I think the reason so many of us return to this show again and again is that the cast members always seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves, and (after all these years) the pleasure they take in the jokes and in each other is still contagious. I sometimes have it playing at home, like happy background music. What a legacy they left!

Where I used to work, there were only 7 of us in the department. As luck would have it, we all watched this show and we all found it to be hilarious. It got to the point where if we needed to speak to each other we would say "Mister...or Mrs ... are you free?" Yes, I'm free". It was a way to keep things light especially if it got busy. People from other departments eventually caught on and later we found out they were doing it as well. It was quite the time at work. Ah, the memories.

15:53 Mr. Humphries (John Inman) tells Captain Peacock (Frank Thornton) that he has a long lifeline. In reality, Frank Thornton did indeed live a very long life - he passed away at age 92 in 2013. Were he still alive today, by the time of this posting he would have been exactly 100 years old. Sadly, the entire main cast of AYBS have now all passed on. Only two or three of the actresses who played the nurses and secretaries to Mr. Grace and one other then-future cast member are still around.

Hit me hard when I recently found this show again and realized that everysingle cast member has now passed, except for two or three out of the almost twenty that came up as the show progressed. Thank you for the good time and the laughs. Godspeed.

I still watch this, especially when I need a good laugh. It is nice to watch something without having profanities in it. Wow, where have the years flown?

5 1 2024: I grew up watching these and wishing I could grow up to be like Mrs Slocumbe. I’m 59 and I’m a cashier at a charity based thrift store.

Mr Mash must have found all those buckets heavy enough on his arms. Then the Japanese customer tripped on the way down the stairs and got his head stuck in one of those buckets.
