If instead the mispronunciation ignores obvious letters or can’t be easily understood as the intended word (ax, pacific, pasketti, etc) that’s more likely to be a mis-hear than a mis-read.

What people don't understand the reason why there's so many different flood legends around the world is because flash flooding and floods are some of the most common natural disasters. In my hometown of Columbus Ohio. On the Near Westside it's called the Bottoms. Because that part of Columbus was built on a floodplain. The native Americans would avoid building permanent settlements in that area. Up until the dam was built in the late 1950s.There was a major flood on the Westside of Columbus on average every 10 years.The worst occurring in 1913 in terms of loss of life. Anywhere between 93 to 106 people were killed.
@Ugly_German_Truths5 жыл бұрын
They also forget that throughout history water was so important for both drinking and travelling in the more primitive societies that it formed literally the life veins of every important ancient civilisation and the core of all settlements... humans go for oasis, rivers, coastal regions where food, drink and trade opportunities are plentyful. And where you have lots of water for the good, it can just as easily turn for the worse... either through drought (lots of legends about that too) or flood. If the only thing basically any human society EVER has in common is the need for readily available water, what will be the only stories they will all share? Ones about making more humans (childbirth, love, violence born from disagreement who got to be with which woman) and ones about water being the thing bringing the rise and downfall of civilisations... You can learn that even in homeschooling (not that i was homeschooled, it's very rare in Germany as we have mandatory attendance laws)

I am dying of poverty & easily treatable illnesses because my huge extended, middle & upper-middle, healthy, widely religious family ALL have less empathy & compassion & common sense than I do!! Because of MY REALITY being too uncomfortable for them to acknowledge, my mother will sit by right across the road from me & watch me die of terminal heart failure, rather than even discuss my options or any future I may have! After everyone in my family got support starting their lives, opening businesses, completing college, and all family except me & my mother & grandmother moved all over the country just for the fuck of it, I am the one told "sorry, sucks to be you!" Because moving to save my life is not a reason they can accept!! "Henotheism (from Greek ἑνός θεοῦ (henos theou) 'of one god') is the worship of a single, overarching godwhile not denying the existence or possible existence of other lower deities." The ancient hebrews went from polytheist to henotheist to monotheist, and that is written that way in the bible, thats why it eventually goes from "though shall have no other gods before me", to "Thy god is one". The writing reflects that change but they don't admit it And Pagan started as a derogatory word for people other than Romans (like how Jews say Gentile), and it meant 'Country dweller" (so..."hick")...and when the Roman Empire adopted Christianity which is monotheist, "pagan" was still used but it tranfered to mean any polytheist. And in modern times we have retained this Christian Roman meaning to refer to polytheists. Dannu (Dana) was the founding goddess of the Irish even though they worhsipped others she was the main one (worshipping many with one as a primary has its own word I cant recall). And many Greco Roman cults were henotheist.

Discounting every other problem and assuming only a few thousand animals, Noah and his entire family could not have physically shovelled all that manure overboard in time to stop them from choking on the fumes after the first day.

@@jwsanders1214 Baby mammals feed on their mothers milk. So clearly the Ark must have had a walk in refrigeration section and Noah and his family went around milking all the mammals for months on end to get enough milk for the duration of the flood. We all know how easy it is to milk cows and goats and lions and tigers etc. It all makes perfect sense, all we need to do now is ignore Genesis 7:2 where it specifically says to take a male and its mate, because of course the ability to mate is what defines an animal as adult. Checkmate atheists!

This show really resonates with me because whilst I will always support people’s right to hold any religious beliefs they want but I find denying science and knowledge, especially to children, really makes me upset and angry. I LOVE learning about this incredible world we live in and the internet has just increased my astonishment in how vast and unknown this cosmos is and how much we still have to discover. There is awe and wonder all around us if we open our eyes.

Last time a creationist told me the Bible was "God's word", I opened up a Bible and said "Gee, according to the Bible, Moses wrote Genesis. You say God wrote it. Are you saying God lied and gave credit to Moses?"
@franktherealist4815 жыл бұрын
What's ironic about that is it's a Christian theory, (hate using the word "theory" for religious purposes), and Rabinical scholars have already declared that Moses wasn't a real person. So, christianity is living a truth how?
@bdf27185 жыл бұрын
You have to admit it was pretty miraculous how Moses wrote about his own death and burial.

@@bdf2718 LOL! Yeah. It's ironic that a fictional character in a Jewish story would have had the ability to write about himself... Theists love fictional stories. Atheists do as well but it seems we're better at knowing what's myth and what's historic.

31:05 -- "witchcraft" isn't a single religion. Among the many sects or traditions within Wicca or neopaganism, they each follow quite different pantheons and creeds. He may be thinking of something along the lines of Dianic paganism, which leans to goddesses and the female aspects. But it's wholly inaccurate to say that "witchcraft" has a supreme female deity, period. In fact, many forms of neopaganism ascribe equal roles, with both male and female aspects or gods, involved in the act of creation. This aside from restorationist movements which worship gods like Odin or Perun (alongside female goddesses). 32:15 -- God may be male in the Bible, but the Divine Wisdom -- and later the Holy Spirit -- are female in Hebrew, Arabic, and Syriac.. P.S. The Council of Nicaea never addressed the Biblical canon. Just sayin'

Uh, the founding goddess of the Irish people Dannu (Dana)? And many Greco Roman cults and others were Henotheist. "Henotheism (from Greek ἑνός θεοῦ (henos theou) 'of one god') is the worship of a single, overarching godwhile not denying the existence or possible existence of other lower deities." As in how the ancient hebrews went from polytheist to henotheist to monotheist. Pagan started as a derogatory word for people other than Romans (like how Jews say Gentile), and it meant 'Country dweller" (so..."hick")...and when the Roman Empire adopted Christianity which is monotheist, "pagan" was still used but it tranfered to mean any polytheist. And in modern times we have retained this Christian Roman meaning to refer to polytheists.
