Mark, this is an excellent program on a very important topic. Anyone who knows the Philippines understands the service nature of the people makes this kind of offering possible here.

There's an 81 yr old American in La Union who has live-in help so it need not be a partner. At 50 it's not something I need as I'm a younger expat but having someone that you can depend on is important here. There are churches where you can find supportive people - ask the priest or minister. You can find people to wash your clothes, cook for you, even do shopping.

This is an important topic that needs more analysis. I will be in that situation one day and need an implementation plan for setting up a support system. It would be great if you could unpack this topic in future podcasts. We could set up a sick benevolent society that caters to elder orphans in some official capacity. Many ideas are floating through my mind now.

Everyone should look into the carnivore menu for your best health and to save money. Stop eating junk food and plants to get healthy. Cancer feeds on sugar and carbohydrates so Stop it. Watch doctor Shawn Baker and doctor Ken Berry. I plan on moving to the Philippines and hiring help when the time comes, Thanks for the video!

Perhaps a big home like 5-10 bedrooms residence can be made a Carehome where 3 caregivers can care for 5-10 elderly who need personal assistance. The clients can be visited by medical professionals for their needs. 24 hour care is available. This type of home charges from $500 and up depending on care or assistance food laundry and housekeeping utilities and activities included. Please tell me the name of the device for translator. Thank you.

Yes, you have many 'pro' points, Mark. However there is one main 'con' that also needs to be considered. That is that the healthcare available in the Philippines is not the same as for those in a developed country! It can be said: "well who cares about health if you're in your 80s+?" Well, the quality of one's healthcare in one's 80s+ can make a huge difference to one's quality of life! I'm a 60yo single male. I'm Australian and living in Australia. At my age I can travel to the Philippines and move around. Will I have the same mobility when I'm 70? If I were able to move to the Philippines now (I'm not able to because I would have no ongoing source of income), I think I would be taking a backward step health-wise, because I rely on the world-class level of healthcare I get here in Perth. I'm sorry, I don't care what anyone says, the level of healthcare in the Philippines probably wouldn't allow me to have the same lifestyle. Do I want to take that risk? No, however I would consider moving back and forth between Australia and the Philippines, if I could afford the airfares and accommodation. I would also only consider the back and forth proposition till I'm in my mid-70s. After then, it would be Australia all the way. For those willing to risk their life and healthcare after that, in the Philippines, that's a serious risk. If something bad happens to someone health-wise, from 75+ in the Philippines, will they be able to travel by air back to their home country? Will the Philippines be able to offer them the same quality of life due to the lower healthcare quality? It's seriously questionable! What if someone gets too ill to be able to travel by air back to their home country? Will they be able to access their ongoing source of income if they get stuck in the Philippines? What if someone slowly loses their memory in the Philippines? Will their hundreds of thousands of dollars of life savings get raided because their memory depreciates too much? I'm sure such a person wouldn't last on the streets for too long in the Philippines. The eventual end would probably be pretty slow and painful, too! These are serious considerations that should not be ruled out! Looking only at the pros and not the cons also, can be a huge mistake!

Thank you so much for watching and sharing your opinion 😊 Good basic heslth care is available and excellent care is available in Manila at St Luke's But you have valid points. Everyone has their own situation. For me I can afford better care here than in America- excellent care but crazy expensive and health insurance only covers 80%
@kwilde11312 ай бұрын
In the US it is not healthcare. It is sick care. Once the system gets a hold of you, your screwed. One pill leads to another. The system exists to keep you alive long enough to take your wealth and the wealth of the taxpayers.

Hi Mark, cheers for this video as this is very much the way I'm heading in my life I've been thinking I should start to prepare for it. There is no way I'm remaining in UK and as I retire in December have decided to head over to Philippines and Thailand to have a look. I have been to both countries before as a tourist so not a total stranger. Nearer the time will email you and hopefully may get to meet you. Thanks again for all your videos.

Great topic and discussion. I'll be looking into this when I come for an extended visit. I don't need it yet (I'm 64 years old) but eventually I will and this kind of thing is very expensive in America. I'll also be looking into some assisted living places in the Philippines when I visit (I've heard of 2 or 3 places).

When an elderly man degrades and ages to the point where he has dementia or is so feeble and disabled that he cannot remember or is able to tranfer money to himself in the Philippines he would find himself in real bind in a foreign country. With no access to his money, he would not be able caretakers or anything else.
