Secondly I modified mine buy wrapping 100kg dyneema fishing line around the clasps. then put shrink plastic over that. If you are tech savvy cars have fused power circuits for ignition power, you can wire a switch on the fused power ignition wire and have it conveniently mounted somewhere in your glovebox or knee bolster anywhere easy to access and will keep the car from starting, you could also switch the ECM supply ground to be safer but it could cause a CEL and disrupt normal readiness monitor functions

This is quite clever marketing playing on the fact it "survived" Thatcham's 5 minutes of testing criteria - however Thatcham in their testing do not, by choice, cut the wheel in an effort to make it fairer. The Auto Express 2016 product testing also use this mentality so the Disklok does not win every time. In reality, the Disklok is the only device which will actually withstand ALL methods of attack for 5 minutes which makes it easily the best value vs deterrent on the market.
@FrakkingCreations7 жыл бұрын
Yes, there was a different steering wheel review that another viewer commented on that mentioned that it only took about a minute and a bit to get through the StopLock Pro. It depends what you are going for too. The Disklok is too cumbersome for me, though it does protect better. In any case, 5 minutes isn't that much either if the crook has more time than that to steal the car. These tools are just another layer that gives a crook more to do in stealing your car. Best to have alarm with GPS. Thanks for the comment and additional info though.

@@KyTaundry An Israeli friend of mine designed several counter measures. One is a steering wheel that has a core that is hollow steel tubing which can be filled with highly pressurized tear gas or pepper spray through a hidden connector. lf someone tries to cut through the steering wheel, the highly pressurized tear gas bursts in to the cabin with zero chance of the perpetrator not getting soaked. Another system he designed can add another layer of defense in that the pressurized tube has a pressure sensor installed on it and if the sensor detects that the pressure has been released (meaning someone is cutting through the steering wheel or through the steering wheel lock) it then activates a relay which is tied in to several conceiled taser devices installed in the vehicle which will deploy depending on which sensor pads are being tripped which indicate where the perpetrator is in the vehicle. The taser devices can even be installed inside of seats, headrests, below steering wheel, etc. and can be disguised as a sunglasses holder above the door sill. ln addition to those measures there is a separate detection device that can sense if any of the other anti-theft measures have been tripped at which point the device which carries its own power supply will activate several servos. One of those servos disconnects the alternator connection to the car and 2 other servos are set up to drop steel lockpins in to the axles so that they are completely locked in to place. The pins can then only be removed manually by dropping the axles and using a special removal tool. None of these countermeasures can been seen and you would have to know exactly where they are installed and that they are even there in the first place to even attempt to get around them.

Does this work well on all flat bottom steering wheels?
@FrakkingCreations6 жыл бұрын
The issue with fitment probably won't be with the flat bottom as you attach the lock to the 'spokes' of the steering wheel. Since the lock doesn't come in contact with the flat bottom i believe it should fit all flat bottom steering wheels as long as the lock fits the spokes. Unless the steering wheel is some unique/uncommon design

The Stoplock Pro did not leave marks on our steering wheel. We have used it on one made with leather and Alcantara/Dinamica and another with either grey leather or fake leather. The yellow arm is actually a soft foam like covering that covers the metal bar inside. Some of the black from the leather/Alcantara steering wheel did transfer from the steering wheel to the lock though. The clamp part of the lock and the yellow arm did press into the leather/Alcantara steering wheel, which cause a the material to be a little compressed. Nothing bad though. Hope that helps.

What if someone drills the lock 🔐
@FrakkingCreations2 ай бұрын
That's always a possibility like someone drilling the lock on the door of a house. This steering wheel lock has a different type of lock so the disks inside have to line up accordingly. If you drill into the disks they still won't line up so it won't open. I believe you will have to pick the lock.
@gb55842 ай бұрын

I'm saying that compared to typical locks that use pins, this one uses disks. You can drill the disks but if the disks aren't aligned correctly and you drill it, it still won't open. Unless there is a weak spot to drill that would cause it to open. I don't know of any.

Steering wheel locks are used to prevent the steering wheel from turning completely. This then prevents someone from driving away with your car if the criminal were to be able to jump start or hack your keyless car into starting up. Note though that the steering wheel is the weakest link in this and because of this most steering wheel locks can be removed within minutes. Depends on the steering wheel lock and vehicle you have. For some vehicles and lock combinations you won't be able to fit the lock backwards. Also, for most steering wheel locks they aren't defeated by drilling through the pins of the lock because there are weaker points to attack first, like cutting the steering wheel. Sometimes alarms don't work because people are too used to hearing them and don't bother to look and police sometimes take a long time to get there. Understand that the best you can do is to layer the security, like what you did, to hopefully get the crook to move on to the next target. Also consider getting a faraday bag and OBD lock too as there are other ways to steal your vehicle nowadays. @@FrakkingCreations Good information! The majority of car owners are oblivious to smart key and obd theft! My current car has the ability to turn off the smart key function, which I researched before buying it, and did so prior to leaving the forecourt! The idiots at the service dealership turned it back on at least once! Ohh, how inconvenient it must be to press a button to open the car, vs going into the touchscreen once the engine is started......😂 Stoplock pro elite is definitely a good deterrent 😊 Also, test your car alarm actually works!! I previously had a second hand car from a main dealership which didn't, amongst other issues!! Plus, LISTEN to the alarm! My current beauty has a double tone, alarm and horn, actually very rare, and extremely noticeable! It went off on my driveway once and the noise was unbearable, plus lights were VERY noticeable, lol... I checked the inside to find, and squash, a small moth!! It has an internal disarm plus probably different sensitivity levels in the main options screen. Far too boring to check however. Finally, be prepared to confront or forget. I favour the former.

