Make sure you understand the law and your rights to freedom of movement between the states and territories of Australia.

Karl, can I just take a moment and thank you for all the good you do for us visa holders. Most of the times it feels like these states are constantly after us, treating us like cattle for their own benefits but the service you provide by making these videos is just unthinkable. Also the timing of your videos are just in sync for when I need the information. Once again I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I wish you all the best. Hi Karl. I'm an admin for one of the biggest skilled migration groups in Facebook. I have been following your work for close to 4 years now. Although I personally do not use an agent for my visas, I have seen throughout the years your dedication to help, sharing of knowledge, your transparency and professionalism. This is why you're one out of two agencies I trust and recommend when people ask me for recommendations (although I don't tell them to refer my name to you). I want you to know that the way you and your associates present yourselves through these videos / your website, people including myself can tell you're genuine and that sets you apart from the rest. Keep doing what you're doing. Kudos.

Thank you Karl for empowering us to make decisions without being in constant fear. It's unfortunate that States have to result to bullying and intimidation to pursuade migrants to stay. I agree that fear is not the most strategic method to attract migrants, other incentives including tax benefits, housing affordability and other supports are equally important. Your videos are so inspiring thank you.

The golden ticket we have all been waiting for. Out of interest, if you are offshore and are awarded the 491 Skilled Regional VISA, on your first entry into Australia, is there an obligation to fly in and report to the state that awarded the VISA, or can you settle at an eligible designated regional area of your choosing anywhere in the country? Thank you and your team for the great service. Kind regards 491 Skilled VISA Applicant

Hello Karl, could you please help me with a few questions relating to 491-sbo QLD program, thank you very much Currently I’m running a business which was previously purchased for 100k, and I have the intention to apply for QLD 491-sbo, I have a few questions hope to be cleared: - As mentioned by Migration QLD, I cannot relocate or sell the business before receiving QLD approval. Currently, the business is not doing so well, so I’m looking for opportunity to sell the business. Can I sell the business right from the moment I get nomination from QLD, or I have to wait for visa grant, which probably takes a further 6 - 8 months? - Migration QLD also mentioned that I need to operate the business for 3 years from visa grant, does it mean it must be the same business, if yes I found it’s contrary to what they mentioned earlier? Can I sell this one and relocate? Once again, thanks for your time. I’d appreciate your response.

Hi Karl, does this applies to 494 dependent visa holder as well? My husband is the dependant and will work in regional places for an employer who is based in Melbourne. He is a tradie so he doesn’t have a specific workplace but he will be taking up jobs such as loading/ unloading goods, painting, landscaping etc. Can he continue to work for the Melbourne company that he used to work previously but now in regional post codes only? Thanks

Hi Karl, Thanks for putting out such great content. It’s very informative and helpful. I received NSW 190 nomination and waiting for my grant but because of some emergency, I will have to move to Victoria. Is it okay to do so, since most of the commitments to live and work in the sponsoring state starts after the visa is granted.

As long as you intend to move back to NSW after the visa is granted then yes that would be fine. Thanks for the feedback Fahad

Thanks for the video. My question is, once your visa was granted, you travel to Australia within the year that you you were given in order to activate the visa and then you have up to five years to move to Australia. So, my doubt is what if you do not go to the state that sponsored you for whatever reason, lets say Queensland, while offshore you find one in Victoria and you stay there. The five years have passed and you have the chance to either apply to the Resident Return visa or Australian Citizenship, so what happens there, is the state that sponsored you involve in that process? Does the state have the power to block your citizenship application or resident return visa?

Moving before your visa is granted depends upon what you agreed to when you applied for the nomination Jyoti. After the visa is granted you can move to any area on the list at that time. Please book a time if you would to discuss your circumstances in detail.

Hi Karl, thanks for such an insightful video. I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to apply for 190 and have been waiting for grant for the past 8 months. I recently received a job offer with significant increase in responsibility and salaries package but it’s in another state. Question is can I move while I’m waiting for the 190 grant? I feel it will be such a huge wasted opportunity if I don’t take the offer…TIA

Hi Karl! For 190 visa and remote work offers, would there be a conflict? Thank you Karl, this is very informative! Would you be able to help shed some light on whether we can enter Australia to visit another state for a short holiday before relocating permanently after granted the 491 visa? This would mean that I still won't have a permanent address in Australia after my first entry on the 491/190 visa and woud only have it once I relocate permanently.

Your BVA will have certain conditions that you must comply with but I doubt it says you must only work and live in a regional area. There would be no issues in staying in Sydney until the visa is granted, then after grant the grace period is to move within 3 months of the grant date.
