I saw Rufus Thomas at Mud Island in Memphis in August 1987. It was part of the celebrations remembering Elvis on the 10th anniversary of his death. Rufus was brilliant and he tore the house down with this track. I was in Memphis on Boxing day 2014 and it was great to see the statue of him on Beale St. I thought of that wonderful day I enjoyed his great talent.

Thats Mr. David Sanborn, "the most influential saxophonist on pop, R&B, and crossover players of the past 20 years." Sunday Night, later named Michelob Presents Night Music, was a late-night television show which aired for two seasons between 1988 and 1990 as a showcase for jazz and eclectic musical artists. It was hosted by Jools Holland and David Sanborn. ~ Wikipedia

Rufus was the old young man singing that funky music that put a smile on your face and a strut in your feet oh man that funky beat was great 👍 those White boys played the shit out of that music everybody were grooving and getting along Racism was outside of music. Wow. DPitts
@TheClemcaster4 жыл бұрын
It really does need to be said out loud that at a time when the South ran its own racial segregation policies, Stax artists and staff were entirely integrated, with the house band being at least half white. Over in Alabama - the most segregated state according to Dr Martin Luther King - FAME studios were turning out timeless music with a white house band backing all those amazing black singers; my point? That indeed music was where people really could be free and forget their origins. Where values and principles were as high as they should be in everyday society TODAY, and not in another 50 years - or never as many white Americans would have it.
