In this episode of the SDR podcast, we dive into a pressing question: Are car dealers ready to service a growing fleet of 14-year-old vehicles? With the average age of cars on the road steadily increasing, many owners are holding onto their vehicles longer than ever before. This trend presents both challenges and opportunities for car dealerships. We'll explore how dealers are adapting (or failing to adapt) to the rising demand for maintenance and repair services on older models. We'll discuss the implications for parts availability, technician expertise, and customer service, as well as the strategies some dealers are using to stay ahead. Join us as we investigate whether the industry is truly equipped to handle the aging automotive landscape.

Ive worked at several dealerships as a service tech, and hearing your idea of a new method of the dealership model sounds nice. I’ll be honest, I always hated sales, and sales probably hated service and parts just as much. Every department blamed another for problems instead of taking accountability. Hearing about an environment where we are one team serving the customer is refreshing. No departments. I still hate sales though lmao (also every dealership runs the same/similar model from my experience)

I love working on older vehicles but I dread the thought of my advisors talking to the customer. 15 plus year old vehicle owners has dramatically different priorities and outlooks
