The only thing i know is that all helper tools to create arkwiki etc is based on an external source where one person is left to substain it and its made for UE4. And there is currently no option that this will be converted into UE5. All mods which is why ARK became what it is are in UE4 and most of the modders are gone. And they are still own their rights to their mods. So when the mods are death they are death and neither WildCards no anyone else can just remake them because he wants to. Its not his sourcecode. The whole Mod Shop remembers me alot about what i heard that Bethesda did with Fallout. I have stopped playing ARK and currently I dont see a reason to start playing it again and with Ark Remake and Ark 2 soulslike God of War copy.

The new deal is worse if you are interested in Ark 2. Given the descriptions I have seen so far (Soulslike combat) I am not interested in that game. So the new deal is actually better for me. Not as good as a free upgrade, but better than having to buy a game I don't want.

They really did, and stretched it all too thin. Who makes an expensive animated series voices by all celebs and a whole new game with all new everything from scratch then oh BTW lets also make an update whoops I mean another all separate game remastered all at once. My 2 cents: all publicly traded companies are shyte and those that go from private to public join the pile. Once you go public the ONLY obligation you have is to keep the investors happy, and investors ONLY want money. Investors will burn a company to the ground for another dollar and you will happily do it. There may be a handful of publicly traded companies that won't sell YOUR soul for a dollar, but they would be the minority. Personally, I'd like to see some companies buy back their shares and go private again to regain their souls, but I don't see that happening. Enjoy. 900 million, gone, just like that.

The shutting down the servers is the part that gets me. None of the other parts prevent someone from playing as before - they just have to pay for upgrades that may not be reasonable, but then they have the choice to do so. People who play on the servers don't have that option though.

@LtBuzzLitebeer I have to disagree with you on that one. They are re-writing the base code to ASA which in turn is basically creating an entirely new game from a coding stand point. They are just fortunate that they have the assets ready to be plugged in and upgraded to the new graphical standard that will be present in UE5. I understand the frustration most ppl are having but I also understand the work that would go into what Wildcard is doing.

They wont. Wildcard/Snail, just like every gaming company out there understand that gamers are the absolute least principled consumers of any market. Watch wildcard's 2017 gdc talk and you can see them state that they take rants by gamers with a grain of salt because statistics show that they'll still end up buying. Wildcard is just simply again banking on that statistical knowledge and quite frankly, its not failed them yet (unfortunately).

its sad that, that's what its going to take & also TBF Wild Cards been getting restructured by it Parent company since day 1 if you look at their like list of developers you'll see several key personnel changes, changes made because these team Leaders were vocal about opposing NFT's in ARK ATLAS & any game really, or they were adamant about a Free ASA to owners of ARK & because Wild Cards only a Development studio & Snail Games in their Publisher Wild Card bends the Knee. Because that's the corporate world so honestly I don't Blame Wild Card I blame Jeremy Stiglits as the WORST decision he EVER made was signing a deal with Snail Games back when they first launched Survival of the fittest, that joined Wild Card as a subsidiary to Snail Games & Sold all Wild Cards IP's to Snail Games... if I were the dev I'd reject that offer Throw the CEO of the publishing company out the window, Make a call to my teams Delete it ALL Smash & burn the Work PC's & let my company die before I'd EVER give control of MY games to a Publisher that only see's things in $_$ But then I have Integrity, Balls, & a Brutish Nature to get my pound of flesh when I've been Insulted.

