series or scarlet or clarett 2i2 are great for mobile recording or beat making on a laptop. You don't need top of the line equipment to produce pro sounding music. So I believe these interfaces are still valuable to mobile setups.

Audio interfaces often use the same converter chips (A/D, D/A). If you hear a difference on the same sampling rate, then it's probably just the mixer part. I'm using a cheap Behringer. It has balanced audio connection, which is important for good sound.

Back in the days we used actual "sound cards" which had on board memory. These fake external sound interfaces are all a joke.. if it doesn't have its own processing and memory then you just wasted your money.😂

I have the 18i20 which has multiple inputs and outputs. It also has ADAT. I use my 4i4 for playing live. My two keyboards have interfaces built in.

Not sure where the hate on Focusrite interfaces is coming. Since gen 2 and gen 3 they sound significantly better than many other audio interfaces, mixers on the same price range and higher... quality preamps, good built quality and small size... cant go wrong with them.

thats why I did research n found a deal for a $79 interface, to hold me over till i can spend more on one of these newer "All In ONE" pieces of hardware i.e: Rodecaster PRo Duo etc.etc.etc. i mean my $79 interface lets me Re-Amp my guitar and allows 4 inputs so for the money it was worth it until that al in one verison comes out from whoever makes the exact type im wanting, it cant be that far away the way they pumpin out music equipment right now....

I use a Steinberg interface on my home DJ setup because it saves space. I have the first Rodecaster, but I feel like it is more for podcasting with only 1/4 inch outputs. For a compact mixer, I like the PreSonus StudioLive AR8c. USB-c interface, XLR master output, and capable of recording to an SD card.

I still use my BEHRINGER UMC 202 HD Mr. Elbow. I’m simply a one person crew! My UMC connects to my laptop and I flip on my Studio One 6 and bamb!… I’m good to go. I agree however that if the studio is a busy studio friends/family chillen all the time - then having the L12 mixer is perfect especially if your a group or band. Good conversation Mr. Elbow thanks for all your great knowledge my brother!!.

I still have the Avid Mbox 3 Mini, m-audio axiom 25 key midi controller, CME Xkey WIDI Bud, iLok, because we don’t need the dongle anymore, Yamaha Wireless MD-BT01 5-PIN DIN MIDI Adapter& wires. I will be selling them all. I’m also selling my Microsoft Surface Pro 6. I’ve ordered the Apple iPad Mini 6 and will be getting it on Monday. I literally hate having so many things. iPad Mini 6, Audio Technica ath-m50x bluetooth, Bluetooth mouse & Bluetooth keyboard is all that I need. My production software is good enough. I am what is considered “A Minimalist”. I love playing on MIDI Keyboard Pianos, but the software nowadays, can do what I do. Less gear, less space taken up. This is me. There are people out there with loads of gear. I’ve seen people with a lot of gear and showed them respect. “The world would be extremely boring, if everyone what exactly the same”.

I sometimes mix and master only with the intern interface from my macbook air m1.. And…, it works very well.. Also for creating content. I think it’s good enough for most things today.. 😅 Also only using the zoom h1 intern interface is perfect for most things..

I'm torn between the tascam and the Yamaha mixer in my first studio I had the tascam dp32 running everything thru it no computer and we mixed and mastered on the tascam with a behringer b1 mic and some behringer truth speakers... pretty good sound I'm debating on going back to the truth monitors or trying out the kali 3 way monitor....I hear certain creators talking about behringer like they're not for the culture and just copy and steal designs of equipment/gear that were good by other companies and sell em' for cheap i guess that's why they get a bad rap!!?

check the sound quality test uad /clarett/presonus/avid/mbox and Motu are almost indistinguishable from each other

Peace!!! As you know bro I have looking to step my Auto interface up. I do beleive the smaller cheaper ones still have a place. To me the Scarlett do not sound that bad. However I do agree my m box I have on my laptop sounds a tad bit better. Still Ithink they do have a place for tgose who are staring out. My thing has always been if I can make it sound good on crapy stuff then I am ready to up grade :)

buy a quantum 2 then run 3 uad dsp octo thunderbolts off of it leave the other three thunderbolt peripherals for two more quantums. use a fairly new computer or at 2017 mac MacBook pro and you will not hiccup with high track counts or get a Presonus 16r and learn to use only the daws plugins and effects first. become a power user there then worry about other software. 48k i s dvd quality you won't miss anything sound wise

UAD is actually a consumer card: it only has 20 db headroom. Same for Apogee and lynx which you see in most operating studios today. I found out when Disney required a 26 db signal chain....

wheres the difference know it all? the difference is your monitors your room and your crossover points on your respective monitors. oh and the wax in your ears lol seriously treat the room and run pink and white noise then rock out with a used presonus quantum2 quantum 2626, 16r or the baby quantum which is perfect for most small producers. Do not rock with a podcaster your tracks will laugh at you
