Super useful. "Make sure your configuration is correct" - most games... actually all games, they don't offer an explanation this in-depth and easy to understand regarding how to verify and what "correct" should look or feel like. You just did for ACC, so thank you. There's usually a default, which may be based on a G29, maybe on SC2 Ultimate, nobody knows. And there's a million sliders with maybe a short technical sentence for each if you're lucky, like in Forza. But it doesn't tell you what "correct" should look or feel like on gear/belt/DD wheels. So people end up with wild parameters sourced from their asses based on whatever their IRL 50km/h daily driver is, if they even have one.

Following the setup method you laid out here, I ended up with wildly different values than I started with, and it feels better than it ever has. Plus since it isn't clipping anymore, my ffb doesn't fade after 5 laps. Great explanation of the how and why of the settings!

Thanks again!! Great to hear about the fact that you decided “to disappoint everyone” 😂 and let the physics acting on the wheel / suspension geometry be what we feel. It’s super informative (more so) now to know I’m not getting a game’s version of “there will be rear wheel slip so I will shake the steering to show… “ etc. that the forces are, maybe you call it a symptom, of the math. That is in a way letting me erase my expectations and start listening to what’s happening. I would lead with that in your marketing: something along the lines of “our ffb was not designed, it’s an emergent property of the math” mike drop

One little remark about setting the wheel rotation. You have to set a rotation which is not less than that of the car you are using, otherwise even when it's the same in driver and in game, it could give incorrect rotation. This could be easily a problem in cars like the Porsche which has 800 degrees of steering lock. If you set 720 in driver and in game, you get incorrect wheel rotation. To be safe, just use 900 or more. But I thought it would be useful to those who are tempted to use lower values for some reason.

Super Great, And this is where my personal statement of saying that all DDs are basically good and not falling into the argument that if Alpha, Fanatec, SIMUCub, azetek blah blah blah blah, the most important thing is the configuration, since each SIM processes different physics and each car has different physics. There are people who out of ignorance buy a-DD to Play F1 2022 2023 and it is actually an excess not used.

I used to love a particular feature of Project Cars 2 that gave you the option to change the flavour of FFB from normal to communicative (my personal preference) to aa third option i don't remember the name of, all 3 had marked differences in feel and genuinely helped customize feel for better driving for individuals, even if the game's ffb was a bit flawed. There were further customisation sliders too but i don't remember how important they were.

Sorry to say , but the Perfect FFB does exist and is the one that does what a real car does. Perfect is even to much let's say CORRECT. This is how I look for the Correct FFB 1) The car has to stay straight, give a slight turn and the wheel will turn back straight and car will go straight, with no help from the driver. 2) Stop the car, turn completely the wheel to a lock, now slowly accelerating the wheel will start aligning, Stop the car and wheel will stop, final result should be POINT 1, car going straight with the driver not touching the wheel 3) Unstable the car just slightly (5-10°) angle with the Hand brake, the wheel has to counter steer just the correct to keet that lateral momentum and once the wheels get the grip, the final result is still POINT 1. This is what the GAME FIRST OF ALL has to give you, A Garantee that the front wheels are properly communicating with the Steering wheel, Should be a two ways Communication, not a one way with only the wheel getting Stiffer of lighter. Dumper should not be used, becasue if it tell a wheel to stop at 45°of rotation, it hast to pull/Push to that position and if it start oscillting is becasue there is a FFB logic flaw in the software. A lot of SIM Ignore the Centering torque, like in ACC we are driving GT3 cars with 12° Caster and having NO centering torque from the wheel, You can do this simple test: On the suspension settings, front wheels, TOE IN the Left wheel and TOE OUT the Right wheel. Now put the wheel straight and drive, you will notice the car drifting off, but if you leave the wheel it will still go in that direction. This is wrong!!!! If everything is correct the wheel will turn to the left enough to have the car going straight.

Great video. Sadly tyre wear is massively exaggerated on TS 300RS since 1.8. Ffb feel just wears off after 3-4 laps and becomes very light. Feels amazing at first then disappears. Clean racing. So annoying. Have tried everything and all settings and different cars and setups ! Seems some other thusmaster users experience same. So annoying. Ruins my enjoyment. Take a pit stop and change tyres and the weight and track friction feeling in ffb is back. For 2-3 laps. Then goes again. And no I don’t spin or drive aggressively. Always using car consistency and track control app top right of screen. I am 99% sure it’d a glitch in the sim relating to Thrustmasters.