Ark's downfall is near.. 20,000 people have left the game since the bad news about losing the ability to play the official game because the servers are being wiped and re-purposed for Ark: 1.5 and later for Ark: 2.0!! The community has been divided and most of those 20,000 people will not be coming back to this franchise.. they have left all of it behind!! These people have put in 1,000 hours up to over 30,000 hours to be where they are in this game and it is being wiped!! The decision to not work to see all of our data go from Ark: 1.0 to Ark: 1.5 only shows us how little both WildCard and Snail Games value the time we have put into this game to get the things we have or to be where we are!! A divided community that is at odds is not a community that will support new things!! The gamble is Ark: 1.5 will have less bugs, will have better support and will have an active enforcement team to police and enforce the official servers!! That is all fine to say that but where has any of that been for Ark: 1.0 for years?? Heck tonight my game crashed due to a horrible bug!! If Ark: 1.5 is not perfect then this house of 'wild' cards all falls apart but the question has to be asked.. why bother with Ark: 1.5 if those servers will be wiped to kill the official version of Ark: 1.5 to force sales of Ark: 2.0 should those behind these games want more money?? Why bother starting again and grinding all over again to see it all wiped in a year or two?? Ark 1.5 seems to be a crowdfund for Ark: 2.0 and use ported Ark: 1.0 UE4 Assets in a new UE5 environment with those ported Assets making Ark: 1.5 a beta testing environment!! Ark: 2.0 is so different people who like Ark may not want it or be willing to buy what was developed for the Xbox and be given a lame Xbox Console Port!! So that means everything rides on Ark: 1.5 and the clowns have admitted they are learning how to work with UE5 and nothing is going to plan with it and that is why our data is invalid!! To me it seems like Ark: 1.5 is a rush job and it is being made as quickly as possible to give something the community needs to pay for to crowdfund Ark: 2.0!! Sorry.. I am not paying top dollar for the same game and content twice with a graphics upgrade hidden behind a paywall where it could be an absolute buggy and glitchy mess but also overrun by cheaters & hackers in no time.. just like Ark: 1.0 has been for years rendering PVP unplayable as a non-cheaters & non-hacker!!

Been saying this since respawned bundle was announced: ITS TOO MUCH, ASA should only be $20. The DLC's should carry over IF YOU ALREADY BOUGHT THEM FOR ASE. NEW players should still be charged for the DLC. This solution is literally the best and most fair for everyone. INCLUDING SNAIL GAMES.

Don't forget that they're also sunsetting all of the official servers. So, even if you wanted to just continue playing the old version, you won't be able to unless you either pay for and spin up your own private server or play it single player only. Even if you do that, you'll get no more updates or bug fixes. And the date for that "sunset" is only four months away. Sans that, players will simply lose everything they've ever done in the game.

This is "you will own nothing and be happy" The EULA says all of Ark is their property, even the characters and dinos, all of it. And poof. Virtual world is evil in this way. They cannot take your car unless you did not pay or its dangerous to use. A company cannot decide your car is no longer viable and will not be supported any longer, you'll have to get the new version or you're off the roads for good. It seems to be coming though, huh?

I'd like to see Snail Games go under, because they won't let Ark go willingly. Studio Wildcard is far from perfect, but I trust them a lot more than I trust Snail. If Wildcard could somehow get out from under Snail and publish in-house, there's a possibility of improvement. Overall, this situation is disappointing, because Ark is a phenomenal game (if you ignore all the bugs, cheating, and bad business practices), and it's the kind of game that clearly has staying power, despite the negatives.

Totally agree about the bugs, it's going to be a mess no doubt, but thing is, Ark survived bugs and all for nearly 8 years. DLC's... it's just basic port of assets and some little work on making everything fit the way they want it to. If they had the team for it, 4-5 months a map is totally possible... but I don't think they got that kind of man power. WC has always been late with updates, late with DLC and even events on different platforms are often late. Things are likely to go on with PVP. Ark players have the money for it, the question is, do they have the impulse control. PVP is mostly pleased, they are mekking down, happy to be wiped and start anew just like they have always been begging WC to do. Check out the older Community Crunches, it's always got PVP guys mad about cheaters, mad about meshing, begging for a full server wipe... it's all over the community forums all the time.

Man it's kind of a shame to watch this all happen, sure ARK is even now a bit of a broken and buggy mess, but it's been fun. But also one of the other things that I'm almost confident is going to happen is that, when the remaster comes out, it's going to be an absolute mess at launch with even more bugs and issues than regular ARK was at launch because this has been a pattern with every dlc launch. The dlc launches, it's broken and can be considered nearly unplayable because of how broken it is at launch, and then they eventually fix it; and I just can't in any good faith give any money to this thing after this point since it's likely to happen again. I agree with sticking to the plan of a $25 at max for the base game + all the current dlcs for the remaster maybe, depending on just how broken it all is when it actually launches.

