Why the hell couldn't Fellowes let him be happy with Richard Ellis, they were perfect for each other and the actors had sizzling chemistry. 💙~ instead they have him leaving all he holds dear to be a 'something ' to a sleazy actor ~ dreadful

I agree. Fellowes committed the most heinous crime of theatre - he told us, rather than showed us. Can you imagine the character arch in having Ellis' story with Thomas acted out? His decision, despite being as "out" as a person could be in that era, to marry a woman? Thomas' reactions? It could have been its own miniseries! And, come to think of it, very E.M. Forster - very Maurice and Clive. And that sleazy actor is now Prince Charles!!
