“You know when sometimes you meet someone so beautiful, and then you actually talk to them, and five minutes later they're dull as a brick. But then there's other people, and you meet them and you think 'not bad, they're okay', and then you get to know them, and their face sort of becomes them, like their personality's written all over it, and they just they turn into something so beautiful...” ― Amy Pond, Doctor Who series

People don't hesitate to let you know if you're unattractive. Even if they don't vocalize it you can usually tell in body language or attitude. Sometimes I get tired of being told I have a big heart when most men don't look past the physical to see the big heart
@MrsTruthTeller
@MrsTruthTeller 10 жыл бұрын
It's hard being very attractive too. Men look at me like a sex object, like some sex goddess to conquer instead of a human being. I've had guys literally cut me off in the middle of a sentence to stay it's hard listening to me because they're distracted by my looks. It sucks because it's much harder to get guys to see you have a big heart or a good personality. So be grateful that people can look pass your physical and see the real you. Being attractive is not as great as people think it is. You just are constantly harassed and you get free stuff but other than that, it blows sometimes.
@johnnieshreve5018
@johnnieshreve5018 10 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it's hard both ways but the alienation that comes with being unattractive is painful. People tell you to be positive and think positive but it's hard when people treat you like you're sub human. If you walk into a room and everyone turns their head because they don't want to make eye contact it's not the best feeling in the world

@harry callton Really you judged women as men haters just hecause they didnt agree with your woman hating. Hmmm. I agree with this woman. She and I are a similar age and I am a widow. We have been around awhile, in my case was happily married for 19 years. I have no hatred of men and if I find the the right connection with a man I will be with one. But its not what drives me because I am happy with myself and my life as it is. Being with someone is not a need for me. I am just fine with myself. It might be more fun if I met a great guy though. You set out to tear her down for what reason? You have to realize that women dont dislike all men because they dont care much for your attitude. That is just not liking you specifically and you dont represent all men.

I feel like my heart is under appreciated.. I'm kind, and compassionate, and at times I can be too trusting, or too nice, and I feel like a lot of people take advantage of that.. like someone I'm close to will hurt me, and keep coming back because he knows I'll forgive him.. I get too attached to people.. I focus more on other people than I do on myself a lot of the time. My mom always says my biggest talent is being kind, because there's not a lot of people like that anymore, but I really feel like some people use it as an excuse to get away with hurting me. I know having a good heart isn't a bad thing, I just really wish more people would appreciate it, and treat it right, instead of treating me like a toy.

I have this problem too. It has taken many years, but I've developed strong boundaries. I just don't let people use and abuse me anymore. I don't keep fake friends. I don't hang around others who give me a bad feeling or never support me. I'm alone a lot, but thats ok. I prefer my own company over a room full of fake friends. I've always felt super insecure about my nose. Never really thought I was ugly but I had doubts regarding my physical appearance. But then I think, maybe its just my insecurity speaking. Yes, I do have a big nose. It's not invisible but it doesn't define my beauty. I think accepting and embracing your flaws really help. People have always complemented me. Guys have still been attracted to me but I never believed it. I've always focused on those who called me ugly and never thought twice about the compliments I've received. Just remember guys, your flaws alone don't define your beauty.

Exactly Stella ! Everyone is beautiful IN THEIR OWN WAY! To all you replying your disagreement in a rude way-No one said they like everyone they meets beauty...preference and judgements are two different things. To call someone ugly is a judgement....but saying everyone is beautiful in their own way is a fact. To say you find someone more beautiful or less beautiful to you is a preference. So Stella is not in the wrong...She's just spreading some love and truth🤘

One thing about myself that I think gets underappreciated, is my willingness to talk to anyone. I love having those serious conversations with friends and family, and giving advice. As a man , I don’t want my woman talking to everyone or anyone . I’ve had to explain this to my wife of 7 years now. Week one of us dating, she is so kind and compassionate but with that comes wondering eyes ( not sexually ), but men perceive this as an invitation to flirt even IF the intention are good and that jeopardizes and risks our relationship. The man at the gas’s station maybe could use some help, but one would need to think if it’s worth any issue . Men think “ I have a shot” and makes her relationship and man seem weak. Don’t be willing to talk to anyone . Be a bit guarded and mysterious. You will never stop being compassionate, simply put a layer between being open to everyone and being open to those that truly are worth your efforts. As a psychologist trust me , many people are not willing to be better with solid advice , let alone a strangers help.

