La pizza es italiana, pero los inmigrantes italianos en Argentina hicieron que la pizza tradicional Argentina fuera con una masa más gruesa y con mucho más queso. Eso también hace qué la gente prefiera comer las pizzas Argentinas con tenedor y cuchillo para no mancharse.

Y no sólo eso, por redes sociales promueven la inmigración internacional para quienes quieran venir a trabajar y formar una familia. Es casi como una oleada inmigratoria igual a la que hubo por aquellas épocas donde en Europa había guerras y escapaban hacia Argentina. ¡Un fuerte abrazo!

In Argentina we have two types of pizza. The one at Guerrin is called "de molde" (in cast) because is made in pans in the oven with a soft but crunchy dough and the cheese covering all the surface. The other type is called "a la piedra" (in the stone) because is cooked puting a much thinner dough directly on the floor of the pizza oven. This second type is much similar to the traditional italian pizza but with much more cheese and ingredients. The pizza a la piedra can be found in "Los Inmortales" and "La Continental", for example and always is served by complete pizzas. Instead pizza de molde can be bought by portions at Guerrín or Kentucky, for example. Fugazza, fugazzetta and fugazzetta rellena (filled) are argentine inventions. Fugazza is a pizza with no cheese with only onions. Fugazzetta is a mozzarella pizza with onions. And finally fugazzeta rellena is like a pizza with ham and cheese covered with a thin layer of dough like a pie but then covered with the onions. There are few desserts better than flan con dulce de leche (milk jam). Some places you may ask also whipped cream added to the plate. Another traditional desserts in Argentina is queso y dulce (cheese and sweet). The cheese is some half cured soft cheese and the sweet is one of two: sweet potato sweet (sorry but is the sweet made out of sweet potato=Batata in Spanish) or quince (membrillo in Spanish). And you should try "panqueques de dulce de leche" (pancake with milk jam).

Y porque acá había ingredientes en abundancia, jaja. Pensar que la pizza original era la masa finita y la salsa de tomate condimentada (era 1 por persona, bueno, la napolitana original allá se sigue sirviendo así, bien finita, 1 por persona, sino te quedas con hambre). El queso vino después... Imaginate cuando llegaron a Argentina, qué no encontraron los Tanos para ponerle encima! 😁 Lo mismo pasó con la milanesa. Encontraron la mejor carne del mundo y el mejor trigo del pan o harina. Y ni hablar los inventos que vinieron encima de eso.

Some unique pizzas in Argentina too are the “palmitos con salsa golf” (hearts of palm with pink sauce), “Calabresa” (uses Calabrian sausage instead of pepperoni), Primavera (with shredded boiled eggs), and the perennial crowd favorite “Jamón y morrones” (ham and roasted red peppers). It’s also somewhat traditional to accompany a pizza with “fainá” (a chickpea bread) if you think you’d still be hungry… some people stack the pizza slice over a fainá slice… a bit much for my taste 😂

I have something with guerrin and it is what we call "Pizza de molde" baked on an aluminum mold. My favourite pizza is "A la piedra" straight on the stone oven floor. A good traditional one that does great pizza a la piedra would be "La Guitarrita". As per recomendations of restaurants in the City of BA, one of my favourite places is called "Punto Amarradero" in the barrio of Nuñez/Belgrano by the river. its a restaurant inside the centre for graduates of the naval military school. It has a great menu and you can take a stroll around the marina before or after your meal, very cute chill place to go for lunch or dinner.

I'm happy you are enjoying Guerrin. Now you are reeaching a true porteño style. You have two other great pizzerias nearby. BANCHERO and the other LAS CUARTETAS. If you want a great dessert you should be heading to the best pancake house. It's called LO DE CARLITOS. There are many across the city, there´s one in Palermo, but I go to the one located in San Telmo half block of the Mafalda statue (a tribute to the most world known argentine comic) In LO DE CARLITOS you have deliciuos salted packakes as long as sweet ones. My favorite is the one with dulce de leche, cream, fresh strawberries and covered with home made chocolate sauce. Bear in mind they have more than 600 pancakes so you need to spend checking their menu for 20 minutes. Let me know how it goes. Cheers!

@@Economic_Front Yeah, the "carne picante" ones are excellent, they actually got popular not that long ago, since spicy food is not common at all in Argentina, but I guess the huge influx of immigration has changed the local taste a bit. I love having options to eat different cuisines when I visit now, some years ago the options were Italian/Spanish or... Italian/Spanish and that was it😂. Anyway, have a great week!

Guerrin is one of the emblematic pizzerias downtown, with good pizza, but any neighborhood pizzeria offers a standard of quality in taste, similar to Guerrin and other traditional, no need to pay more here, any neighborhood pizzeria is good too, The key to good pizza is the dough and mozzarella cheese.

Try Los Inmortales in Paraná 1209, Recoleta. I loved the ham, mozzarella cheese and pineapple pizza there. It's across from a lovely square where your kids can play. I haven't been there since before covid 19, so give them a call, just in case😅🎉

Ohh pizza de Guerrin es maravillosa. Un consejo, si quieres que los niños vayan a kindergarden el año proxima, te recomiendo empieces a visistar escuelas ahora en agosto, ya que pueden quedar sin lugar, hazlo con tiempo. Tambien algun dia pueden ir a un parque de entretenimiento que se llama Tierra Santa, al lado del aeroparque Newbery. Saludos

True pizza here is one of the best in the world. The quality of ingredientes is what It makes It special. Love New York Style also, You can find some pizzerías that Will make some in BA. Next time order flan mixto, its with both dulce de leche and whipped creme. 🔥
