Dan, honest to God, indifference to the pain WHEN THE PAIN IS RAGING ( i.e. when you are in the middle of a flare-up that takes forever to die down) is the toughest challenge in this journey. You can only take it for so long. Crying helps, in my experience. Anyway, this is another hugely instructive video worth its weight in gold.

TMS is sooo much like being trapped failed relationship or going through a divorce . You have years of investment , dedication, fear of change and strong emotional ties . Grab a pair of Dan Buglio certified scissors and make one snip per day . Just one snip and move on ! 💗

You seriously are doing great work… I hope you know that profoundly. Just hearing you talk calms me because during the worst of my pain I listen to your videos nonstop. I am now pain-free with the exception of occasional flareups… And I just tune in to your video and I feel better. That severe pain I once had has never ever returned like I said just occasionally I’ll get little twinges But nothing severe

This, to me is by far the best video Dan has made. This is the attitude and mindset that chokes out TMS! Gotta take that attitude “Whatever! , I’ve got s**t to do!” Love it!

Love the analogy about pouring stress back into stress makes more stress and pain. The fire image is great. I’m an artist and very visual. It’s time I used that gift with TMS brain work. Super advice. 👍🏻👍🏻

Sometimes if I flare up I close my eyes, relaxing, breathing and imaging pouring a bucket of water over my fiery symptoms . Hiss and watch a cloud of steam evaporate into the sky. 💗

Thanks for the kind words Janet. Nothing good can come from stressing out about a stress illness. Soothe, calm, breathe, smile.

I found indifference hard for me to do..but I am a relgious oriented person so I thought of the closest relgious way to look at this. It was easy. “Gods Will Be Done.” I used this prayer to help me with a cure a dependency..so I use it for TMS. It is soothing also because I feel like I have some extra Help. Whatever Works!

@Pain Free You Thanks, Dan! You’ve given me the strength & knowledge that I can do life, my body is Not the problem, and that I can get well despite what others in the med community have said. I’m not broken. You are such a blessing to All of us! It’s apparent to me that your past pain struggle was used as a vehicle to bless and change so many others who are suffering to heal & live happy, productive lives. Thank You!

Awesome yet again. Love your breakdown of is it TMS? Accept it and know that you are not broken. Feel painful emotions and then self soothe. Change mindset to absolute indifference. Put so simply that even I get it Dan 👍😆

Im really struggling with indifference. I try not to care but I still am constantly thinking about it. It reminds of me of the example of someone telling you to not think of an elephant; the first thing you do is think of the elephant.
@PainFreeYou4 жыл бұрын
If indifference is not available or seems impossible in the moment, the response I suggest is to reassure ourselves that it's just TMS and that it's temporary and that we are on the right path. And since it's just TMS and not a broken body, it's easier to turn down the fear and take the attention away from the pain. And since fear and attention fuel the pain, doing so will result in less anxiety about the future and the pain should settle down and eventually go away when the brain gets the memo that we are actually already okay.

Love you videos, Dan, thank you. I am confused about how can I have strong belief that I can defeat TMS, i.e. believe it can go away, and at the same time be indifferent about the pain? Seems contradictory. When you talk acceptance, do you talk about acceptance of TMS or of the pain itself? or both?
@PainFreeYou4 жыл бұрын
When you believe it's TMS - you know it doesn't matter and you can not care about (be indifferent) the pain because you KNOW it's TMS. You KNOW your body is not broken. I don't speak about acceptance much. I speak about choosing your response to the pain. "Whatever". Not caring and shifting FOCUS to anything other than the pain itself. Try to put as little attention on the pain as possible. Feel your emotions. Soothe your body - calm your thinking. Don't care if you hurt or not. Shift your focus away from the pain as much as possible. That's it. Hope that helps.

Dan it’s ok if it takes me longer to get rid of the pain than it does for others, right? I know the answer to this but might be good to hear from you. Initially when I learned about TMS indifference was easier because I felt more hopeful, now altho I don’t have the pain as frequently I still have it and I sometimes start to worry that it’s taking me longer than 1 or two months..this attitude keeps me more focused on the “problem” and I just start to somewhat feel hopeless again. I stopped going to spin classes because I thought I had a type of pudendal neuralgia, I was terrified is an understatement- but now I’m finally stable mentally and wondering if I should start attending those classes again.
@PainFreeYou3 жыл бұрын
There is no normal timeframe. Some get better faster than others. Some slower. In the end, how long it takes you is dependent on how long it takes YOU to teach your brain that your body is fine and the symptoms are unimportant. This video on Exercise and fear may help you answer the question you posed about the spin classes. kzbin.info/www/bejne/imfMaY2ilp59rtU
