To make something clear: These are concepts. I tried to give price point options. I do not presume to know anyone’s budget so I am just trying to educate. Take the info and create your own list-research and find products in your budget, these are just the things I am using. There are TONS of things on the market. Hopefully the concept is what came through.

Yes I appreciate all products at varying price points it took me 2 weeks to do my research and I like the list of the ordinary. Will study a couple of serums you mentioned also. Thanks for being consciences in your research for all levels of needs. Just one note when it comes to our crowning glory (our hair) it is amazing how my boundaries can expand though. Love your videos!! Have you ever tried or looked into the hair brand Actiiv?? I'm a licenced hairstylist and saw it at CosmoProf. I've bought it for 3 people and they have all had very positive results with it. It not only stops hair loss, but also promotes hair growth. I would love and if you could look at the ingredients and see if it's something that you would recommend.

Wow. I never would have guessed you had extensions. Such a timely video! My own hair is down to my waist and I’ve found that using Olaplex has almost entirely ended hair breakage. I like the entire line but use 4 and 5 (the shampoo and conditioner) twice a week and just those two products alone really help. While they don’t do anything for thinning hair, I’d recommend adding a bond multiplier product to make the most of the hair we do have, especially if it is colored. Thanks for such informative content!

I keep forgetting to use my Olaplex (not the shampoo/cond. but treatment). Don't remember which number. I saw a hair dresser tip that she mixed it in when she colored her hair. I would have thought it might mess with the color.

Yes!!! I have Olaplex in my blog post that goes with this video! I was a hairstylist when Olaplex launched- it was hair-changing. Now I’m using the #0 and #3 before I shampoo and it is helping my breakage so much also 😃💜 I don’t have a ton of extensions in-just enough to fill in my ends 😊😊 I am actually an extension educator (I teach other stylists how to apply extensions) 😊

@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE I knew you did hair & wear extensions but didn't know you taught that too. I'd like to see an episode about extensions. I realize most people will go to a professional unless they use clip-ins or a halo. I researched to learn how to do my own sew-in attached to a bead line vs a braid. The process is easier than learning color, It's just ackward. I'd like to learn more about finding good quiality hair resources. JZ Styles is very nice but expensive, F-shine is good for the price. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I've learned so much from watching your channel & I'm grateful for your guidance! Wishing you abundant Blessings!

Thank you so much Penny! This is such a great resource. Over the past couple of years I started noticing my temples, hair line and crown were thinning. I am 31 years old. I am currently trying to regrow my hair after I tried minoxidil. I made an uneducated decision to use minoxidil after a coworker suggested it to me. She gave me 2 bottles to try and then I started having crazy hair fall which I read was part of the minoxidil process. After seeing this distressing process I read that minoxidil is not advised for child bearing age. I stopped it immediately. Had I known more about minoxidil and did research I would not have started it. So far for the past 3 months I have been microneedling my scalp with the dermapen at 1.5 mm weekly, applying onion juice 3 times a week and doing a green tea rinse, and taking Viviscal, along with drinking my hair tea mix (collagen powder, MSM, bhinraj powder, Amla powder in green tea). I have seen a lot of growth but I want to try incorporating the red LED and high frequency wand too. I made my own concoction of hair oils (castor oil, pumpkin seed oil, rosemary essential oil, fenugreek seeds, MSM, cedar wood essential oil, bhingraj oil) but I hate the way it leaves my hair greasy. I will try the serums you recommended. I have been tracking my progress while on my own protocol and I see a lot of regrowth. I want to add more modalities you recommended to increase my hair density and stimulate hair growth. Thank you again! Your content is fabulous. I am a little scared of the high frequency wand, can you tell me if it hurts? Since I already microneedling at 1.5 mm, how does the high frequency wand compare in terms of pain/discomfort?

