Amazing how you travelled with only that bag. I backpacked in Salta, Jujuy and Tucumán for 3 weeks in summer and my 30lt bag was packed to the brim and I'm a local here! Very well done! Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷❤️

I've been doing it awhile so lots of practice =) You have a beautiful country, I only had a chance to visit the northwest Salta area, Iguazu, and CABA. Can't wait to come back and explore more in the south, I hear Patagonia is amazing.

Good review. I am still amazed on 28 l. I just cannot do it. Some lessons from my last trip….I used your laundry soap recommendation. Worked great, I did socks and underwear in the sink, but agree the dry bag method will work better. I brought a compact pair of binoculars, but found it was heavy after a day. I also used the Larq water bottle as it was self cleaning. Worked great and keep water cold over 24 hours. with ice still whole. Had to laugh at the flip flops, I think it would have been better if you included a clip of you wearing.them 😁. There is a really cool new travel adapter out that includes usb portals. Have not tried yet but would save allot of room. Sorry cannot remember the name but made in California. I believe Amazon sells now. I had to check a bag at LA airport so I used apple air tags. Worked great. I am off to Mexico in a month, I will check a medium size suitcase as I am bringing snorkelling gear. My focus will be on a carry on bag. I am thinking your 20 l cabin zero recommendation would be great with some sort of pocket system added. My current carry on bag is good but a little to small. Might might for good idea for future videos? Cheers Vancouver island.

Sink works fine for small things like underwear, I had a harder time with larger items like pants. They don't fit well in tiny sinks and it's harder to get the agitation needed to get them clean without making a mess. Larq bottle looks nice, with they had more info on what it filters, they don't mention the micron level of the filter, seems like it's more for contaminants and taste rather than bacteria etc. I took some clips of me wearing the sandals but didn't put them in the video. They look completely ridiculous but actually worked well for showers. I was worried about them slipping on ceramic floors, but they have anti-slip pads on the bottom that work well. Not sure how long they will last though. Oh, I didn't include my Tile tag thing. I had one, I guess it worked, but nobody stole my bag so I didn't get to test it in real life 🤣 Have fun in Mexico!

I'll have to give in and try the laundry bag method instead of the sink stopper. That travel adaptor looks interesting. I use a Kikkerland Universal Travel Adapter which is super compact but isn't the most secure so I end up using it with an anker travel power strip to get the weight off the adaptor for my chargers which ends up being bulky anyways. I also use a pair of samsung earbuds that work decently well as earplugs. I just wear a buff like a headband to hold them in if I plan on sleeping so there's no chance of them falling out while sleeping. One tip with the leukotape so you don't have to lug around a whole roll is to pre cut some strips and stick them to wax paper or the paper for stamps.

On the topic of blister control, I use a regular pair of ankle or no show socks on normal days (though I do prefer smartwool) but when I know a day or trip will have a lot of walking miles I'll use the sock setup that I use when backpacking. I wear a pair of injinji merino wool toe socks as a sock liner then wear a pair of darn tough socks over them. The snug fit of the toe socks and it being merino wool really helps control any rubbing or wet spots while the outer stronger sock takes all the abrasion wear. After switching to this setup I still haven't had a single blister even with 10-20+ mile days (knock on wood).

Sink stopper works well if you have a good sink, but it can be frustrating and ineffective if you don't. Like a tiny sink with a rounded bottom doesn't work great from my experience. Good call on the wax paper for the Leukotape, I just unrolled about 12" of it and rolled it on itself and it turned into a sticky mess. I like your blister prevention method. I do sometimes do that backpacking, but I don't think about doubling up socks when traveling. Most trips I don't get blisters or need them, but I tend to do a lot more walking on the road, especially in big cities. I'll check those out, thanks.

Green with envy! Sounds like a fab trip and you nailed your setup, which must make life so much more pleasant and easier on the road. If I could stop packing at the last minute that would certainly help me…Curious if you’ll be taking a look at the new Evergoods CTB 26….In the meantime, safe travels. I always learn so much from your jaunts.