Stacey Smith I think a huge part is forgiveness and understanding. If you were bullied as a child/teen by others the same age as you, they may not have really thought you were unattractive, but may have actually felt threatened by you OR one may have made a comment and the others were just being followers and bullying you to avoid being bullied themselves. The thing with bullying as a youth, is that because of the maturity level, the real reason for bullying is often because those who bully are insecure of themselves. Why else would anyone make such an effort to point out another’s “flaws” and consistently draw attention to someone else’s appearance in a negative way? Because they’re hoping to take the attention off of the very thing they’re insecure about, all while putting it out there that “don’t mess with me” and wanting to be feared, so that nobody would be brave enough to point out that the bully themselves is not perfect. Try to think of those people as being insecure and suffering inside at that time, and unfortunately because they were young, they didn’t understand that deflecting their insecurities in this way, on to another, would have such long lasting, and painful consequences. If not you, it would have been someone else. You are beautiful! And even more so because you are strong! ❤️❤️

There are times in a person's life, like myself personally that I really need and want to feel beautiful ...so I need to feel good about myself. I can't give what I do not have! And, in my own small circle...in my own small way I may contribute to the whole aura of something good within my circle of friends, influencing them somehow that there is still so much goodness and beauty in a lot of people...in a word, I can be a disperser of goodness and beauty within the small circle I move in, in my own small way. And this is still about my insecurities and low self-confidence... Once again, thank you so much for being an inspiration to a lot of people, men or women...and myself in particular! It's the best kind of laugh to have! It's obvious and happy and just awesome to hear! so you go ahead and laugh your heart out at whatever you want to because no one should make you feel like you can't laugh because that's like being told you can't have fun or that you can't express having fun and no one (friends, family, partners, etc.) should ever tell you that.

Anyway, I ended up dating a couple of them that I liked and at the time I was so insecure about my looks that I couldn't believe they would date me. I'm not bad looking but they were definitely like super model attractive. As it turns out- they were some of the most boring and un-fun people I ever dated. Not that attractive people are necessarily boring, but I think it taught me the lesson that being physically attractive is only one part (and a seriously minor part at that) of the whole package. They quickly became really unattractive to me. Currently dating my long term boyfriend who is not as physically attractive as the other guys, but I've never been so attracted to someone in my life. Hey, I just found you today. Not sure you will see this or not, but your words, thoughts and what you bring out to the people is what I think about all the time. It's amazing how similar our views are and I'm so glad that you are a figure that could spread the word a lot furthur than I can, but try to do. I'm sure a lot of other people have the same views as us, but I just want to thank you for helping people out and bringing out the best in them.

I never appreciate my strength! I have severe trauma, have been verbally, physically, and sexually abused countless times and abandoned by the ones I love so many times but I'm still here and still fighting. I'm proud of myself. I do have insecurity, but I choose to love my disproportionately large boobs and narrow hips and braces and stomach that isn't quite toned yet but will be as I keep working and taking care of my mental health and drinking water and concentrating on whether I am full or not so I don't accidentally binge on healthy food. I'm 17 years old and I'm strong. If he doesn't like me that way, honestly that's fine. He doesn't owe me anything. But thank you for making this video! I keep telling myself he's too attractive for me but 99% of the feelings for him developed because I saw his beautiful heart. And yeah he's fucking hot but I don't get nervous around guys that are just hot. I treat those guys as an equal. But him! He is hot and has a beautiful heart and I fuck up all the time. But he just doesn't care and it's an amazing quality. Whether he likes me or not, I really hope to get a friendship out of this because people like that don't come around often. But non matter what, I am worthy of love.

I am worth it. usually when I like guys it gives me anxiety and stomach problems and fear and stress and shit like that but honestly I don't spend every second thinking of him. its not a burden to have feelings for him. I embrace that shit! you are worth it too!

N. Fer. Ⓥ I feel you. You are so much stonger than you realize! I have a trauma from my childhood and been in bad relationships after that. Gone through verbally and physically abusement. Narsicism leaves deep scars and wrecks your self-esteem. Trauma effects your life completely. This said, I broke up with my boyfriend this year cause he was also abusive to me. I found the strenght to break the habit and I'm so proud of me! I was strong enough because I believed that I am meaningful, worthy and deserve to be treated with respect and caring. Remember that you are always worth of love and compassion. The road to deal with the trauma is quite long but the process makes you truly strong and conscious about the important things in life. Remember: you are good enough.

Love this video. My looks are very plain and I'm the quiet one. Compassionate, care, compliment, empathy, kindness....and a touch of saucy flirting and coy looks. I'm reserved and only touch and allow ppl I like to touch me..it's a gift. I'm confident in my own skin now after years of insecurity. Shine from within and ppl now notice and appreciate me.

I can't stand when men tell me I have a beautiful personality, and what a great person I am ... yet follow up with but you would be drop dead flawless if you lost a few pounds. I have gained weight because I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and after they performed surgery to remove my thyroid I gained weight. I work out 5 days a week and eat well but it doesn't come off . my Dr says people with hypothyroidism struggle severely with weight gain and trying to shed pounds. personally I am OK with it I have come to embrace my size 14 and learned to live with this incurable disease because I eat right I just can't control the weight I pack on . what can I do so that this isn't an issue .

Yikes! I have hypothyroidism too, but I didn't get my gland removed, neither do I plan to. I read a book called "Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms When My Lab Tests are Normal?" and it opened my eyes to a lot of things. Thankfully, I did research on hypothyroidism before the book as well so reading it only solidified the info I found. It turns out you don't have to get your thyroid gland removed, in fact it's discouraged in a lot of cases. I'm afraid you went to the wrong doctor/person when getting that procedure done because there IS a way to permanently fix hypothyroidism: it involves blood tests that determine where the problem originally started and developing a mainly eating-based plan that will simultaneously diminish the symptoms while healing itself to being a complete reversal. Most people don't even know they have hypothyroidism, let alone how to properly fix it.

