I know a few years ago there was some bs with coaching in CSGO because coaches were almost literally sitting behind their players telling them when and where to take shots. Coaching should be banned for sure.

So CSGO was a weird situation with coaching. Since the dawn of time there was always a player who was the IGL (in-game leader) whose job it was to make calls for rotations, specific plays/fakes etc. However, the best IGLs were generally not also the best pro players in terms of just raw skill - they were still pro level but most of the time they would have the worst performance on the team. This was OK because the benefit a good IGL brought to a team outweighed losing a few frags or w/e (the skill gap was pretty small but it was there nonetheless). The problem was that a few smart teams realized that the coaching rules could basically allow them to shift all of the calls that the IGL would normally make to their coach so they could play a 5th top tier skill level player without losing the tactical advantages that a good IGL gave them. Once a couple of teams started to have success with this setup almost every top team started benching their IGL and just bringing their 5 top skill players - with even some veteran IGLs literally being kicked off teams in favor of a coach who'd make all of the calls and another higher skill player replacing them in game. After a few big tournaments where IGLs were basically extinct the coaching rules were changed so that coaches could not coach during rounds - this was to keep all of the in-round tactical decisions/calls on the actual players themselves. Once this rule change went into effect IGLs were quickly included back on the roster and the "5 top skill players with no IGL" setup basically vanished overnight. The rule change for CS:GO made sense because coaching is still important for teams - you can call pauses and you can get coached in between rounds, maps, or even side switches. Now it just prevents coaches who don't actually play the game from pulling double-duty and calling all of the tactical decisions for in-game players - something that was never intended.