Useless, My first tool as a vehicle thief is gonna be a battery operated cutoff wheel. See that pretty yellow tool there? That thing will last about 15 seconds, 30 tops. those things will cut anything to pieces even the steering wheel. Wheel locks, Brake locks you name it those abrasive wheels will cut fucken diamonds. As stated. Useless. the best thing is to purchase one as a deterrent. That way a guy like me will move on to another vehicle that has NO visible deterrent. You STILL need a hidden starter relay SPST to kill the starter as the primary stopper. Yeah a switch that is NOT located within the driver seat area. Why make it easy for a guy like me that loves to steal vehicles?
@FrakkingCreations Жыл бұрын
As you said, this is supposed to be used as a deterrent. So it isn't useless. Nothing can be made that is impervious to everything for a reasonable price. It all depends on what resources and knowledge the thief has including how much time on hand to do the theft. If this lock is useless, then you might as well remove all the door locks on the exterior doors of your home because they would be useless too. They are just as easy to pick or drill out with an electric drill without much time. I do agree that installing a kill switch would be a good idea but those can be located too. Best is to have multiple layers of security so that after a thief defeats each security layer, they are faced with more and more.

If you don't mind me asking... As a thief, what other methods are you using to steal vehicles? What vehicles would you avoid based on the security systems they use?
@littlegoobie8 жыл бұрын
5 minutes? No way. A cordless angle grinder with a cutting wheel could make 2 cuts to the wheel in 10- 15 seconds. Or for a no noise approach, a small pair of bolt cutters could cut a wheel in under 30 seconds including time for some struggling.

I was reporting on a test that was done by a security expert at a point in time. If someone else has actually broken into the Stoplock Pro recently in less time then please share the link to the article or video. I think we could all benefit from it.

littlegoobie no wheel lock can stop those methods...how many junkies and hobos are walking around with bolt cutters/cordless angle grinders? What is this gone in 60 seconds? If they want your car bad enough to bring those tools than they will get it...it just makes small time lock pick or hand saw thieves looking for a quick and easy score, look somewhere else...hmm do I have to deal with this car or look at the car next to it without a wheel lock?

@@FrakkingCreations it was a Stop Lock Pro £45 from Halfords ...doesn't matter what kind of this particular lock you use when they can simply cut through the steering wheel. Thanks for getting back. Very useful information. The keyless entry/start issue is another good one to get protection for. Some people also have a security camera at home pointing to the car so that if anything were to happen you have some footage of what happened, who and how.

@FrakkingCreations4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it can be scary when you have a new car. Don't use the active remote (pressing a button on remote to unlock/lock) as the criminals can use a code grabber to capture the code then use to unlock the car, etc. Get a good faraday/rfid pouch or box to put your keys in when you are at home or out. This will stop the relay attacks on passive keyless entry that I see a lot of videos on that take place in Europe. And even a good steering wheel lock is another layer to add to round things off. Make sure to put the StopLock Pro around a spoke and that it fits tight. Otherwise the lock can be removed easily. There are also gps tracker companies that have systems that use gps and radio frequencies to track a stolen car. They help recover in these scenarios. Lookup Automatrics MTrack on KZbin for more.

nonsense. You take out a relay when you park your car . They will NOT drive your car away.
@FrakkingCreations Жыл бұрын
That could work too. Though, not everyone will want to be removing and installing a relay all the time. Here are other ideas for those that don't want to be using relays: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4u1qoual752oK8

Starter relay. The problem with that though is that you'll eventually wear out the contacts inside the fuse panel that houses the relay.

That's true. Pretty much all security devices are defeatable with enough time, resources and will. Even though the locks on the doors of your house are easily defeatable using a drill to drill out the pins, you still lock your doors. It doesn't mean that everyone should stop using door locks, either. The aim is always to make it more difficult and add time to the process to hopefully deter someone from trying in the first place.

Yes. That is true. All wheel locks can eventually be removed. How long it takes depends on the lock type, tools used, how much time and how much noise the thief is willing to make. Frakking Creations thanks for the reply and the informative video, but i decided to go with the disklok...if I'ma go big I might as well get the best...sure it's big but I think the overall protection to both the steering wheel and airbag is worth it.