Why ACC does not use max torque output instead of gain % It would be crystal clear. Then one could decide the range and the linearity to send to the wheel. 😅 GT cars have a close range of torque. But for Ac2 please, it would be great to have this. Also in the quest of objective FFB I do not understand why is dampening not set per car. I thought each GT3 model had their own dampening specs because of their different power steering systems. Is it not integrated from scratch? Your integration of the car geometry applies only a kind of coefficient ?

1:02:47 you almost accidentally mentioned something about the "Dynamic Damping" I still don't know what it's supposed to do, and honestly I feel no difference - even when switching between 0% to 200%. Might be some astrology there ;-) (I'm a Sagittarius and on CSL Elite)

I still don't understand how to set up damping on the Porsche. What should one be aiming for when setting this up on a rear engine car? Should it have the same effect as a mid or front engine car? Or does it behave completely different? I understand they'd want to rotate a lot since the weight distribution is different. It's just that I'm unsure what it should feel like.
@ericbourduas8141
@ericbourduas8141 2 жыл бұрын
I main the Porsche and also tried setting the damper using that car. Seems like a lost cause, as even with all damper settings maxed out it would still oscillate. Probably best to use the Ferrari like Aris did and set it to a good value for you there, and trust that the same value is good for the Porsche. If it still oscillates with that damper setting, it should then be because that's just how the car is, and not because your damper is set wrong.

@@ericbourduas8141 What you said are exactly my thoughts, also. I wish someone could just properly explain the desired effect for the Porsche and how it should handle. Why is it important to have game wheel perfectly align with real life? I saw a lot of posts recommending setting steering angle matching real car. For me personally, having 1080 rotation makes steering car a big challenge because i have to steer much more and harder to make turns.
@bratosin1
@bratosin1 2 жыл бұрын
Because you want to feel the real car and how it's actually steer , that s why it's crucial to have the perfect matching rotation , for example my real bmw car has 900 degree, if I switch in a game the steering rotation to 490 the car will feel very strange to me
@kwekofmeister
@kwekofmeister 2 жыл бұрын
@@bratosin1 exactly, gt3 have 300-500 degree, and not 900 or 1080, setting different from 1080 wheel rotation just changes steering ratio, and i dont get whole matching steering wheel's movement thing. Why just not to set same angle as car has irl

Yeah hopefully in a future update we can enable damping, although it depends on the fixed drivers of each wheel for the console.

Thrustmaster Ts Xw p310 Xbox one ,here the settings for Acc : 1.gain 80% ( only little little clipping in some heavy downforce like rau rouge,90% of the time zero clipping) 2. Minimum force 7% 3. Road effects 0% All the rest of the settings leave it standard

I have exact same wheel also on Xbox one. I too have 80% gain I would have to look what the rest is set at. Do you adjust Steering Lock based on any one car's DOR or leave it set to 900° all the time?

Also is your wheel dor set on to 900 or 1080 in your PC firmware settings?

@@ptgfern4588 on xbox you must put every time the exact rotation for every single car ! For Ferrari 490 , McLaren 490 , porche 810 , bmw gt3 580 , Mercedes 660 , Nissan 650 , I don't remember all right now Only with pc you must leave 900 because the pc match the rotation automatically On the settings of the wheel/ controll panel , you must put 1080

@@ptgfern4588 on gain settings you can go up to 90% to feel better the car , you will have just a little bit clipping some times in high speed corners if you don't mind , like aris said in this video it's up to you if you want more information on all the track or more information in the high speed corners /downforces , after hours of testing I believe it s more important to feel information all the time for me so I switch to 90% gain because I don't really see the differences in the corners with clipping or without

12:10 to 16:36. Thats your perfect FFB right there. The objective truth. Real steering forces and ONLY those. No G force SoP bulls**t. If u want those get a motion rig, pushing them to your wheel will only cause confusion.

For Fanatec, is the centering Spring: SPR? Does the setting need to be 0 then ?
@ArisDrives
@ArisDrives 2 жыл бұрын
Use SPR to 100%, it's not automatic centering.

@@Fummi DRI is a setting on Fanatec's belt wheels that add a constant force of weight on the wheel or lessen the force to let the wheel rotate faster. It is not an auto-centering setting. Far as I am aware no Fanatec wheelbase has an auto-center setting.
