Hi. I'm anorexic. I managed to build up the courage to tell my doctors and family earlier this year. I decided I need treatment, and although it's difficult, I'm proud of myself for being able to admit it out loud.

my most gracious interpretation of “water does not hydrate you” is that it’s a rather simplified version of the fact that you also need electrolytes to get the benefits of hydration. most people who aren’t particularly active or stay out of the heat will get enough electrolytes (mostly sodium and potassium) from their diet, but people who exercise, don’t eat enough, or live in hot weather benefit from extra electrolytes through stuff like sports drinks. lack of electrolytes can result in very similar symptoms to dehydration and it’s not good! I keep a packet of electrolyte drink mix on my person at all times, especially when it’s summer in the american south. this is an oversimplified and off-the-cuff explanation, i’m doing this shit from memory and for free. not liable for damages or whatever,

Electrolytes are a myth. They are a marketing thing. You don't actually need them to get benefit from hydration. In fact, salt REDUCES the benefits of water as salt just makes the cells LOOSE water. Potassium is NOT an electrolyte as electrolytes are a fancy word for slat, numbnuts. Sports drinks are also a myth. They do NOTHING to help you. On the contrary, they actually REDUCE the water in your body. Additionally, sports drinks force your body to stop producing the things it needs in order to reduce the salt in your cells. The sports drink essentially becomes your source of sodium. Thus, drinking them makes tings worse as you can't stop drinking them or you will suffer health problems. Your memory is faulty as you are remembering wrong.

That graduation one really hits. I don't know if people call it graduating when they complete any grade in school, but I remember being in 6th grade in elementary and 9th grade in junior high and we were all getting ready for our "farewell ceremonies" because all of the teachers hated when we called it our graduation ceremony. It was almost literally this person's argument. Funny thing is, both my brother and I have pictures from our preschool graduations with the caps and gowns. I even remember making my cap out of construction paper, and I still have some pictures in an album. His is much fancier, with a whole photoshoot set up and his picture even got framed. We're still asking him to order his university graduation photos so we can put them side by side.
@Wicked_Knight

Technology speaking, if you moved on to the next grade up, you graduated the previous grade. The ceremony is something nice the school does for the kids and parents as a final farewell, be it from elementary, high school, or college.

@@Wicked_Knight I disagree on the "nice thing the school does" as at least for high school, and college you have to buy the cap, gown, even the tassel yourself. Yeah, 90s and 80s kids just have this weird culture of gatekeeping, and it’s so weird. I was “built” after my PS2 Slim was, but I have three memory cards for my PS1 games, I have a copy of Cybersled with the huge ass case, I grew up watching the 80s Transformers and G.I. Joe, a good fourth of the cartoons I watched were from the 90s, I have a stack of CDs I burned myself sitting in my room and full access to my dad’s old CD collection, when I was super young my dad had a big silver CRT that sat in my parents bedroom he would watch Formula 1 on, and I would watch DVDs on a Panasonic portable DVD player (RIP, it broke in 2018). I grew up largely in the 2010s, yet I still have these experiences that are synonymous with previous generations. I don’t get why people think these experiences are exclusive to a timeframe, they are very much universal if you seek them or are raised in an environment where your parents show you the stuff they liked as a kids.

Honestly, found the elementary levels to be so much harder. I got thrown into it without the right software updates or a guidebook on how to use the controls so I had to resort to full trial and error for everything. Got locked out of certain future quests because I messed up certain dialogue options early on. I also put all my level up points in areas that would end up not being important later on. I got better at recognizing the story patterns come high school though the other characters started evolving and found my remaining bits of incompetence charming rather than hilarious.

I'm probably too much of an analyzer and optimist - in terms of media - (like I've been watching an American series recently, and I'm just going "that's the same house/set several episodes ago" "oh, this looks like the set from _______, it's also kinda filmed from the same angle" "....that's probably a reference I don't get, but I guess I can appreciate the attempt" "...so this is the approach for this style..." etc. etc. and this happens w/...pretty much everything;; have also been reading manga and going "ah, so they did this so that it can adapt to live action more easily" anyway-) personally, whenever I watch/read sth, I always try to keep in mind the target/intended audience in a way, I guess I kinda use 'being in someone's shoes' or like, 'method acting' (?) to understand things while also using an outside objective and/or subjective perspective (which usually ends up being me daydreaming and end up mind-rambling about sth until I eventually end up rewinding back to pay attention again) • - •) · · · (you see what I mean by rambling so much I forget? -anyway, again) I feel like it's a good way to watch things, but I get most ppl either want immersion or relatability (which in terms of certain content,, I'd like to say those comments -w/ nothing else to add but that - are pretty annoying at this point) and it's much harder to do so while thinking about other things...