It’s like when the primitive servers got taken offline. Little to no warning or reason. Took me a very long time to rebuild my bases and bloodlines for tames and things like that. As a guy that got the game when it was a Game Preview in Alpha on Xbox and having just came back after being gone due to work and getting started on the Viking map this hurts a lot and definitely has made me get a new console for basically no reason now

They sold me a car - then put new hub caps on it without asking me if I needed them. They told me the hub caps were free but a week later told me I was going to have to pay for the car again in full with extra costs if I want the new hub caps. They also tell me they will fix all the flaws in the car that they were aware of for 8 years and did nothing about. The community then tells me I should be grateful for all of this and that the company is poor despite selling 30 million cars and that they need to make money from all this to survive. That about sums this up.

In the middle through late year when I played ark through gamepass, all dlc was included then I picked up the base game from Epic Games when it was free a few months ago with no dlc which I did buy. Since the update and as I have said before with over 23000k hours playtime on one account. I have noticed that all servers I currently play on probably 40 % of the bases are in Decay Mode or have decayed with just remnants of Dedi boxes left. Most of my friends are moving on with ark exvcept to our own cluster becaue most of them can't afford or have available next gen consoles. Which is a big factor they didn't even look at NOT EVERYONE has Next GEN. I have a PS5 and on principle and with my friends won't be moving on to spend close to another $200 AUD on a game I already have. Thanks for the updates LT.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the people talking positively about the price developer are charging for the UE5 update are paid review professionals. Yes this profession is real. The developers hope by adding positive reviews it possibly over-ride the negative publicity. For example the person looking at purchasing Ark may not pay attention to the negative reviews especially when there are so many positives. I think this is called blind revenue where the developers hope consumers miss the fine print (the reviews stating how Ark servers shut down in August) and make enough to make up for loss over their own stupidity. It would be interesting to know what they we’re really thinking in this decision

Let's also include server hosting costs, an AWS EC2 server is not cheap. I don't know the requirements for a server so I went midrange with my estimate and built one on the AWS site. Just for one EC2 server it's around $6000 a month which is a server capable of hosting 10,000 players. Let's factor that into your estimate too.

Opposing view: From my understanding, Ark Ascended is NOT the UE5 upgrade that was originally promised to be free. The free upgrade was planned to be the Nintendo switch version with graphic settings unlocked for the stronger consoles and PC (I personally was not that excited for this upgrade when announced as it was a forced upgrade,and most of my mods would probably never work again, locking me out of my multi-year long single player experience) Ark survival ascended is supposed to be a "remake/remaster" of ark survival evolved. New content, new controls, new ai behavior, and obviously, new engine, so better graphics and performance. If when it releases it is essentially Ark Switch but prettier, I'll eat my words.

Atlas was supposed to be a Pirate themed update for Ark. Because the community was not happy with the raft or the motorized raft only. We were supposed to get a new map with bigger oceans and custom ships and that is why it plays very much like ark The update had an issue with some of the dinosaurs coding. Instead of fixing the broken or damaged code they decided to make The update a standalone pirate game called Atlas. Wild card Or snail went out of there way to try to hide that it was supposed to be an update for Ark. If you watch the original trailer (preview) It says it's an Ark update. Then they launched it as a standalone game. In games preview I don't even think it fully launched to Xbox because of how bad it did on PC. It disappeared. I've only seen videos of people complaining about how broken it is. Atlas flopped there was no money investors are pissed their stock is in the toilet. I pre-ordered Ark and was promised future DLC. For the increased Pre-order price. Had to buy it all over again with the stupid Battlepass Season bundle. Whatever it was came out My previous purchase was corrupted ? (The upgrades shouldn't be free), but it shouldn't be full price to people that have the full game & all the DLC. But especially Not the people that have the Games Preview F🤬king Pre-order codes. Early access code. ( Pissed off Investor ) me ) We didn't need the graphics update anyway if you are playing on the newest Xbox Series S/X. PS5, PC. The game still looks and works fine. It's only people with the older console / systems that are having trouble. They're shutdown the servers because they got increasingly toxic because they didn't keep the community in check and put toxic players on toxic only servers like they promised. I play Ark on a PS4 so I knew I wouldn't be able to play Ark 2 anyway. But I still had the Ark One to play. When I heard mods for console I was super excited. Then I was pretty much slapped in the face with the fact that I still won't be able to enjoy the game without upgrading my console or getting PC. To make matters worst I'm stuck with a game that will not receive anymore up grades or attention what so ever in the future. We all know the Ark One is not with out it's problems all this time and they're issues that have never really been fix. So the conclusion for me is I won't be play Ark at all. I am really sad about it all. I loved playing the game. I met so wonderful people play Ark and will some do so again. I am not so much as mad but just really sadden by their decision to do it this way.

