@Sim Okay this is the second comment that you have gone on a rant. You have some serious internalised problems, you seem to need to latch on to anything to try to explain why you are right in the situation but your rants lead nowhere. All of your rants can be summed up by saying "I'm a nationalist, not a globalist." The fact you could not figure that out makes me question your intellect.

A. Aden - I mean no offense, but it is a rather acute observation, contrary to your assertion. Just as I will never transform into an ethnic Somali no matter how proficient I may become in the native language or even if I were to gain Somali citizenship, so too can a person of African, Middle Eastern, or East Asian ancestry ever be a Norwegian simply by virtue of language proficiency or citizenship. That’s the only point I was attempting to get across here. Learning new languages can certainly help us all connect and understand each other better across the world, but it does not negate the realities of our ancestry- and to recognize and preserve this is to respect true diversity amongst the races and cultures of the planet...

@@japaniic861 Its the Hieroglyphical esque spelling in English that gets me most. Example, the ou/gh are randomly pronounced. though thought tough out our. You may not believe this, but there are languages that actually give every letter in a word a purpose (eg Arabic) but the downside is, spelling bee competitions would be limited to todlers only, because it would be too easy even for 8 yr olds.

The thing about "looking asian" could be as simple as muscle structure in the face. Different languages require completely different muscles to pronounce sounds, which is why people from the same regions will often have similar facial features. So he may not be asian, but he may have spoken asian dialects long enough that he has features recognizable as "asian".

As a language learner his KZbin channel is an invaluable biography stretching back 14 years that works as a wonderful resource to follow in his footsteps. I myself used to watch him many years ago , but just 10 months ago I decided to learn Spanish, I used his channel alot and his teachings from 14 years ago to reach high intermediate level quickly. I wouldn't have thought it possible without his videos.
