Enjoyed the video Shane, really thought that you would have only gotten 2 or 3 pieces. I am surprised that you found that much. I sometimes buy those gift shop bags just to have fun with my grandkids. They enjoy finding the treasures. I kinda like the fact that they make it bigger to see as my grandkids sometimes have trouble seeing the gold and I of course go behind them and find what they missed. Thanks for the video. As soon as I saw the shape/flatness of the gold as well as the 'play sand' style concentrates, it definitely seemed geared towards letting kids (or even just tourists who have never panned before) feel like they're getting the prospecting experience while make it as easy as possible. As a souvenir, I totally get why it's like that. Maybe that could consider having an 'authentic' style bag as well as this more tourist-friendly variant.

I also load mine. I use a small rock crusher. It makes your gold really flat. And yes crushed quarts looks like really white play sand.

Stayed in Idaho springs first week of August. Panned at the Phoenix mine but stayed across from Argo. Love that area all the way west down through Leadville. Cant ever get enough of those Rockies 👍also random question, have you ever worked with manzanita for guitar necks?

The Argo gold mine is a hard rock (Load) mine and mill. The gold would be flattened by the mill. But I would agree the product was play sand and not millings with the gold added. Good review Shane.

The gold was definitely hammered, when I saw the first gemstone I instantly knew it was a banded agate. I see them in WA. at the ocean beaches quite often. You're correct in saying that it's not a true panning experience, excellent video.

Flat gold. Could be from a stamp mill which pounds the ore. Other possibility is that from the lode, this gold was smashed flat by rocks to that shape as it is relatively soft.

@@Klesh there's next to no information on anything in this particular area. Most areas here it goes soft soil, thick sticky clay, rich orange sand/silt, mixed gravels then more clay.... I'm struggling to gain much information

Just did a bag of El Dorado from Alaska. Don;t bother. 2 dollars of gold out of a bag that cost 35. It is the worst paydirt I have seen and I feel like a dumbass. Why I strayed from your paydirt I dont know. Every bag of yours I have gotten has had more than your stated amount. I even found gold in the Gem and mineral bag that has no gold guarantee.