I don't get when nerds on twitter get so mad about the girls in their games not being sexy 24/7. It's wild to suggest that, even IF you arent the target demographic, that the art you're experiencing is worthless to you. Marginalized people have been having to deal with mainstream art made for and by straight white people for a stupidly long time, and gotten plenty of value out of whatever we could relate to. Some people really just need to suck it up a little and make room for other creators 😭😭

You are talking about a group of people that absolutely REFUSE to acknowledge that 90% of the media they consume are for children. and will even get outright HOSTILE about it. like DBZ aired on sunday mornings and had a target demo of 6-12 year olds. Naruto and Bleach (and i think one piece) aired during the same afternoon kids anime block as pokemon, YuGiOh, hamtaro and tamaguochi. "But, but.... blood..." yes, because the japanese aren't prudes like americans. Card Captor Sakura was rated 13+ in the US, but that doesn't change the fact it was for little girls in japan. it only got that rating because the show acknowledged gay people exist.

Monks are supposed to be humble and take only what they need, yet corruption and greed ran rampant (and still does) in the clergy. That doorway is perfect to remind monks of their role

13:53 I just want to say that Ninjas changed weapons literally in season 2. Not just into another version of they first weapon. Into generic sword from energy in their colors. After that they changed waepons basically every season. In season 3 they used technoblades, which I don't even know how to describe. That was main main thing. New season = new type of enemie = "Oh, no! Our powers/weapons don't work on them!" = ninjas have to learn new power and get new special weapon, because somehow they have to sale new lego sets.

And yes, it's still basically babysitting for the teachers there too I have a Graduation photo of me on a Graduation Toga from my Kindergarten. And I besides the Principal handing me my diploma like any graduation ceremony, that's it... We don't have a party or anything... My parents just enrolled me to an Elementary school right after lol

Funny enough, that's the only thing like this, it's not the same if it's tea, chocolate, or any other food or drinks... Sometimes, people are just hella dumb.

As an avid ninjago lover who’s watched every episode at least twice (closer to 10 times for the older seasons) I actually kinda liked the new seasons and character designs. Lloyd really needed an upgrade, so did coal and jay. Tho tbh Kai couldve stayed the same cuz the flame shaped hair they gave him did make it feel like they’re shoving the fact that he’s a fire elemental down my throat. I liked the stories and most of the new character designs. I feel like ppl are hating it purely cuz it’s different which sucks

As kids we interpreted adulthood as "Fulfilling our deepest fantasies without authorative restraint", which inevitably fades out yet some crappy people wants it to convert into "Being a husk of restlessness and restraint from half of our previous hobbies amidst the fear of morphing to a slug". Especially in hypergenderisms, but mostly masculinity (as I'm a male and is uninterested in the female social rubric) where even looking at a pink teddy bear will leave you paranoid for weeks thinking all your gym time and drinking void-black coffee will go to waste in a matter of seconds. Speaking of gatekept adulting, it's weird that we're obliged to think that adults shouldn't drink plain milk. Like I've grown too old for cow juice and perhaps now I have to be some sort of hollywood mafia boss for it to be valid? Odd. moral of the story: adulting (and occasionally life in general) should consist of enjoying your crap regardless of peer restraint

3:08 I actually think nerd media was made worse by white nerdy dudes. A significant of us nerds were Asian because of the model minority stereotype (aka, the label was pushed onto us). As a result of nerds being Asians, Sailor Moon, Ranma 1/2, all the early CLAMP stuff (Chobits, Tsubasa, xxxHolic, etc. They also did the character design for Code Geass), Revolutionary Girl Utena, Bubble Gum Crisis, 3x3 eyes, Slayers, etc. were brought to the US and popularized. When white nerdy dudes started flooding the area, it went from a varied genre to "underdog male with give/inherited power levels up and fights stuff (often in a tournament)". Instead of enjoying the varied plots and stories, it became a power fantasy. They all went from Dragon Ball Z to Yuyu Hakusho to Bleach/Naruto, to Attack on Titan to One Punch Man (no shade on OPM, I love it for its ridiculousness), to Boku No Hero no Academia. And now to all the isekai stuff. It really doesn't take a lot to see that a lot of the white nerds like anime just for its power fantasy instead of... you know... everything else about it.

@@__-fm5qv yes, fresh food is much more expensive and doesn't last as long. If you get government help to buy food it's not enough to actually buy healthy despite how often they tell you to. At least boxed potatoes are literally just dried potato flakes that need water to become potatoes again. There are better ways to cook them though.

To be fair, monks were not supposed to live decadent, self-indulgent lives. They were supposed to live simple, poor lives, especially if they had taken certain vows. So seeing a monastery actually enforce it is actually refreshing, because most orders did just become very undisciplined and fat and wealthy instead of doing charity or abstinence.