Thanks! Doing packing videos definitely helps me nail my setup too, I just went to Green Bay last week and just threw a pack together in 20 minutes. Should have done a video on that one but I didn't have time. I haven't tried out the CTB26, I love their gear though, and if I could afford it I would buy all their packs 🤣
@seechangenyc280
@seechangenyc280 2 жыл бұрын
@@OneBagTravels Yeah, the EG CTB26 is pretty pricey. Would have loved to hear your take. I, too, have a thing for their aesthetics. I thought this new Carryology collab bag would be the one for travel and a good size for my short frame (5’6 and 17”). But I think it’s going to do what the rest of their packs do which is dig into my back, so I am going to abstain - unless I grow taller. Will finally give my GR2 26L (18” tall) a whirl. If you come across a sleek bag you think might suit me, holler. Enjoy your travels. P.S Argentina sounds so much more exotic than Green Bay…

I love your reviews! You've got yourself a sub. I'm torn between the Thule Aion 28L and the Osprey Daylite 26+6L. I'm on the short and lean side. Which would you recommend more?
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
I think they're both great bags, similar sized, have a lot of the same features, expandable. I prefer the Aion more mostly because of the asthetic and the fabric. I just really like the look of the pack, especially the waxed canvas, and I think it's more durable than the Daylite.

@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
Good question. I'd say they are close, Peak Design looks a little bigger and I'd guess it can hold more than the Thule Aion, but not by much. I didn't realize Peak Design had so many stores in Europe but I just looked at their retailer map and wow!

Great follow-up! Since the Aion is above the Flybondi limit at 47cm, I’m guessing it was fine because they didn’t make you stick it in a sizer?
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 2 жыл бұрын
I was a little worried about the Flybondi flight. I fit my bag in a 45x35x20 sizer at the airport (forgot the airline, Jetsmart maybe). But it was too tall to fit in the Flybondi sizer. I just hid the bag on my back and crossed my fingers and they didn't say anything. I MAY have gotten it to fit if I put on more clothes from my bag, but I was coming from Iguazu and it was hot so I wanted to avoid wearing my jacket 🤣 But yes, a stricter airline I might not have gotten away with this.

Also, how do you rate the durability of the Thule aion waxed canvas? I see some marks and scratches in the video - did it bother you?
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 2 жыл бұрын
I think that's a feature of waxed canvas rather than a detriment. The fabric gets dinged up and develops character and looks more "aged" over time. I have a waxed canvas jacket too and think it looks great. It's extremely durable though, the scratches are on the surface and are unavoidable with this type of fabric.

Seems like this bags dimensions are just a bit bigger than what Spirit allows. I’m assuming if not fully packed this bag would still fit in their measuring box?

Hi, How is your opinion on comfortability? I've read some comments people complaining about harness system when fully packed. "made the bag feel heavy to carry", "the backpack feels like some box strapped to my back. What's your experience?
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
I guess that depends on what you're comparing it to. It's not the most comfortable bag I've ever worn, but better than a lot of bags I've tried. The shoulder straps are actually quite wide and it has good back padding. Worked well for what I used it for, but I also didn't have a ton of weight or a laptop. I think if it's being compared to something like the Farpoint 40, or another similar hiking/backpacking style backpack, then it has a relatively simple carry system by comparison. But compared to other minimalist sub 30L packs, it's pretty decent.

This backpack is accepted like personal bag in international airplane? (with a small trolley)
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
Really depends on your airline and ticket. The international flights I took weren't personal item only, and this was my only bag, so technically it could have counted as my carry-on instead of personal item. I did take several budget in-country flights where this would have been slightly too large as a personal item, but they didn't check. Probably you could get away with this as a personal item on most flights, but if the dimensions are smaller, and they decide to test it in the sizer, it may not fit.

How do you deal with the no false bottom for the laptop?
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 11 ай бұрын
The laptop sleeve has several layers of fabric and seams on the bottom so it's not completely unprotected, but your laptop still rests on the bottom of the pack so if you set it down hard it could damage it. Option 1 would be to just be careful setting the bag down, as long as you don't drop the bag or set it down hard I see no reason why your laptop would be damaged. Option 2 would be to stick something in the bottom of the laptop sleeve, really anything to keep it off the bottom like a pair of socks or a travel towel would work fine.

Yeah, I had never done that before. My friends who had been there told me to bring cash, but those exchange places can be sketchy and you don't get as good of a rate. I'd still bring some cash because WU will run out of money in the smaller towns. I only exchanged once in a store and got like 50 pesos/dollar less. However WU does charge a fee, I still think it's a better deal.
