You have no idea what an impact this song had when it came out in the 60s. For a woman, especially a Black woman to stand up and demand respect was a seismic shift.

"Respect" is a song written and originally recorded by American soul singer Otis Redding. It was released in 1965 as a single from his third album Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul and became a crossover hit for Redding. In 1967, fellow soul singer Aretha Franklin covered and rearranged "Respect", resulting in a bigger hit and her signature song. It has often been considered one of the best R&B songs of its era, earning Franklin two Grammy Awards in 1968 for "Best Rhythm & Blues Recording" and "Best Rhythm & Blues Solo Vocal Performance, Female", and being inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1987.

"Aint No Way". Her best song. Part Two Week of Aretha Franklin must include this song. Jennifer Hudson sings a fabulous version. Its a song that brings you closer to Love even with sorrow. Oh by the way she replaced Pravoretti in a concert with a few hours notice. She sang it in his key too. Look it up on youtube. She was majestic .

One of Aretha's best live performances is her 1976 live performance of "Giving Him Something He Can Feel" on the Tonight Show, available on KZbin at kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJauZZKJbtdmr9k

To see Aretha revisit her Gospel roots, I recommend her 1972 live performance of "Mary Don't You Weep" at New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles: kzbin.info/www/bejne/imKmZWacoM97aLs

They don't look at requests here. They make a weekly suggestions reaction video where you put a list of five songs you want them to react to. The list gets voted on and the highest voted top four lists get on a poll on their Sat live and voted on again

From the '60s, you should react to Aretha Franklin - Live at Concertgebouw Amsterdam 1968 - Dr. Feelgood: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5WlfGiGgctki6s In this live performance, she accompanies herself on piano.

Horrible No. 1 for Aretha. Ain't No Way (with Cissy Houston doing background vocals) and any of her gospel songs would be 100 times better than this performance. Make no mistake, Aretha still sounds good, but this version is not as good as the OG.

My first thought was Ain't no way was No. 1. But Respect has its merits. A classic song with significant meaning to black women in the 1960/70's. "Suck it to me" 🫶🫣😉

Plus they've heard all these songs already except one. I think most people who don't even know Aretha much know these songs. I like when they react to something they've never heard or seen. They said they didn't know young Aretha when they saw the #5 video so anyone requesting Aretha next time should choose from her earlier days.

@@Jasmine-iw3wi They heard most of the songs they react the two. This this is MY personal list and My favorite Aretha songs and that's why they are MY top 5. As I said before if somebody summit there top 5 fav Aretha songs i will be voting for it.🤎😊

@@ShareeLove3 I wouldn't have said I like when they react to songs they've never heard if I didn't see it that much. I wouldn't even bother to subscribe to a channel of people reacting to mostky songs they've already heard. I've seen a lot of their videos and there are many songs they haven't heard before esp if it's r&b and European artists Im aware it's your list of favorites which I'm not stating you shouldn't have done but I can still make an observation and what I like to see. That doesn't mean anyone has to abide by it.🙂
