I realize you posted this 4 years ago but wanted to tell you how happy I am to finally see someone post about tumbling fire agates. I got tumblers for Christmas 2023, and have been tumbling “fire agates” from Saddle Mountain in Tonopah since Christmas. They take an amazing shine. I finished a barrel but ended up starting them all over due to pits and so on. But the all areas around the pits had an amazing shine. I suppose most would be ok with how they turned out. They are taking forever. I’ll be very happy once done. Thank for posting this video.

Thanks for the journey down memory lane :) I grew up in NM in the 70's and mom had a rock tumbler about the size of yours, maybe a little smaller, and I remember hearing that wrring noise going on in the garage for days and then the pretty rocks! They were like gold to me, lots of quartz some agates now looking back on it. I still have a small jar that I saved after I cleaned out our house when she passed in 2012. Mom loved the outdoors and we took lots of small hikes (mom was a smoker so don't know that she could have handled the bigger ones) in our wonderful NM deserts. I know she'd be excited to see your channel and thanks for letting me relive a wonderful time of my growing up. You must not be too far away, I live in Marana, and I've been bugging my husband to go out to Saddle Mountain (doesn't take much, he's spent his whole life here and loves exploring), so maybe we'll see you around. Enjoy your day and hope you are all doing well.

I commented on part one. I have one Fire Agate. Let me tell you I'm glad I have one. Beautiful in and out. 😍❤️🔥🌍 I don't have a tumbler but I get the right sand paper and I just hand do them. Just keep putting water on it and sand away. Like keep a spray bottle by ya and spray er once n awhile. It's not just a hobbie to me it's a passion❗❤️👑 anyways boss, I am enjoying your videos.

They look amazing. I just got a tumbler for Mother's Day and started some fire agate bits in it. Thanks to your video, I'm going to go for longer than the tumbler instructions suggest for the average rock. I'm so excited!

WAT, YOU ARE LETTING KIDS JUST GIVE THESE AWAY LOL. DID I HEAR THAT RIGHT. Very generous my man but the treasure's you have. I have one and it was hard to get... Like hard.. I mean I'm not like Lord of the rings crazy over mine but it's beautiful. Very pretty colors. I can't wait to see mine get down more. I'm still seeing that brown agate. I can see the rainbow bubbles but I want to see it more n more a pendant. It's so memorizing. 👑😍🔥

My wife went with me this year rock hounding. Looked for Fire Agate in the two rockhound areas in southeast Arizona. We found several specimens, we then traveled west and stopped for a break, low and behold while stretching my legs I find chalcedony. We found several more specimens in about fifteen minutes. What a great state for rockhounding.

I found your channel on YT when I started rock hounding a few months ago, and it's funny that I also have a batch of fire agates and chalcedony tumbling right now. I'm about to start the polish stage, and I'm tumbling a 6lb barrel right now. Thanks for the video!

This is what concrete is made of!! So never put it down your drain!!!!!!!!!!!!! I prefure to do it outside. those plastic pellets are handy, but when it comes to the polish stage leather cut up into little strips works better. Cerium oxide, or zinc oxide, as the final polish. Kids love this stuff! I like to take them down to the places that I found them, and just leave them on the picnic tables for the kids to find them, with a note " these were found on this beach " Burnishing make so much difference! Wow you have inspired me. Haven't fired up my tumbler for a couple years. got lots of nice rocks. No excuse!!

Great video. Ive been cutting fire agates a very long time and I tend to get a lot of dud's. This would really help weed out the bad ones and take far less time cutting and polishing.

I used to have a tumbler (along with my lapidary unit) and I remember buying a special ONE STEP grit that you put in and just let it run for weeks. The grit would break down as it went along until it turned into a polish compound. I can see drawbacks to it especially with softer stones but with Agates....great stuff. (also, we did not use plastic beads, we used walnut and pecan shells) I do not know if it is still available. Thanks for the trip down memory lane Bill

You are like a professor with everything you do my friend. I am just now learning the art and sure wish I had seen this series long ago.I have access to a lot of agate(yellowish) and volcanic glass here. Big mistake in mixing them together as the final polish really didn't do it all that well. Just like life in general there is always more to learn eh. Thanks for my ongoing education professor. You two take care eh !