The Ordinary Serum and Application: -I'm in my mid-30s and have been shedding hair at an alarming rate for about a year (exactly along the areas Penny explained were most commonly affected). I started using The Ordinary Serum approx 3 months ago, and within a week noticed the level of shedding DRAMATICALLY decreased. BUT you HAVE to do it every night, especially at first. -Application: Initially I was using the same method that Penny showed, but was going through 4 droppers-full a night--too much! Now I've about halved the amount of serum I use, and the application is much faster: I squeeze out 1/2 dropper full onto my fingers, from the pads of my fingers starting at the third knuckle to the tips of my fingers; then, just to the right and left of my center part, I carefully pat my fingers along, with the fingers angled toward the center (of my part); I carefully pat/tap backward, starting with using the bottom area of my fingers (that has liquid on them) to finally, at the back of my scalp, using the very tips of my fingers. Then I add another 1/2 dropper to the tops of my fingers, and press them, front to back, on the next left and right sections. Then I repeat again, and sometimes a fourth time, so that I cover the top of my head, from ear-to-ear. Super difficult to explain the process (much easier to just show it, like Penny did), but I wanted to share the process because it's been faster and easier, plus uses much less serum. Hope it helps you, no matter which serum you choose!

I’ve had a lot on these last 15 years with very poor health and frequent hospitalisations. But the thing that upsets me most is hair loss. It’s taken 5 years of seeing an nhs dermatologist once a year as they keep postponing review appts …to get any advice. ….they suggested mixodil after I suggested it! But I have to buy it myself as nhs won’t pay for it. They put me on paraffin based shampoos and greasy steroid lotions. Penny this video just meant so much. I felt like I was listening to an expert in what practically works off prescription. You make it clear to see a dermatologist first. And that you’re just advising the none prescriptive elements. But you’re the first person that’s mentioned these things that I could have been doing all along. I’m on mixidil 5% due to being in none child bearing years. It’s helped. But it’s expensive. And thank you for saying it ruins your hairstyle!! I will try all your recommendations and I can’t thank you enough. You’ve given me hope ❣️❣️❣️

Those are fantastic devices (in my opinion) using laser light (which is columnated ((focused)) light) as opposed to LED which is scattered light. Both are low level light therapy when it comes to hair. Laser is definitely more potent, but usually more expensive and the helmets that are out now are only good for the hair (which is fine, but limited to just that) whereas LED panels can be used for multiple things. 😊 All things to consider 💜
@Ulfscher
@Ulfscher 3 жыл бұрын
If I also may chime in - My first purchase was a HairMax LaserBand 82, and it seemed to work fine. I later bought a lasercap with 272 lasers because it's just more convenient. I also have one of those LED panels for all over use, incl. hair. Near IR is great for anti-inflammatory purposes which is great because inflammation may contribute to hair loss.

As a black woman, I’d like to say that, at least in my personal experience, what it felt like was that my hair was becoming more tame and manageable. Something many black women may want, because they’ve spent a lifetime trying to tame their hair. What was actually happening was that it was miniaturizing and thinning. The hair was thinner and drier. On top of that, I began to have less time for self care over the years. So, washing my hair became an occasional luxury. That probably didn’t help.

According to the “Hair loss show”-specialist you only need to use minoxidil once a day, since it is active for 21 hours. It takes about 90 minutes for the liquid to absorb on the scalp and after that they mean you can wash your hair. If you apply it before bedtime you can rinse your hair in the morning if you need to. I’ve had great success in strengthening and thickening my hair this way without having to deal with the gummyness. I’ve used minoxidil for 6 months now.

I have used Minoxidil, and to avoid the gummyness you have to apply it on a damp scalp, otherwise it will look gross, and also you have to air dry your hair because the heat of the hair dryer deactivates the product.

Hi Penny. First and foremost, very happy that you well and safe after all that has been going on in Oregon. Thank you very much for this video. I have been using Harklinniken serum and shampoo for a while now and I have to say that I am amazed at the results! I had moderate hair loss in the mohawk area and now I have a nice clean part again! As a result of your video, I will definitely incorporate more LED and high frequency. THANK YOU! 💜

Can you discuss the effect of dry shampoo on hair growth? I’ve heard that it can cause hair loss/clog follicles, but I use it to help me only wash my hair just 1-2 times a week. I use a clarifying shampoo and Nioxin 6 shampoo each time I wash. I would live to hear your input on this since dry shampoo is so popular now.

