I agree 100 % on what was said in this video about Mercedes Mone. She has a huge ego and her as a wrestler and person are one and the same. Triple H said this about the women in the wrestling business that they tend to have a much bigger ego then the male wrestler's. Sable, Sunny and Chyna to name a few. As a HUGE Sasha/Mercedes fan for 9 years now, her work in AEW has been unsavory & lackluster from the promos, stories, matches & even simple things as visage such as gear, etc. I think if she had chosen to re-sign with WWE under the HHH regime or continue her work in Japan from last year, which was critically acclaimed by many. She’s coasted or even worse regressed as a performer. She just doesn’t have the same drive or passion I feel & it’s reflecting in her AEW work. WWE hid her weaknesses very well but AEW like with many people on their roster, they expose their weaknesses & continue to do so. Mercedes is just another victim of a uber popular WWE star moving to AEW & feeling like a complete afterthought. At least her contract in AEW goes til 2026 & I’m hopeful she can set the aside her pride in how much she’s getting payed & chooses to salvage the legacy she made for herself by going back to WWE. M

Another thing to add, she’s always been confident in her abilities if you’ve watched her interviews going back to 2015/2016 & rightfully so. Sometimes she can come across as hubris & way in over her head. Atleast she backed it up in WWE & even in her short Japan run. However, her recent work is abysmal & the same attitude she has as an individual is rubbing people the wrong way now because she’s not backing it up. Actions speak louder than words.

Wwe has some monsters in nxt and some women on the main roster who I think are going to be major players by 2026 if she were to go back. Lash legend, Jaida Parker, Tiffany Stratton, Lola Vice, Giulia, Zaria, Stephanie Vaquer. And they may still have Rhea, Jade, Bianca and Liv. Maybe she’d be better off in aew where she’d definitely make more money. Plus, there’s no way in hell wwe is giving her creative control like Aew did.

I’m a huge Mercedes fan and I’m so disappointed in the way she’s been booked. I like her carrying on the whole Boss gimmick by just renaming it, but I feel like she needs a twist to it. She needs to evolve in dramatic ways akin to Becky Lynch. Something I think of a lot for a good evolution story is: She needs to lose her titles one by one, start to question her pedigree, have story where she’s going on a spending binge and dodging her scheduled appearances, we find out she’s kayfabe going broke, her mind starts to warp and her ego begins cracking. We then get a promo (a callback to the birth of The Boss, where Summer Rae questioned her place in NXT) of her sitting at a mirror all alone, staring at herself and talking to herself in a whispered craze. She applies her old red lipstick, accidentally misses her lip line, become hysterical and screams. She gets up to take her stiletto off and throws it into the mirror, shattering it. She looks at the broken vanity, the top desk and floor all covered in shards, and slowly backs away with a demented grin, holding the sides of her face in shock. That would be great set up for a twisted delusional Success Guru story for Mercedes. It would be such a fun and campy way to get her over again. I don’t think she realizes that she’s reached a plateau creatively and that it’s hurting her brand. I wouldn’t even mind her doing the same stuff as she has been for the past 10 years, but she’s been heavily diluted since joining AEW. They are killing the whole CEO/Boss thing the way they’re booking her currently.

First of all if you listen to the video and the discussion only one of the people have the opinion that she has no qualities as a talent or a draw, an opinion they are entitled to on a subjective subject. The other individual feels she is talented but her real life attitude which in a world where social media is so influential does have an impact her actions such as her attitude towards fans alongside interviews she has done AS MERCEDES VARNADO appear arrogant and this has damaged her career. The titles she has currently are ARGUABLY for some secondary titles and for the money she is on and the influence she has had she has not had the desired impact many would expect... This is a member of the four horsewomen that you would expect to be a needle mover, so far for many that has not been the case and they entitled to their opinion... As much as you are. That is the point of a discussion or debate. 👍

She certainly had very toxic behaviour backstage if the reports are true and as you say it would seem she was the ringleader in causing trouble. I seem to remember that Bayley and Mercedes did a sit down protest about having to switch the tag titles with the Iconics at a wrestlemania? While Bayley and of course Naomi cannot be overlooked for the part they played it does seem imo out of character for those two to act in such a childish way. Her real life (not on screen) behaviour with fans is out of order... I remember hearing from ECW's Francine on a podcast that she had told a young child to get away from her!? And Alexa Bliss had to console the kid after seeing it. That's just pathetic.
