wouldn't say all teenagers that follow streetwear are hype beasts though
@SI-cd7xs6 жыл бұрын
they aren't, european street wear is it's own thing. aside from the american influenced skateboarder stuff stuff i don't see what they have in common...brands like supreme and say stone island couldn't be further apart.
@mohamedizlanshah15017 жыл бұрын
There is no pressure to stay on trend, to me at least. Once you've found your style, there isn't a need to be hype anymore. Just stick to your own individual style. If you like the way you look, that's good enough. No need for supreme,bape etc. To me, I only buy pieces that I actually find nice. I think more people need to buy stuff that they personally like, and not stuff that will get them likes on Instagram and make them the coolest kid. And for kids, below 16, don't be a hypebeast. Spend your time, playing around, laughing, enjoying the simple things. Once you've started working, then you can be as hype as you want.Not trying to hate, just sharing my thoughts. :)

Every generation has their own cringe moments. For my generation it was things like frosted tips. Kids will always look “cringe”. It’s all part of the circle life.
@Iameveryone10117 жыл бұрын
For me streetwear was always about presenting a certain culture, brands like supreme and palace are skate based designs but its kinda strayed away from the skate culture considering everything's priced to shit (not to mention the design is next to nothing). i like brands like clsc, the hundreds (eventhough quality can be a little dodgy) cause that sort of reflected on LA culture. When I look at box logo, it doesn't reflect anything aside from the brand itself. I feel we're on a path where people just wanna be walking ads with brands on their chest. there's no culture to that. *streetwear without culture is just fashion*. in a certain number of years graphics are gonna come back when branding becomes boring. I'm already bored of branding tees...

Most people dont want to listen to the truth, they just wanna follow their idols (celebrities, influencers) which i dont mind. At the end of the day man, its your money. Do whatever you want with that. Just realize that these things are trends and there's gonna be a time where the hype dwindles down.

Interesting video guys. From when I was really into it (early 2000s) to now it is massive. Had a break from about 06-15with money used for house/wedding/kids (growing up basically), and now it's mental. Gotta be a social media influence. Back in the day it was just what was cool in your city (Leeds for me), or what your favourite independents were dropping. But most stuff was accessible. Now it's a real struggle via online drops and hype/overhype to get the bits you want (albeit I mainly just focus on trainers now, I think clothing is down that line too). As said, nice different type of video 👌

Dope vid. When I was more in to streetwear (2003 - 2010) it felt more like a fun community. Of course, there were gems that cost a shitload of money and there have been tons of nights where I set my alarm to put a bid on something on eBay, but at the same time people loved to help each other out. Sharing info, meeting up, trading items (for normal prices), it wasn't just about the hype, consuming, reselling and narcissism. It was just a fun hobby. There seems to be way more pressure nowadays, which sucks. E.g. I don't get why people feel the need to be dressed in hype head to toe. Sure, buy some dope pieces, but combine it with whatever and spend some more money on other things like a nice holiday with your friends. Great memories are forever, a Supreme hoody is not.

Trends have always been trends. And some people follow trends instead of being themselves.
@alanbettley50127 жыл бұрын
Fashion trends and youth have always gone hand in hand. The main difference from present and past is the money involved where punks, mods etc didn't send every penny on what they wore. Their is no longevity in it with kids as eventually we all grow up and money ain't so freely spent when the bills are due to be paid. I fear adulthood will be a massive culture shock for a lot of these kids.

Personally I don't really understand why young people so obsessed with these kind of popularised street wear (no offence), it's kind of like an uniform with a well marketed brand logo on it, that's it no? Will they even appreciate fashion brand like Craig Green, Christopher Kane, No.21, Comme des Garcons etc. when they talk about that they are fashion savvy? I think street style should not make an individual become part of the street style genre, street style should make oneself an individual with personal style and aesthetic. Good video to discuss this issue thou! :)

I dunno guess because I'm a 90s kid I just don't get some shit that's a sign of my age I suppose lol. I understand the pressure of being a kid going to school and wanting to cop dope shit other kids are rocking . This whole "hypebeast" era is crazy. Y'all gonna spend like 500 dollars on a hoodie that says off white and "hoodie" on the front lol. I do get intro the sneaker culture but not hypebeast if that makes sense . Like retro kicks , I'm a sneaker head till the grave always have been . I just know that when I was coming up we didn't pay 300 dollars for a t-shirt maybe close to 2 on some kicks . I also understand times have changed and the price of shit has changed . The whole buying shoes and waiting until there sold out and reselling them for 800 bucks is crazy to me ...yeah it's a hustle but to me it's killing the sneaker head culture . I dunno what I'm trying to say lol . I guess every era repeats itself as of right now the fashion and style is a throwback to the 80s in a way ,the crazy bright colors etc. Give it a few more years the 90s style will come back every decade repeats itself . I'm just a old school sneaker head confused as the why certain shit is deemed 🔥
@josephjohnphillips25357 жыл бұрын
i mean i guess they are but like its not the culture's place to tell people who can and cant become part of the culture, or a lot of the older culture may have been told they cant become part of it because they'll ruin back when it wasnt trendy. Also, after the 'hype' (no pun intended) dies down about streetwear and different styles become trendy, then it will return to a more underground scene, think of old football hooligan style, burberry, adidas trainers and such, popular back in the day, now only those in the know pay attention to it, same will happen with streetwear