"Upgrade" is not worth anything to me. I'm not paying for their transition to UE5. Not one more penny from me until you finish Ark Survival Evolved, it's still a buggy mess needing optimization of the graphics and game mechanics, tames disappear, items stop working for no apparent reason requiring restart of game to fix. I fell to my death in the ocean when dismounting my baryonyx on more than one occasion. My tames behavior settings change by themselves requiring me to reset them to my preferences. Learn to finish what you started before asking for more money, Wildcard/Snail! Learn to code!

snail games is killing ark man, I used to be a hardcore official main (not actual hardcore, just regular official), spent 4 years going after mega tribes that cheated like Abaddon, Umbrella core, so on and so fourth. I was black listed since 2019. Honestly i'd like to go back and play ark like the old days where raids meant something and everyone banned together to take care of griefers and offline raiders. Kind of like Nooblets for ps4. It gave me hope when I heard that there was an update for a free UE5 And server wipes so EVERYONE was starting fresh, so Everyone was on the same playing field. Then this Asian fuckin bullshit happens. If things don't change soon Ark will die, honestly it might be for the best. The game has had a good run for what it is, yet since the beginning the game has had A TON of problems, they (wildcard) want to blame hardware limitations so on and so fourth. The fault lies with them for trying to appeal to most of everyone's taste, but never tried to fix the meshing, duping, cheating. False claims for fixes, constantly having to push things back like dlc's, fixes etc. Not to mention the toxicity of pvp, to most it's fine but with that being said most who get raided hard by some ass hat usually leave, mainly due to the time that was put into their base, tames, gear etc. some come back but most don't due to the sheer bullshit from lack of dev support.

I am an ark player on Playstation since 2017 and have logged 10750 hours on Ark. I have met lots of really good people who have formed a community with me and others. Let's just say 15 people playing official.ark only, not one of us has intent on paying anything for Ark ascendant. And even less of a chance on playing Ark2 under its current direction of gameplay which has nothing to do with ark as we know it. If I had to guess right now I would say that there is less than a 30% chance that ark2 is ever released. And even less of a chance of it if it is released matching the original financial generation. I have not seen anybody mess up this bad since the demise of zipper interactive.

Most the player base feels the same... from PVE. It's a lot of PVP people who are happy with all of it. I don't know what will shake out of it, but I think by August, we'll see how the mood is and have a better idea of how desperate the company is and how addicted the players are.

I planned on playing ark for 3-6 months before ARK 2 drops, but now, "we" are all wondering if any of us will ever support WC again. Part of why they redid it was because they were lumping in free access to Ark 2 in the original deal which is underselling their newest and still highly anticipated game. Personally i rather pay 119 for everything than 89 for JUST ark:SA. Since Ark 2 access was JUST *early access* it never said permanent, free access to Ark 2 so that may have still been another 60 or so bucks for ark 2. 89+60 = 149. Not including Tax. So, my thoughts are: We're actually likely still getting it for cheap. Also, i loathed the idea of having to buy the DLC bundles and im much happier they're now all packaged with the original game. I may have to pay for the game again but the New features coming to ARK:SA + the rebuilding of the game makes me perfectly fine with that. Granted, i'd still wait and make sure the game is as good as it seems BEFORE buying, but i really do think Wildcard is making the right choice here and that this Version of Ark will be far better than the Original.

When Ark first came to playstation4 it was only like 20 dollars I can't tell you what year this was because I had a brain tumor surgery since thin and that was in June 2015 and at that time Ark on PSN was still not completely fully develop and it was being sold on the PSN