I'm male and my hair started thinning 20 years ago. The hairs on the top of my head were totally miniaturised. There was only peach fuzz on top. 9 months ago I started using laser/LED (almost) every day and brush my hair with a boar brush in the morning. When I remember to do it, I massage my scalp a few times a day for a minute or so. I also started getting PRP 6 weeks ago, and I had my second treatment a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if enough time has passed for PRP to do any of its magic yet. My hair is still sparse, but a lot of my miniaturised hairs have been reactivated from vellus hairs into terminal hairs. I'm getting an actual hair line which resembles the one I used to have many years ago, although it's not nearly as thick. The important thing to remember is that it usually takes a very long time before you notice improvements. It took 3 months before I noticed anything, and 6 months until others noticed. I'm at month 9 now and am nowhere near the full head of hair I used to have. It might take 9 more months until I'm there, or it might never happen. I used to have shoulder length hair which I kept in a ponytail, and that's what I used to wish I could get back to. Now I'm not so sure though - I've kept my hair buzzed short for many years, and it's very convenient. It would still be nice to have options, to not be bald.

It can be that the testosterone is converting to another type of androgen called DHT. Some try Saw Palmetto with success.
@Ulfscher
@Ulfscher 3 жыл бұрын
@@echase416 - I personally believe that it's risky to use systemic 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, whether it's Saw Palmetto or drugs like Finasteride. It's rarely a good idea to manipulate hormone levels. What you can do is use a ketokonazole shampoo which will disrupt the DHT conversion locally. Red light also reduces DHT in the scalp.

@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE of yes I learned something for sure. I fully believe though that skin/ hair care at the level majority desire, the price is out of control for the average person. It's only been recently that brands are giving us a basic & quality product. I've been trying to grow hair back for years & unfortunately most products are simply unattainable due to cost. You never need just one. One is used in conjunction with another, then for best results now another is needed. & on & on. I appreciate all of your information. And everyone I know could only afford 2 maybe 3 of those items.

Hi all, I have Rogaine feedback since some of you may wish to use it and combine with other treatments Penny describes. Yes, it is really gummy when put in dry hair, however if I apply it to my scalp when my hair is wet, it doesn’t gum up my hair. Also, just use generic minoxidil, use the foam for men which has no scent. Best!

After having a few too many COVID lockdown wines, I bought 9 months worth of supplements from Beverly Hills MD (Dermal Repair Complex) off a facebook ad. I had low expectations, but honestly it has worked wonders for my skin and hair. It has saw palmetto which helps suppress the DHT hormone that causes hair loss. I have a lot of new hair growth starting to come out and I noticed a big difference in the tightening of my skin within 4 days. Seems to be a hit with some people and a miss with others, but worth checking out.

Hair loss has been my biggest issue in recent years. I'm in my 40s.. I had fine hair, but tons of it, very long. When my husband died suddenly, then my mother & best friend also passed, my hair started breaking off and also falling out in clumps. Stress & grief was at insane levels which I assume was the biggest factor, plus I was not eating or sleeping, ;losing weight quickly. Now I am just trying to get it back. I lost at least 2/3. Now starting to fill in but taking forever to grow. Taking vitamins, using rogaine, trying shampoos, oils, masks, etc. It is finally not coming out in handfuls when I wash it.

Omg Wendy I am in the same boat as you! I was recommended minoxidil by my coworker and I didn’t know (me being dumb, didn’t research minoxidil and so I took it for 1.5 months and experienced massive hair fall which resulted in 50% loss of hair density). I didn’t like the side effects and I am of child bearing age so I stopped it immediately! I have been using my own protocol to regrow my hair (dermapen weekly, onion juice application 3x weekly with green tea rinse, drinking my own herbal tea mix, taking Viviscal twice a day). I’ve been using my protocol for 3 months now with good progress but I will try to incorporate the high frequency wand and red LED, along with the serums Penny recommended.
