Gared Steinke races f*cking dirtbikes... 2-Stroke dirt bikes to be exact. He is a cult figure in motocross and one of the most universally loved guys on two wheels. Surprising how many pro riders don't even ask for sponsors. I at times got more support as a local B rider than some pros that were trying to make nationals were. There's some well off people who sometimes just enjoy sponsoring riders.

I finally got my 04 yz125 back from the shop after 7 months. Its an 04 but ive kept the engine and suspension on point. I think its the funnest bike ive ever ridden, way funner then my 21' yz250fx and i also get more compliments on the 125.

The fact that people paid him just to ride a 125 should show the AMA how much people love two strokes. I personally think they should take the 250f class down to 125s, and then put the premier class on 250 2 stroke and 250fs. There’s zero reason to race 450s in Supercross, I can see racing them in outdoors, but you can’t even come close to using all of the power in the Supercross races. It’s like someone on one of the PulpMX episodes said last year when asked why injuries were so much worse now, they said “the 450s keep getting faster each year, but the stadiums aren’t getting any bigger.” They have a valid point, look at both of Roczen’s injuries, that wouldn’t have happened on a 125 or 250 two stroke probably. Sure you had the occasional serious injury on two strokes like Doug Henry, but they were a whole lot less common back then.

I think it's more of a case that factories aren't that interested in 2 strokes anymore... Supercross has arguably become the most global 'dirt bike' series out there at the moment. Manufacturers want to show off their latest tech to the world. Especially the Japanse, they're just not investing that much in 2 strokes. Also about the performance would be interesting to hear Carmichael, Reed, K-dub, Stewart, Todesco etc, their views on performance between 250 and 450 as they raced during that 'transition' period.

I feel like two strokes in supercross could cause more injuries on the modern tracks. Because you'd have instances of bikes bogging off lips or blowing up off a lip, plus they don't get as good of traction so you'd have guys sliding out off lips that are right out of corners. I think if they put everyone on two strokes we'd have more crashes. Sure 450's are pretty F'n fast for an indoor stadium, but that's what throttle control is for. The pros do also still manage to get those 450's wide open on multiple occasions on the SX tracks. To me supercross has never been more exciting watching these guys just absolutely rip scrubbing all the triples and seat bouncing quads out tight corners, it's just so sick. So I'm not complaining. I love two strokes too but I really don't get all the people that complain and hate on four strokes. four strokes have allowed the pro's to progress to a level we've never seen before. The technique of riders combined with the traction, stability, power delivery, and engine braking of modern four strokes have pushed the riding level to the moon as of late.

I love two strokes too but four strokes are cool too. who really cares if mx switched to all four strokes, they're definitely better for racing ever since they developed them specifically for that and because everyone rides 4 strokes allows stank dog to stick out and be who he is. if everyone rode two strokes there probably would be no stank dog. so settle down there bucko.
