As a UK Command Surgeon who was deployed to the Middle East in 2022 with US forces I rewrote the policy to ensure all US Service persons who suffered mTBI from attacks on bases were recognised with Purple Hearts. I’m a retired Air Force Veteran. I think it’s deplorable that he described those Traumatic Brain Injuries as headaches. After I suffered my Traumatic Brain Injury while serving on active duty, I spent five and a half months in the hospital recovering, had to relearn how to take care of myself, was medically retired, and still suffer debilitating symptoms 10 years later. They weren’t headaches President Trump.
