My daughter passed away at the age of 22 in 2018. I am having the hardest time letting go of any and all of her belongings. Ironically, she had no problem getting rid of stuff no matter how sentimental any of it was, with the exception of a few items. I’m sure she’s looking over my shoulder, yelling at me to let go of her crap because if she were around, most of it would have been used to make a bonfire 🔥

So sorry for your loss 😥🙏🏼💖. I can imagine it’s hard to let go of her things as you don’t have her anymore and want to hold on to them because it feels like you still have pieces of her in your life..I don’t know what I would have done in your situation but I really hope you’re doing ok 🙏🏼. These things can take time and you have to be emotionally ready. Maybe you can go through all the stuff together with a loved one/best friend, cry it out and see what feels right to hold and what to let go? Love from Amsterdam 🌸✨

Thank you for this video. Just moved into a downsized home this weekend and was overly optimistic about what I could keep, much of it sentimental. I need to purge till I get to the new "downsized" life I want and this will help me let go of so many things. I know I can do it but this video helps me with the "I should keep" moments.

I found that's after my parents died it's another level you go through the loss of them gone but feel after you give things away you do feel free but it's takes time you have to take your time and have to remember you have lots of time and give your self lots of grace you will get there:)

For me, I’m afraid to get rid of stuff for fear of forgetting the memory or time period of my life. Worried that when I’m older I’ll forget and having the item will spark the reminder. 😢

I think you addressed the question I had, about my husband and the extra table we have in our living room. I think it’s because it reminds him of a time when he worked for Widdicomb furniture and finished this table. I even saw him right his name under it at one time when we took it apart. And I totally get it. Now to slowly convince him that’s why he has an attachment. Not going to be easy! Ty

I am getting better at not accepting items people would want to give me. I just say no thanks and that I am decluttering. In the past I would take it even if I didn’t want it. Very seldom is it something I really want or could use. I used to be so afraid of offending someone for not taking things. My mother feels she has to display every gift she has been given. I’m the one who cleans her house and it is so much more time consuming with all this stuff!
