Anthony Giordano I agree, but I hate these blanket statements that is just mental. Anyone who has ever actually done difficult physical training, I’m not talking about high school sports, I’m talking about swat schools, military selection etc will tell you your mind is not enough. Be country strong: running is the most important thing to focus on because it takes the longest to develop. To be a fast distance runner requires a strong core (planks and pushups) abs (situps). Add long walks and doing stairs every second step (just walk them to spare your knees) with 35 lbs weight. But mostly, the time your not working out or running, get a job at UPS, on a farm, or a moving company so you get used to using your body and all the small muscles that dont get covered by basic excercises.

Great advice Matt. There is one thing about basic. You will NEVER have any real time that you are not under physical strain. We were at double time every movement the formation made. Rifle was carried at port arms and never slung. When we stopped, we were at attention or parade rest. No sitting, rarely did we take seats for a block if instruction. Sleep deprived and physical stress takes a toll. We trained 6.5 days per week. It us doable and you are giving advice I wish I had before I shipped. @draza3083 Жыл бұрын
Wait what?! You need to do 7.5 min a mile to comfortably pass through BCT?
@tidefanyankee24286 жыл бұрын
EVERYTHING is easier if you're in shape and it's one less thing to have to worry about. You can watch videos on PT tests for most of the services right here on KZbin....look them up. Too many go with the lifting weights and some running style workouts, and that's great, but don't neglect body weight workouts either. If you can, a bench press, push up workout is great. You can buy a pack, and any pack will do, it doesn't have to be a military style ruck, or you could get a weight vest from Walmart. Put some weight in the pack and walk.....it's that simple. Do not....put more than you can handle in it. For an average guy, I'd say 20 lbs would be OK. Vary your weight, distance and speed...ruck marching is a great overall body conditioner. Also, try ruck marching after you've done some calisthenics or even a run to "pre-exhaust" yourself, just don't make the ruck march too long or carry too much weight. If you have some hills near where you live, run up, walk down....ruck these hills as well, it builds a great deal of power. Oh, and make sure you bring some water.....you need to be hydrated. Warm up prior to your workout, and stretch out really well when you're done. If I were any of you, unless you're a total beast, I wouldn't go all out on your initial PT test...don't destroy yourself...you want to leave room for improvement and you very probably will improve, your body doesn't have much of a choice with all the planned and incidental PT you'll get like when you get smoked...... and you will... Best advice I got was first, make sure you pass....but don't be first, and certainly don't be last.....Even if you're first, your DI, DS or what ever will still want to see some improvement and if you have a bad day later in training they may think you're being lazy (sandbagging). If you're last, you're GOING to get lots and LOTS of personal, individual attention and you don't want that kind of undivided attention. No one says you can't go all out on your final test though.... If you're in DEP, you have no excuse to not workout....take advantage of the time you have before you go. Make working out just part of your daily routine like brushing your teeth...make it a habit. You can even split up your workouts....morning, afternoon, night...etc.. If you have a month before you go, start now, you're going to get sore at boot camp anyway so it makes no difference. If you're overweight, lose the weight BEFORE you go to boot camp.

@Signull7 жыл бұрын
I'd put it around 2-4 years. The U.S. Army at least from what I know of are shooting for 90% - 95% combat readiness, within these 2 years. They're also testing out new lightweight jungle uniforms (Basically the same as OCP but better material and less pockets) This is probably aimed for North Korea. about 80% of ground troops are now training for jungle warfare and using face paint again. So those are basically "Hints" that there's going to be something going on quite soon.
@MattWard897 жыл бұрын
I’ve talked about that with North Korea and if I had to guess I would say them. But you can’t tell for sure. Things may blow over and something else comes or or maybe a new terrorist Group comes up and attacks us majorly on out soil.

Do push ups and sit ups like this, 2 minutes work, 2 minutes rest, 1.5 minutes work, 1.5 rest, 1 work, 1 rest, 30 seconds work. That really helps. For running just run some miles 2x a week and 30/60s once a week

@kevin27145 жыл бұрын
David C Depends on branch. By the looks of it, your core needs some work. 15 min is a bit of a mediocre time for 2 miles alone, let alone 1.5 miles. Also, 43 sit-ups in 2 min is failing for most branches, especially if you’re young. Depending on how you felt in that one min, adjust accordingly but still work hard since you should try doing 2 mins of pushups instead.

Can you make a video of when your MENTALLY ready for basically training?

