Indeed, it's transformed my philosophical perspective. For years, I was unaware that others didn't perceive sound as I did. Now, I've begun to share this fascinating revelation.

Bring attention to the sound, and you'll hear everything, overtones included. Even without knowing nothing about the brain. [I suggest to listen to Tibetan monks' overtone chants]

I hear the lowest 3-4 notes through the speech. But I only hear the higher notes when there's less of the consonant-type sounds. BTW reality and truth are not made up in your mind. Perception is. Perception is neither reality nor truth. Whether or not you notice something has no bearing on whether it is real or true. Maybe that distinction was lost in translation. But in English that statement is total woo woo nonsense. :)

The complexity of individual auditory systems is vast, with some processing certain harmonics faster than others based on pitch and various factors. Professors Peter Schneider and Annemarie Seither-Preissler's works provide insightful exploration into this. Perception is truly personal. We seldom acknowledge how photons around us in the otherwise dark space create visual impressions by triggering electrochemical reactions in our eyes, leading to brain signals that convince us of the existence of bright objects. Remarkably, these photons are single-use, uniquely processed by each observer. Every person experiences the world through their own unique photon lens. It's quite astounding that a shared reality is even possible.

My truth says this is not truth. I need more information, as in, how are you leaving out consonants, etc, when you are singing. How about using some English words, so we can understand what you are singing, or not? Or is it important to our brains to use "nonsense"? Picking a melody we all know doesn't seem like a good thing to start with either. We all know (at least those who have studied human behaviour) that humans will do their best to please the testor... Make it really random and I won't start singing along with the tune in my head (possibly making it up) the whole time.

Both the nonsense syllables and the familiar melody help to shift perception quickly and reliably. Unknown melodies take longer to recognise. For speech sounds that are similar to your native language, it is harder to recognise the melody because the speech recognition patterns are triggered more quickly. After a few days of practising this type of listening, you will be able to recognise the overtones in speech. And this leads to an empathic perception that can go so far as to recognise different degrees of deviation between what is spoken and what is thought, e.g. lies, but also suppressed feelings. Very exciting for therapists.
