Having smelled both the edp and extrait version, I'll let you know that they're basically 100% the same - the differences are very minimal, so where the edp might be "35% apple, 40% peach, 10% saffron and 15% rum" then the extrait wukk be the exact same except a few percentages being shifted. It's all the same notes, but the balance is slightly more shifted towards peach and rum with a stronger vanilla backing than the edp. The extrait is extremely strong and will last 24+ hours - Strong projection for the first 4-8 hours, and then still radiating within an arms length after that. I would've liked a bit more of a smoky or rough tobacco similar to tabac nomade by houbigant, to offset the sweetness, but that's just me.
@SeldomlyOften
@SeldomlyOften Ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the Dailed answer. I don't really get much tobacco from this, everything is buried under this massive sweet opening.
@Exmorted
@Exmorted Ай бұрын
@@SeldomlyOften The tobacco in the extrait isn't that much more prominent in terms of balance, it is still this sweet tobacco, almost candy-like tobacco, so it doesn't really have anything to contrast because both the vanilla and the tobacco is sweet. if you smell it and I tell you "this is tobacco", then you'd be able to pick it out and be like "okay", but if you were to think 'tobacco', then the smell you get in Triumph of Bacchus isn't really what you'd expect since the sweetness is kind of seeping into every aspect of the fragrance.

@@SeldomlyOften A good one I can recommend, is the one I mentioned before; Houbigant - Tabac Nomade. My favourite thing about that one is that it combines vanilla and tobacco, but the tobacco is dark and similar to smoked tobacco, and then the vanilla just helps it not get offensive, without being a sweet major note.

On the cap is the Eye of Horus (the Wajet eye) symbolising Horus and Osiris, protection, healing and The Falcon. In 20thC syncretic occultism parallels between various Egyptian deities and ancient Roman+Greek deities are often drawn- there is mixed invocation of deities, usually to channel and multiply the energy of both deities. Of course I can't speak to this house's intention as they may just have chosen "cool" occult symbols without an understanding or intent in the invocation thereof

@@Principemostprincipe you know I think the same way 😂 That being said, playing devil’s advocate, not everything has to be super complex and artistic, not everyone is looking for intention and meaning. And that’s ok. What bugs me is that the house comes across as pretentious.

@ for the retail price paying like what, 280€ per 100 ml. Should be way more unique, i own lots of simple fragrances, what bothers me is a complete uncreativity

@@SeldomlyOften there is a fragrance called wild temptation - nightology. More refined version of triumph of baccus, can be easily bought on discounters for 100€. Way better blended than triumph of baccus.