You'll never be 100% fully prepared. You just do it and get it done.

Can you elaborate more on the MEPS pls?

Any healthy person of typical recruiting age should be able to pass. It is the nature of the army beast.

I have a cyst in my wrist (unintended rhyme) and it's sooo hard for me to do more than 25 push ups. Anymore than that and it feels like a stabbing pain in my wrist and I wanna scream from the pain
@uncannyjt96715 жыл бұрын
Don't join with a cyst, get it taken care of first and then get a waiver. I haven't been in the army but I've watched a ton of videos from this guy and like 1 other guy. And I know a cyst isn't exactly a small issue. That's what I'd suggest
@Yamdarnocnivek6 жыл бұрын
Who else knew they were ready but watched the video anyway? 35min 5 mile, 50lbs 12mi ruck, and maxed the PT test lol. Just want to keep supporting the channel and learn all I can.

Damn I only got 52 push-ups in 2 minutes 🙃

Are the pt tests like the fitness gram test for example if u r doing pushup there is a cd that says "up, down, one," do they do that in basic training or do you go at your own pace?
@Signull7 жыл бұрын
Your own pace. My advice, sense you're young, is do as many as possible right when it starts. When you get older your muscles tend to burn out quicker. So take advantage of your muscles whilst you're young. And oh jeez I fucking hated that test in High School worst thing ever.
@benkuethe10757 жыл бұрын
Jacob Lewis I'm 16 turn I'll be 17, 3 months from now and my plan is to enlist right away after high school... but I'm having a hard time trying to gain weight when I have such a fast motabolism... (height 5'6" weight 100 lbs) I don't think I have enough weight to actually join the army currently.
@benkuethe10757 жыл бұрын
Jacob Lewis but thanks for the info
@Signull7 жыл бұрын
No you don't meet the minimum. They might be able to smudge you in though, when you go to MEPS. I had the same problem too with the weight. The only way I could gain weight is by working out and gaining muscle. Do 20-45 pushups a day and 40-75 sit-ups a day and you should see some weight gain. Also make sure you're eating a lot of meat. I use to just eat ramen noodles which made me super skinny.
@benkuethe10757 жыл бұрын
Jacob Lewis lol I eat plenty of meat...

Im 13 and i just started working out 2 months ago, i have wanted to go to the us army infantry for 2 years
@Signull7 жыл бұрын
Not to be a ballbuster, bud. I know you're young and you want to carry guns and shoot people. I use to be like that too. But for now, stay in school, don't do drugs and do well in school! Being infantry isn't as cool as you think it is. Quite frankly it sucks. There are way better jobs out there that will benefit you for when you get out! Best of luck!
@coltnation65747 жыл бұрын
Jacob lewis, thanks i will never do drugs and i have wanted to go to the us army for a while, thank you
@benkuethe10757 жыл бұрын
Jacob Lewis agreed I'm 16 and I have family members who have been infantry men and they said don't think about it there is better jobs out there... like you said. Plan on joining the army combat engineer, and or EOD (B12)
@jacobspassons52497 жыл бұрын
I the same age and I wanted to do that like everyone cause it seems so cool and all but now I know what I wanna be I wanna be a 68w aka combat medic
@benkuethe10757 жыл бұрын
Jacob Passons hey its not about how cool the job is, it's the mater of can you get the certain requirements to join that job, physical fitness and how tough your mental stability is. You shouldn't go for a job just because it's cool (not being mean) any ways you don't get everything in life for ex. It depends on a ton of factors only thing that you can do is set a goal up for your self to increase your chances on getting what you want.

Ryan M. Good luck Benning is beautiful and basic is easy just remember though 30ag aka reception only last about 10 days if your lucky you won't sit there long the only thing that will suck is 30 ag all you do is sit around all day bored out if your mind. But good luck also better start remembering the infantryman Creed trust me.

Woudnt it be easiest just to get to the point of passing the final fitness test before we apply? Then no matter what they throw at us, we'd be fit enough for it, right?
@Mitch-rd9gs6 жыл бұрын
That’s what I’m working towards. I think it’s a smart idea. I’m trying to max the PT test before I even ship so that I know I’d do alright. Lots of work, though.
@ironteacup25695 жыл бұрын
They will pt you till you fail. No amounts of working out will aid you at this time.... that being said you need to pass the “tests” and that’s the “easy” part. Prior service corpsman here. Do what you can to be able to get active and do something to not be sedentary. Oh also so long as you are not the least fit you should be good
