I really appreciate your videos so much. You talk about a side of running that isn't talked about as much, but to many runners, these are the real things we experience, the layer underneath this thing we love to do. Sometimes I listen to your videos on loop because it takes time for me to process these things and build my awareness. Thank you for sharing your art.

You keep coming up with great new perspectives. Thanks, and I used you questions. Yes I was addicted before. But I think my relationship with running is much healthier now. Good check in

What do you think the difference is that made you have a healthier relationship with running?
@MagnusOron18 күн бұрын
@ After training for another Ultra I realized I wasn’t their for the family. Pretty confronting moment. I took a break from training for a few months to reflect. This reset my brain and I view running very differently now. I am not saying I am now immune. But I can compare then and now which helps as a reference point. If that makes sense
@JustAnotherRunner18 күн бұрын
@@MagnusOron that makes total sense. I'm impressed you had the insight and awareness to do what you did. Not many people can do that.

Can’t say about running weather I am addicted to it or not but man the way you make these videos, I believe the running fraternity soon will become addicted to it. Simple & Serene!!❤

Great questions. As someone in recovery from other addictions, this is something I keep an eye on, and if my answer to too many of these questions become “yes”, I know I need to take a step back!

I think most of us runners have other addictions too. Or at least we would if we didn't run.

I love the content and style of your videos, and this one in particular helps me reflect on running and my relationship with it. I’ll take some time to think about and reflect on these guiding questions in my journal. Thank you for your videos that delve deeply into the mental side of this sport and encourage thoughtful reflection. A healthy change from all the "GO HARD OR GO HOME" stuff! :)

I'm glad you appreciate it. Sometimes I feel like all I do is play "devil's advocate" to try and get people to think outside the box. Sometimes it resonates. Sometimes it doesn't.

Addicted to the discipline! I envy those who get the runners high. I run an estimated 2500 miles per year and have never experienced it.
@JustAnotherRunner7 күн бұрын
@@PACTify the fact that you’re addicted to discipline might say otherwise 😂 why else would you be addicted to something unless it felt good and released those chemicals? You may not have noticed it but I bet you have experienced it!

Good point here. I'm periodically using similar questions to check this up, in particular regarding how the balance is between running and social life. Not addicted here. On the other hand, isn't there also an addiction to NOT exercising? The more one avoids sport and exercises, the more it is difficult for his brain to appreciate it, keeping him in a state of excess of inactivity. Funny how the norms and standards (more inactive people than active) makes one more likely to be concerned about doing too much sport than the opposite.
@JustAnotherRunner17 күн бұрын
Oh absolutely. It's all about striking a healthy balance. There are much worse things to be addicted to than running!

Spot on, I can relate! A couple years back I would get anxiety if I missed a run. It would put a major damper on my day if I didn’t get out. Also lead to some injuries... I took some time off doing other hobbies and now I’m just getting back to running more frequently again 🤙

Ultra runner here... and I choose Option C... neither. No on all counts. 😂 I'm the rare distance runner who just does it for the long days in nature, the camaraderie, the challenge, and the food! I've never gotten injured or sick from a slow ultra, unlike when I hammered road 5ks. Running is an important part of my life... but it's not my life. I've always said I'll quit and pick up a new sport the day running adds more stress and guilt to my life than enjoyment. Great video, i just found you. I'm looking forward to checking out your channel!

I am very anxious and do not feel good if I miss a run. And those days suck, espexxialif this are like 2 days in a row. And when I am sick (like right now), I start off running sick; if I have the energy, what I will do is go to the gym. Ligtf some weights since this is similar to running. I am still making progress and giving my body time to "rest"
@JustAnotherRunner15 күн бұрын
Sounds like exercise addiction my friend. I feel you tho. I get the same way when I'm sick.
