Granted, I think the rematch will be much better, but Chael fails to articulate why. Chael also says shame on Ariel for talking about money? This whole conversation is about money. Chael is full of it. And he also says the Masvidal Leon fight didn’t happen because of bad behavior and bad behavior like Jones’s needs to be disincentived? This is such BS. I understand why the UFC doesn’t like that behavior, but Chael is supposed to be objective. All Jones originally said was “show me the money,” and Dana went and made it contentious. Jon is just doing his best to get the right number, and while you can argue his tactics might backfire, Chael speaks like a man doing Dana’s bidding. Only thing Ariel is wrong about is that this fight probably isn’t at the level he’s suggesting, but I think to get the full picture we have to look at various Jones and Ngannou PPVs.

Sonnen a man who changed the sport and paved the way for so many and continues to be a great source of insight into the sports of mma and wrestling. Of course these both men make mistakes as we all do as human beings. Chael is making no sense here. Jon Jones vs Francis would do double the boys than Francis vs Lewis. You can look at Jones ppv sales and easily predict 900k-1 million PPV buys. Then Chael dismisses it, says that's like playing checkers instead of chess, because that's a one night bump in sales. Also incorrect. If Francis goes out and ko's Jon Jones, he's a star. He gains tremendous name recognition, and his future PPV's sell better. Regardless of the outcome, it would generate tremendous interest in the HW division if you throw Jones in the mix. Conor made around $50M for the fight against Khabib and $20-25M for fighting Poirier after total compensation. Over $10M for a fight that will easily sell a million PPV's and thus will generate over $100M in total revenue after PPV sales, live gate, merchandising, and other licensing agreements is completely reasonable. And the only reason Jones isn't a huge draw is because everyone knows he will win his fights. He's the underdog against Ngannou so that obviously isn't the case here
