Wonderful TED talk! What an expressive individual, taking talking with one’s hands to a whole new beautiful level. At one point, it seemed like he was dancing.

So true Domestic violence is becoming worse with increasing numbers of lost lives in my city alone but the problem is there's not enough support who want to help the places to protect having my Non-profit launched in March made me realize how sad this epidemic is being disregarded great speech thank you

Hi Lisa, thanks for your thoughts. You're in the front line and I'm a keyboard warrior!!! If there's anything I can do to support your non-profit, reach out. (Sorry I haven't checked the comments for at least a fortnight!). My dream is to make the language of psychological action common, so people can find the words to describe what's happening, and I'm talking about compassionate accuracy. Noticing feeling and not being entirely ruled by it. Being able to say it like it is. In my view, the nature of psychological action and the practical implications of being blind to them are really not understood. I've been trying to catch the attention of the ministers responsible. I've got some polite correspondence but no one with the power to drive cultural change has taken notice. I'm just not so good at PR. But, I've decided to follow the direction of Shyamala Gopalan Harris and do something about it. All the best, David 🙂

This is so true. I live in Guyana ( South America), a third world country where I feel like no one cares. I've been in this abusive relationship for almost 20 years, and I'm constrained financially, so my last resort is to get to a place where hopefully I don't get found and apply for asylum. I have 4 kids, and don't feel safe here at all. If you have any advice I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

"artificial integrity" made me wince. I thought the clickbait title belied matters of determinism & agency. "Hi I'm a theater major, and today, I'm going to talk. People make me feel sad, sometimes." O rly
@coupleader8 ай бұрын
😂. Theatre major! Sorry you feel baited. If you'd like to talk about determinism and agency, I'd love to understand your view. How can we discuss agency without recognising the mechanisms and decisions that give a person agency? How can we talk about determinism without addressing the cues for action that give someone the power to determine their future? This isn't the forum of course. I think we live in different worlds and I'd like to understand yours. In my world, I see political leaders hoodwink vast populations, and no one can describe it in a way that puts an end to the nonsense. In our country, we have a huge issue with men killing women, often ex-intimate partners. This Theatre Major wants to shake the tree. Happy to learn from you. Reach out. 🙏

But AJ was probably raised been told “be a good boy and you well get that ice cream” that would most definitely create a behavior, so when he AJ is good he expects to receive that ice cream. But that’s not life, people who are good never get what they want and in fact very horrible things happen to good people. So parents really need to think about how they raise their children and what it is you are doing to develop these young minds and behaviors. It’s absolutely ludicrous for a parent to instill behavior in a young child then try to unwind it like they had nothing to do with the behavior in the first place.

Omg, speculative talking with no real point
@coupleader8 ай бұрын
My point? Be aware. Your post could be described as the action "to belittle", or to "dismiss". It's easy to play simple dismissive psychological actions from the bunker of anonymity provided by online communications. Build the habit of being reckless with your actions, and you might damage important relationships. Is that who you want to be? Probably not. That's my point. Does this feel like a slap-down? Sorry. Not my intent. When preparing the talk, I was super aware of everything I couldn't go into in 15 minutes. It's only possible to go from speculation to decisive action with a conversation, not a talk. Happy to have one with you, if you're interested.
