Not sure what memory has to do with when you're hungry or sick or when you get hit by a car and all your bones are broken. He's talking about abstractions. Much like French postmodernists. Even though I dont agree on some of his theories like this one, overall I like him. Not sure if its a good thing but at 49 im thoroughly disilusioned about the world and im no longer certain if its a place i want to dwell in.

I listened to many non dual and spiritual youtube videos for years, simply searching for someone who was having an experience similar to my experience. Non duality was the closest I found but it was not at all the same. I made a video to share my experience of no self. And when I say no self I mean I see no individuals anywhere I look. J Mac No Self is not an experience. In reality, as a fact, there is no self/person present. The person is a assumption. We see other persons, because there is a believe,that what I am is a person. I am not sure what you are experiencing, but it's not No Self.

If everything belongs to everyone else and he had no issues with thieves stealing then why didnt he let homeless people sleep in his house and let the hungry eat his food? So basically he may not be wrong in his assesments but most of his bratty and abrassive attitude comes from the fact that he does not depend.on anyone as he was indipendently wealthy and could troll anyone or everything without suffering any consequences. He said it himself that he was setup with a trust fund. Not to discredit him completely, he does have a kind of practical down to earth perhaps even a bit of a zen attitude towards life but he lacks empathy as a result of being born into wealth. The calamity he talks about is perhaps a contrived event that never really took place. Much like Sadhguru, UG too more than likely invented an event of enlightment because if some kind of process of awakening didnt take place, people would not take him seriously. However, Sadhguru is more transparent as a liar and a fraud. In the folklore of enlightment or awakening, traditionally, there is a moment when it happens suddenly. The story of his "calamity" or enlightment and how he describes these energy movements in his body, all of that comes off a bit phony. Also what comes off a bit phony is his insistance on being in this "natural state" that is somehow unique to him. The conclusion is to paraphrase a Zen article that stated that there are no teachers of Zen, but that there is Zen. Meaning people are just people, flawed in many ways without exception but one must not throw the baby out with the bath water. If you get something valuable from UG. Great! Move on! Run with it! When you get the message, hang up the phone! Any further investigation into his charachter and lingering and mulling over UG whether he was right or wrong or he was like this or that can and will take you further down the road of disappointment and you'll miss the point.

Great comment. I've had some of hear thoughts myself. UG himself helped me expose UG. I still see a relatively honest man compared to most of there. He even rejected the calamity in later years stating that he wished he'd never mentioned it. That nothing happened.

I wonder what he means when he says he doesn't think he's ever learned anything from spiritual or secular teachers if he claims that everything we know is given to us by our culture. He clearly speaks out of the knowledge given to him by his spiritual and secular teachers. His contribution to me seems to be his rejection of all metaphysical and ontological truth claims as well as his radical rejection of the individual.

Could one just for God sake tell me this very basic question? Why the hell are we being throated down with Gandhi or Nehru through books and media in India without ever a single mention of Jiddu and UG Krishnamurthi? We are being kept in the dark on purpose.
