While my friends used the perfect day for breaking personal records I go and do competition task flying. I still don't have the 100km mark but I'm learning so much more from flying tasks where you have to problem solve instead of just flying a well known line.

Agreed. The content is just a rehashed version of what Gavin has already said. Same with the Karlis videos.

Great stuff, keep them going. So true about getting kicked out of the nest and learn about it on your own attitude from schools.

Second time I hear this 10.000h "reference"...an average "B" paraglider can, probably, get up to 100h-150h/year...make your math! I understand that you're talking about Advanced Paragliders. But, seriously, how many pilots get to that amount of hours (in a life time?)

Maybe that means that person never need fly a higher glider than a "B"? And maybe thats fine?

It does you hang out with other pilots with more experience and you apprentice with them. If you are flying by yourself you picked wrong sport.

Hello, I was a paraglider pilot in the 90's, reserve parachute weren't a thing , and after a big collapse with 3 line twist and no reserve I spent 20 seconds wondering in spiral dive, if I was going to hit the bush or the rocks just next to them.....I was very high and lucky this day, and the line twist slowly disapeared and I could take control back of the wing.......A friend watching me from ground told me :" I've got an old reserve parachute from a two seater hang glider , I can lend you if you want...." I never flew without a reserve since. Many years later I became a glider pilot and reserve parachute is mandatory in France with a repack every year.... Today I am a skydiver with reserve repack every year ( 6 month in the usa ....I know we are always 20 years behind the usa) . A reserve without regular repack will open no doubt, but maybe slowly.....when seconds matters to throw it, seconds matters for it to deploy ......Please don't be cheap with your life!!!!!

Don't do what I do video 😅.. IMHO if you're a cowboy that scraped through by luck of the draw, you're unqualified for this topic. Love the content, just my opinion!

Thanks Ari and Gav!! Pre and Post schooling I have had brilliant mentorship from my small island local club pilots! Totally invaluable and totally appreciated! Essential in my opinion!

I enjoy your content and I enjoy your attitude towards this sport. As someone who is new to paragliding but not new to aviation having been a professional helicopter pilot since 1981 flying all different types of helicopters and jobs and having had more than my fair share of emergency situations, I'm really happy to see videos like this pushing safety and progression. Thanks for this.

I love what you say about flying on good days and not to fly on dangerous wind days is one of the keys to being safe and enjoying yourself.

I just turned 40, got kids, and I want to take lessons and learn. Sometimes I’m debating my sanity in my head and seems as though many people I know would look at me the same. I definitely don’t have any crazy wish to tempt my fate via an ego. So I’m hoping that the more I hear positive things and watch good videos on safety will help guide me through this experience.

similar situation here. I'm about to turn 34 and have a fiance and 1-yo son. I feel like I would be really safe and already have plenty of other dangers in my life. Most flights I watch are so pleasant and peaceful and I want to experience that so bad. We aren't married yet so this might be the last trial of seeking forgiveness instead of permission ha