Hey Matthew.Thank you so much for this video. This is the first time i have come across such a great explanation about objective beauty and perceived beauty. I think we get so caught up in the objective beauty because we are so exposed to it that we forget that it's not realistic to try to keep up with that in real life. They're two different things. You did an amazing job of explaining it.

I think looks do matter at some extent, I mean we are biologically attracted to beauty of a person's appearance or else the model industry would've gone doomed. Taking care of your skin and body is a sign that not only makes you look attractive but also shows you take care of yourself. Ofcourse the features you're born with can't be changed but the package your given can be improved.

+Serlom Cole Lol you're so naive for thinking personality is everything. obviously you're insecure about your looks that's why you're coming up with such statements. The funny thing is you are telling this to me in this video. Admit it you wouldn't be even here if this was just like some average looking guy who doesn't take care of his hair, body and skin. Sure beauty is subjective but appearance isn't honey. In this world appearance is a major factor cause visual image is the first thing our brain receives. That's why we hear "don't judge a book by it' s cover" or else we wouldn't. Appearance will help you everywhere, in profession, in social life and in love life too.If a person doesn't care about his appearance like his skin,hair and body it tells a lot about him too. Of course appearance isn't everything in relationship, you sure won't date someone who is good looking but is an asshole. People should just take care of their hair, body and skin. Are they good looking or not is subjective.
@saniyauzumaki

+Serlom Cole Also appearance (being presentable) and beauty are two different thing. I am thinking you took my words in wrong way. Beauty is very subjective but appearance isn't but at the same times it shouldn't be everything. People should be confident about their looks and look presentable.

saniyauzumaki am not insecure about my looks am very confident as he has explained in the video he just said that the dumbest thing anyone can do is sit around n mop n complain about their looks coz no one in this freaking world chose which race to be born with twas involuntary so no one should tek credit for that as it isnt an achievement rather he said pple should add value to the world n b best they can b thats more attractive than just mere dumb looks....i meant after looks the underlying factor is personality coz personality keeps bonds stronger....i have been in a situation where i wasnt attracted to a guy but we started chatting n i fell hard over him coz of his personality...

Angie, my dear girl just because you get older does not necessarily mean you are going to have medical issues. I am old as dirt and I am in perfect health. I can run, play racquetball, work out for 2 hours go swimming and I can walk for 4 miles after that. That was me today.You have to stay active eat healthy, keep your mind young and you can still look good! Look at Suzanne Summers, Christie Brinkley, Harris Ford, etc.

There are so many insecure people in the comments, its crazy. "I'm sick of men. I'm sick of dealing with these no good scum." Well guess what everyone, negativity is not attractive. And the more negative you are about yourself, the more people will be repulsed by you. Same goes for men. For certain guys, their perspective is also, "I'M SICK OF WOMEN, I'm sick of dealing with b*tches." Its so funny how both sides hate each other and have the same negativity. Noone wants to be attracted to someone out of pity. Work on yourself and do something about it. Same goes for the guy. Complaining doesn't get anything done. Stop hating and stop bringing out bad thoughts cause that doesn't lead to progress.

Thank you so much for making this video. I've been over weight all my life and have constant insecurities about my appearance. I constantly have negative thoughts that I'll never get a boyfriend because of the way I look, but this video helped me see myself in a different light. There are many aspects of my personalty that I do like but I always thought my weight would hinder others from seeing that. Now I know that people are looking for a package and as long as you have some of the things in that package I can have a shot at getting someone. Thank you again for your message, it honestly made me cry a little because this is a topic I've been struggling a lot with lately, but now I feel a little more confident that there is someone out there for me:)

you are so articulate and so bang on as well. i try and explain this idea to people all the time when they make self-deprecating comments about their looks (as a model, you tend to hear this a lot from people, both girls and guys) and i find it so heartbreaking. I am as insecure as the next person about my looks, even though i get paid for them (in the modelling business one minute you're hot, the next you're not so you learn to not rely on your looks too much), but I know real beauty is an attitude and it comes from confidence in yourself. And that confidence need not stem from your looks alone (although it can, but if that's the only place from which you draw your self esteem from well that isn't confidence, that's vanity and arrogance). It should be drawn from the deep well of who you are as a person. Cos to be truly beautiful you have to be a good person with a good heart.

Hey Mathew, I came about your video by accident and clicked on it simply because of your looks and what a surprise I had after hearing what you had to say. I personally suffer from insecurities at a high level which have held me back in every single way. I don't find myself attractive enough to win someone's heart, I actually never had. Friends say there is no way I'm not attractive but due to my high level of insecurity I think they are only saying to keep me happy. Your comment really is very enlightening and I will try to explore my perceived beauty because based on what you said, it is what is most important about us human beings ( I take that's the point you tried to make right?). By the way you are very attractive man and. Wish I had only a small part of your beauty and well spoken attitude :)
