The way AshFur insisted he’s not a stranger but rather a friend while holding ShadowSight’s singular lighter color paw, a marking so unique to SquirrelFlight, it’s just so *chef’s kiss* attention to detail. (TBC MAJOR SPOILERS) Oh my God this literally captures the pure horror of this arc. Most people just think of it as, "oh the stinky man's back and manipulating kids, this should be fun," but the actual events of The Broken Code can be truly terrifying if you put yourself into the scene with them. I imagine this is exactly what Shadowsight's encounters with Ashfur, a cat whom had attempted to kill him, and haunted his continuous dreams and visions, had been like. More so when he had to take care of Ashfur while the whole clan treated him like dirt, each time wishing he could get away from this awful and horrifying cat that seemed to be haunting him. There are many scary scenes this arc, like when the Sisters summoned the spirits of the passed warriors to see them all screeching in anger and pain all around them, unable to speak behind their helpless calls of agony, with Ashfur watching them all with a deranged smirk. This scene literally gave me chills. I can't believe I'm saying this, but.. the Erin's really outdid themselves with TBC.

Oh, the colors and art style is so homey yet mysterious, perfect for that autumn vibe. I love how the tension keeps building without any real release, it really feels like being trapped in a nightmare where everything is uncomfortable but there's no ability to escape. I love Ashfur's messed up teeth and Shadowsight's orange eyes too, such striking and effective designs!

Oh my goodness, this was amazing, very stunning and breathtaking. The threatening aura and how it was portrayed was framed so well, and the movements of both Ashfur and Shadowsight felt so real. The timing animation wise is very impressive, and the entire darker look of it all gave it a unique atmosphere as well that made the impact of watching more splendid. I really love the way you cast everything in the dream in a soft orange hue EXCEPT for ashfur, who you cast in blue. It makes him look so alien, so jarring. It marks him immediately as an intruder in this comfortable, cozy little dream world. Like a cancer, just... foreign, and wrong. You absolutely killed it on this one.

Gosh I love how you designed this! I love Shadowsights orangey-yellow eyes and purple pupils, how one of his front legs has a different pattern than the others, and of course his bushy fur and folded ears! He looks so young and innocent but his colours fit in perfectly with the background and the imagery going on around him. I love how he’s both keeping an eye on Ashfur and trying to look away from him. Cause Ashfur’s a StarClan cat after all; and even though their visions may be scary, it’s still his responsibility to listen for their message. And for the mysterious boogie man-cat who I couldn’t possibly hazard a guess as to the identity of I love how how his teeth don’t quite fit in his mouth. Every grin is a toothy grin with his canines sticking out like that, it gives the look like he’s going to devour him and I love that. I also adore how his blue eyes are the only really blue thing in this animation. Like it’s out of place or doesn’t belong. (don’t get me wrong they look amazing and the difference really makes them pop, but that difference also helps attract attention to him as something unusual that doesn’t belong in his surroundings.) And as for the split second of a shadowy silhouette with green eyes, I gotta be honest I originally thought that was Hollyleaf. It still could be her, but in writing this comment I’ve come to the realization that that’s probably Dovewing. Although that is interesting, cause I imagined it to be Hollyleaf when I was thinking in association with Ashfur. But when associating it with Shadowsight I see it as Dovewing. And I just think that’s cool. It’s also another great callback to their parallel of the role of the third cat in the prophecy being confused between Dovewing and Hollyleaf which probably has nothing to do with this video and I’m just brainrotting now- The backgrounds as well are really cool, I love the murky(?) desaturated colours and the orange lighting; and how the blood isn’t very bright nor is it flowing. It gives the look like it’s been there a while and is drying out. I love that the moon, the stars, and characters eyes are brighter than everything else cause it makes them pop so well. I especially love how the moon and stars are orange like Shadowsight’s eyes, cause this is his dream, his reality that’s being warped by a visiting figure. The illusion of an intruder is also emphasized so well with how Ashfur remains solidly black in Shadowsight’s dream, not having any light bounce off and illuminate his figure, and not casting a shadow. And it makes sense how Ashfur has no distinguishing features cause Shadowsight doesn’t know him. He exists in Shadowsight’s head as silhouette speaking to him cause this is all Shadowsight knows him as. Then back in the waking world after Shadowsight wakes up Ashfur appears behind him with a grey coat and distinguishable spots speckled on his fur, because this isn’t Shadowsight’s dream anymore, it’s reality. So Ashfur is going to appear as how he actually looks. And puppet Bramblestar! Honestly pretty cute, I’d snuggle with that. And again with the colours popping cause they’re not part of the original dream so they differ from the palette it’s genius! I love the symbolism of “it’ll get worse before it gets better” with Ashfur ripping the limp doll in half then having it standing on its own better than before. But of course it’s not “It’ll get worse before it gets better” it’s “It’ll get worse then a lot worse” cause the doll’s got new pretty blue eyes that again contrast with his pelt, like that’s now how it’s supposed to be.
