@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. I really did not like Elvis music. Mainly because he stole the music from black people and took the credit for it. Black people had clubs and he would go in and steal their music. How ironic how he was allowed to come in black clubs but blacks could not go into white clubs. But only to perform. That is a little history for you. And as for you not liking the Queen of Soul voice. You are about the only one I have heard this from. But long live the Queen of Souls music.

Why doesn't her family have or own this home? She has several children. I'm sorry, I haven't kept up with any reports since her passing. Lovely home. Just wish something was explained without going into confidential details; about why this property isn't owned by her children or other family. Could it be one of her family members put it up for sale?? Just wondering..
@lkofie66703 жыл бұрын
Maybe the maintenance and upkeep is not what they prefer to spend their money and energy on. Also, thinking about it, even if they decided not to sale the home, you still need to pay the property taxes on it. Without a steady flow of income in the realm of what an established celebrity would make in general, who is going to be willing and able to pay those types of taxes? So upkeep entails both financial and physical maintenance of the property. At least with the profits gained from the sale, they can divide the proceeds.
@greeneyedwarlock8823 жыл бұрын
Aretha, because she was literally paranoid about lawyers, accountants or ANY kind of paid, legal/financial assistance, died intestate which mean she didn't have a will. She was known to not have great money "behavior" at all and had a LOT of houses over the decades and this is just one of them. I remember reading that at the time of her death, she was worth around 60 or 80 million. But since she had no will, her estate's been in court ALLLLL that time since and has most likely been seriously eaten up by lawyers, court costs and judgements. Who knows what it's worth now. It's incomprehensible to me that the world-famous Queen of Soul lived all her life with such paranoia and never got it together financially to protect herself and her sons. But that's the true story.

@@heartstrings7814 You're welcome and it was my pleasure. A bonus......Franklin was SO willfully ignorant and stubborn for her entire life about money & finances that she literally demanded that she be paid for all her gigs IN CASH. REPEAT, IN CASH!! She would almost always go on stage with her purse and WATCH LIKE A HAWK or have her #1 musician or back-up-singer buddy WATCH THAT THING AS IF THEIR LIVES DEPENDED ON IT since it held tens if not HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars if not more! NO joke! Can you imagine?!

@@greeneyedwarlock882 I believe everything you are stating. My father worked in the Industry back when I was a kid growing up in the 70's. I already knew about her demanding cash. I was told she was stiffed with bad checks or no pay at all back in the day due to how she was treated; being a woman and being a black woman. My Dad and her out of town Driver both told me this and much more. I don't believe all of her issues in how she being paid were of her own fault. Maybe money management later on in life. Clearly but not in those younger years when artist of color were taken full advantage of financially. I would have asked for Cash up front too way back then. I just didn't know about her homes. Hadn't kept up. My Dad and her former out of stated driver( he worked with many other artist who didn't fly) have both passed away so I didn't know any updates on her property.

@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. Elvis was dubbed the "King of Rock and Roll", Aretha Franklin was dubbed the "Queen of Soul"...I'm just saying the potential is there for Detroit the same way people tour the old Motown business or as it was originally called "Hitsville USA". Her music crossed and reached people of various backgrounds too. Even to this day, in movies and TV and in commercials her song "Respect" is played all the time. Other songs include "Rock Steady" "Chain a Fools", "Until You Come Back", "Baby I Love You" are also songs featured in movies besides the one that she acted in "The Blues Brothers" (lol)...yeah "Think" is another song that's heard enough times too. Ah well again, for the sake of Detroit, I'm just saying there could very well be some potential in it all things considered.
@lkofie66703 жыл бұрын
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. Yeah, perhaps...I get it. If her home were a museum, it possibly would be humored more by the locals/Michiganders, people passing through that's near the border of Michigan and music enthusiasts, particularly of soul music genre compared to the worldwide Elvis enthusiast and die hard fans. Ah well (lol)...I was trying to visualize and weigh the possibilities considering the bleak state of Detroit....like maybe it could've been one option to consider using towards revitalizing the city of Detroit. On a side note, considering you're a fan of the Supremes, I'm sure by now you've heard of the passing of Mary Wilson? 🙁. I don't think her cause of death has been disclosed yet, but well...she lived to be 76. My aunt idolized Diana Ross especially her post-Supreme era. She's my aunt's favorite singer to this day (lol).
@lkofie66703 жыл бұрын
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. LOL...no problem at all...I like to be enlightened with other perspectives. I'm not from Detroit nor lived there either, but I did my undergraduate studies in Michigan in the late '90's and I tell you, while driving through Detroit with fellow students that were from Detroit (or suburbs of Detroit), I was shocked by what I saw...it seemed abandoned and neglected even then. Fast forward to today, the demise is unimaginable/seems practically hopeless especially for a once bustling city of car factory jobs AND music. As for my aunt, truth be told, I think my aunt was very drawn to Diana Ross more so for her glamorous image and appeal throughout the 80's. Same way she loved everything about the glamorous character Alexis Colby on the show "Dynasty"...named her first daughter/my cousin after her...not kidding, lol. But sure, I won't say anything about anybody NOT liking Diana (yes, nee' Diane)...your secret is safe with me, lol 😁.
