Like there are certain cars that are objectively worse if you measure the car on a horsepower per dollar scale. That's not a terribly relevant scale for most people though. Also usually the "best" pizza shop in any given city doesn't necessarily represent the breadth and width of what's actually available for that style of pizza even if it's the most talked about. Sure it's one way to do it. There's a lot more generally though, and limiting it to that is necessary to scope the video appropriately, but doesn't make for a good real comparison with any meaning. Top 5 at least would probably be needed to get some variation and see kind of what's available in that style. I get the need to limit it for time, it just feels... clickbaity? He is the nicest man ever and I love his family's story, I am so glad you got to meet them both. When Scott took us to Lindustri he ordered us a Burrata pizza and it was the best thing ever. He showed me the inside and knew everyone very well. What amazed me about Lindustri was the air tight room that they use to keep the dough the right temperature while making it. In the end he took us to a Nutella pizza place which i told myself i was too full but ended up eating 3 slices and Scott let me take over for a bit to make the pizzas. Overall a 10/10 experience would try again, and I am glad you got to experience as well. Keep up the amazing work.

PEQUODS. My favorite Chicago pizza. And it’s what I think is proper deep dish, not the upside down cheese casserole that everyone gets up in arms about. The cheese and topping are above the sauce, where they belong, and they’re cooked in a deep dish pan that’s been seasoned for decades with the best caramelized cheese crust out there. (Admittedly, it might be close to Detroit style) That said, NY pizza is the shit, I’d probably go for that if i had both options readily available.

Don't do culinary school. Don't know where you're at in life or how old you are, but culinary wages don't offset the cost. You're starting off with debt you don't need. You'll learn a lot just entering the work force if you're intentional about the restaurants you're applying at and know which cuisines you want to learn first. Back of house is so volatile and pay is so poor to average that you'll move up quickly if you stay the course. If someone else is footing the bill and you don't have to pay it back, good for you -- go ahead. But I used to work as a cook and am constantly surrounded by culinary professionals who regret schooling and struggle to pay it back on a cook's wages.

It seems like people can do quite well getting into internships and that kind of thing through culinary school if they knuckle down. From what I understand, many high end restaurants and patissere won't even consider someone without professional culinary training too. Fair point about the debt load, that is significant and something to be weighed up. Seems like best of both worlds might be a bit of both, part time study and working in a kitchen alongside that. Whether that is viable I have no idea
@TheShelbinator30008 ай бұрын
@@micah1754 In the kitchen world, cooking school is seen as a path rich kids take, or those hoping to hop the line. Some misguided souls think they can get hired as chefs upon graduation. The skills translate, but none of the cadence or culture of the job does. You still start at the bottom of the bottom, as a prep or line cook at an inconsequential station, making pennies paying off debt. Even worse for you if you're subsidized by your parents once you're in the work force. What I'm telling them is that they can get straight to cooking without all of that debt. 6mos at a good restaurant, starting with prep work. Then go work at a great one. Or a a world class one.

But after a series of inconveniences, we found ourselves back near Sally's, and had to ask ourselves the question "will we be more sad to have never tried BAR, or more sad to never have Sally's again?" We ended up going back to Sally's, but I have to say, I do sort of feel like that was a missed opportunity. I LOVE this. Two of my co-workers and I experimented with each Pizza joint around our work place for over a year. We had the same criteria, pepperoni, sauce, and cheese. We found 'the best' and eat there all the time. Great video Josh! Anybody need to know the best place to get Pizza in Greensboro, NC, hit me up.

As somebody who lives an hour from Greensboro, Sticks and Stones on Walker Ave is my go-to pizza spot when I'm in town. Last time I met my friends there, I had the "Mockingbirdsing," and they ordered the "Let It Ride." Both pies sound weird on paper with their toppings, but they blew us away. Highly recommended if you haven't checked them out yet!

Not going to New Haven this time around was kinda disappointing, but that just means there is potential to see New Haven pizza represented in a future video. All good more content :)

I got your "An Unapologetic Cookbook" for Christmas. I made the pesto gnocci today, absolutely loved it, can't wait to try out more recipes, thank you!

Buddy’s used to really be one of the best in Michigan but most natives will tell you it just hasn’t been the same since the pandemic. Not exactly sure what happened but next time you’re in town check out Michigan & Trumbull Pizza. It’s the best “Detroit Style” around now.

I love Josh's videos, but everything I've learned about him has taught me that his salt tolerance is a little higher than most of us. I believe this is why he's constantly wanting a saltier crust, and calling most fast food bland.

"I tried the best pizzas in NYC and half assed Detroit and Chicago" should be the title of this Weiner festival

FR. I'm tired of people sucking off NYC pizza like it's the greatest food ever created. It's good, but to me, comparing different pizza styles is like comparing apples to oranges. They all have their own redeeming qualities.

You guys are dickheads. I’m from queens and grew up on it, but imma say this objectively: NYC pizza is the best pizza in the country. Every other city is so much fucking worse with a few exceptions(Long Island, New Haven, New Jersey). U don’t know what pizza is until you’ve had two bros on 8th Ave & w 38th st. TRUST.🗽

He saved scores 8-100 for italian made pizza. I know some think Bonci's pizzarium in Rome is overrated but the mix of textures and innovation is on a different level for me. Would be fun to see Josh take a bite and faint.

Im really glad Scott was on this episode, love him. Was super happy to see Lucali here too, despite your low rating of it.

I lived in The Bronx for most of my life and was spoiled by how much good pizza there was. With that said my favorite Manhattan pizzeria is easily Bleeker Street Pizza. Best slice joint in NYC.

Shoutout to Bleecker Street pizza. The best classic NYC slice and my go to for 15 years! Also, my favorite spot for Italian food in NYC has to be Bronx!
