One thing you didn't mention, but I have found amazing in the summer, is a cooling vest. I have a Macna Evo vest and I put about half a litre of water in it and squish it around and combined with a protective jacket with good airflow, my core temperature stays nice and comfortable. I've been on long group rides in mid Australian summer and when we stopped for fuel, other people were all desperate to get drinks to rehydrate because they sweated so much, and I was looking for a toilet instead. Dehydration and heat exhaustion also really effects your reaction times and general mental clarity, so it is an important bit of safety gear in hot conditions.

Its funny how everywhere on youtube and instagram is talking about putting your bikes away for winter, yet here in Australia I'm pretty much about to put it away for then summer because I refuse to ride without gear but can not stand to wear long pants all day if I ride to work (I work outside on black roads so it regularly reaches 40 degrees). Meanwhile I love winter because I'm more than happy to ride to work in a little rain.

The reason you want wool socks isn't the anti-bacterial aspect. It helps but it's not as much as people think. The real reason is the same reason sailors have been using wool coats and hats forever: When cotton gets wet it pulls heat away from your body but when wool gets wet it continues to insulate. Wool is wonderful.

I have various versions of all of these things, and they got me through my trip to the Arctic Ocean. Only additional advice I would have is to pick a heated vest that not only plugs into the bike, but uses a USB plug rather than proprietary plug so if you have a power overload o your bike connections you can plug into a battery bank. Also handy if you want to just use the vest off the bike on the fly. I bought the Doace vest, works great! Sometime I still have to try Flying eyes. I use Helite airbag vest so if it goes off on a trip I can just reload it myself on the trip and don’t have to send it in and wait to get it back. Sometimes I also have to get a camera system, but that’s not really my thing right now. Thanks for the great ideas Doodle!

One thing to note with the Flying Eyes sunglasses, is that you need to check the fit of the glasses while wearing the helmet. My first set of Flying Eyes got pressed down by the forehead pad in my helmet, and was uncomfortable on the bridge of my nose. Other than that, this is a very good product. I took it to Hawaii when I rented a bike there (rental helmet too), and it worked great!

For disc brake locks- definitely worth paying the extra $10 for an alarmed version. At minimum, it'll beep at you when you forget to take it off and stop you from trying to ride with it on and destroying your brake disc. At best, the alarm will deter thieves from just lifting the bike into a van and they'll leave before they draw too much attention

9:30 Bruh that's crazy useful! Never knew about this. I've just used a BALEAF Helmet Liner (amazon) to keep my ponytail up. I'd bring ponytail over my head to my nose tip, put on the Helmet Liner, then the hair from eyebrow-nose that was still not covered I'd sweep up and to the side under the Helmet Liner. I'd then put my helmet on. Fit perfect and meant my long ponytail (went down to _just_ above tailbone, and I'm 6'5" for whatever height reference matters/for however it helps with visual) wouldn't be dragged in a crash/slide and leave me scalped. And man did it work for 2 years+ (eventually chopped it off), but this thing looks more convenient.

6:50 - As a fan of Doodle and Lockpicking Lawyer; I'd like to point out that LPL is sitting at a workbench in his home and can manipulate the lock and picks to any position. He's not in that awkward position of nearly upside down, crouched and bent over next to a motorcycle wheel with the added stress of anyone possibly walking by and catching them. Is it unpickable? No. But it's awkward to pick and incredibly difficult to cut through. It's not about stopping a potential thief; it's about making your bike less enticing to even try to steal it. Or, y'know, don't steal other peoples' stuff in the first place.

So now the young are riding in an air bubble. What happened to real men and women?? Just what we need is a long and short stick sticking out off my motorcycles. Some places the rear brake light on a helmet is illegal as it physically will impede the effectiveness of the round outside of the helmet in a slide. I would never wear one, nor any camera on the helmet. I do not need my neck getting twisted in a crash. I always wear foamy NRR33 earplugs when above 40 mph. I can still hear traffic, people speaking. But I speak loud when I have then in and my helmet on people tell me. LOL. I have never had them become uncomfortable. I guess we all have different ear canal shapes? I throw them into the laundry to clean them and let them air dry after. Have never lost one yet doing this. Still looking for the elusive sock though. LOL After 40 years of riding I have never needed a seat cushion and I have a skinny arse. LOL. I noticed those that rode bikes where they sat straight upright that they always had sore arses and backs. I shaved my head so no hair bun required. LOL For a tire pump I carry a short, tiny very high presssure bicycle pump. It is light weight, no batteries, no charging which means it is reliable and is small so takes up little room and can do a full sportbike and cruiser tire in not a lot of pumps. I wear only a heated vest that has infrared in it on the front, back and the neck collar which heats the main artery in the neck that will warm up all of your body and even the hands as the blood circulates. I like the Venture+ which I have had for 10+ years. It also means I do not need many layers of clothes under my jacket. Are people so cold blooded they need all this heated stuff you mention? I have ridden for hours and hours, 10 hours in temps just above freezing and never been cold. It is important to not have the wind blow up your sleeves (have gauntlet type gloves that go over the sleeve ends at your wrist area), up the coat bottom nor up your pant legs.
