Everyone deals with resistance. Many bands were banned from whole cities. Festivals were prevented from whole counties and sections of the country. Punk isn't allowed in most venues. Many live acts have been barred altogether from bars--because the music is too annoying and patrons would rather hear the 'jukebox'. Part of the appeal of Elvis--was the resistance. The shock and the religion--without that--his charm would be a fraction. Forbidden fruit is my point. Look at the music scene today? Nobody cares. Only a small group of legacy acts even make a living now with music.

* * disagree a bit * * * In these shows, whites did not "want" to be black, they were clearly comedians poking fun. Ever see a film called White Chicks with black kids doing a white face stereotype? Regarding Rufus' other comment about Elvis, I agree, he definitely DEsegregated music. However, I would not call what he did to be a straight Cut & Paste imitation of black music. You hear lots of gripes that he stole black music (as if no white person can sing a song after a black performer does it), like Eminem is doing today, BUT when Elvis burst on the scene, most his early hits were newly written by white song writers. In fact, Mama Thorton originally did Houndog, but we should point out it was written by a white songwriting duo. Of the few of the old black R&B songs Elvis recorded (after the original black artists had hits with it), he did it differently, he infused a white hillbilly / country influence on the music, and I believe Rock & Roll is it's own separate art form because of the white influence. Not saying some R&B or R&R songs are not interchangeable, but overall, Elvis music never sounded as ethnic or bluesy as the original, it was usually more energetic and polished.

My opinion, Elvis was used as a scapegoat for the record companies. When the record company only paid Mama Thornton $500. when the record sold over 500k. Let's blame Elvis. Or when Arthur Big boy Crudup's manager keeped his royalties from him (not only from Elvis's cover but BB King's, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, CCR, and others covered his songs. Look the other way, blame Elvis.

Elvis attempted many times to steal the rarest top talent Funk & Blues music samples from Rufus Thomas for his own selfish greed. Elvis is a sellout and thief.. his talent was fake and narrated for him. Thats why Elvis died fast at young age. Rufus Thomas lives forever eternal. Priceless Timeless he survive any crisis a true musical move maker with much more story to reveal

Black face was done out of degrading Black people. Not the same and a false equivelancy to the movie "White Chicks" that was created for satire. In addition to that, white people created the system of race and white supremacy. Black face was created during slavery to degrade he enslaved whites. White people, since 1492m, have NEVER been under a Global system of opression.

Country music was not white hillbilly music. All of that was stolen from black Americans

Socio-economics with land-acquisition is the Beauty, especially for all the dispossessed, and the discriminated-against Africans in the Americas, the Guianas and Europe. Color-Talk is as empty and comedic as the dog (bitch) whose bark is worse than its bite. And all the church-goers with one voice say, "Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Ah- men; thanks be to God!" Need much much more ACTION and less complaints with futile protests - while ALL other improverished groups withdraw from the groans and pains, only advancing to receive a part of the little-acquired spoils. Africanos, pay attention!
