Bit late on this one, I apologize for that. Place down your fence supports and mount a wall to it. If you try and mount a ceiling, it'll say you need proper support to do it. Take a pillar and snap it to the support. There should be 3 points: Left, Middle, and Right. You should also be able to move the pillar up and down each support individually, lining it up with the ceiling to be perfectly flush. If you don't want the pillar protruding through the wall, you can do the above steps, and then snap a pillar halfway into the ceiling you just placed. There's 2 snap points in the middle, one is slightly lower than the other- use the lower one. Snap a 2nd pillar to this pillar, and then connect that to the ground. Remove the first pillar and the column should be perfectly level. You can then demolish the pillar(s) inside the fence foundation. A bit tedious, but it's the best I've got

Pretty awesome Tips & Tricks video, thank you! I want to build a Wall under water (cage for my aquatic dinos) but even with the Fence Support, it's a really messy and time consuming action. Do you habe any Tips or Hints for building a sea-cage with the + mod?

It works in original version, but the only thing you need to remember is to place a thatch/wooden/stone foundation close to fence foundation. It doesn't need to be together by any means (as 311.81)

How did you place the walls down into the ground? There's a gap I can crawl under in a few of my segments and it won't let me put walls there, or extend the fence supports down into the ground. Basically makes it useless since if I can crawl under it the stuff I want to put in there will be able to get out. I tried to start out with the fence supports on lower ground, but when they start going into the ground it won't let me build them like you did in your video. Is this with a mod or settings changed? Oh I see, Structures+. I think I need to enable clipping into terrain and this should work on mine.

Hey man, quick question. I am building on uneven ground as you did in the video but my game is not allowing me to place a wall that clips into the ground. It will a tiny bit but nothing compared to what yours allowed. Is there something I am doing wrong? I am using s+ glass walls in case that matters. Thanks!

+Zack Shanks That's most likely due to the change that S+ did. He removed 100% clipping because WildCard made it an option for people. If you search for clipping config, I'm sure you'll find the setting you need to add

In case you didn't find it yet, in the first page of settings when loading up your world, it's somewhere in the bottom 10 ones (just a checkbox) saying something about no-collision when placing structures, definitely a humongous help. Sidenote, great vid man, examples, but to the point, now I gotta go make some fence supports for my valley wall...

Hitting 'G' doesn't seem to work anymore. I have tried it on both the fence foundation and the fence supports. The supports also don't seem to be snapping to the foundation (stone if that matters). I see you posted this video in 2016, so maybe in 2020 it's completely changed.

This is my experience in 2021 as well. So far I'm completely unable to get straight snaps for fence supports ... only +/- 135deg and sometimes 90deg snaps.

Dang it i wish I had thought to cycle fence foundation snap points when building my quick-fab carno taming pen. Was getting really irritated with the stupid snap points not lining up where I wanted them. Would have saved so much time and effort. >.< Thanks for the visual reminder/display; definitely a thing that needs to be utilized more often.

+Venger Voldur No worries Venger. Being able to cycle snap points is fine but what I love about the S+ ones, you can lock them to only accept one type of snap point. Now why doesn't the vanilla one work like that?

Problem is that if you build on a hill and it stays the same height, you'll either end up with having to add a lot of walls at the lower end or you'll have a very low fence at the top of the hill. Not sure if you understand what I mean but meh xD

Trying homestead update that was just released on The Island legacy server, fence supports don't seem to work like is shown in the video. "g" doesn't seem to toggle straight snaps, cannot for the life of me get fence supports to connect straight but the odd angles ones like 135 degrees works. In fact it seems to *only* let me connect at 135 degrees. Trying to toggle through snaps doesn't seem to allow straight connection. Not sure what I'm doing wrong..

G isn't working for me either, but I am able to toggle through the connections to find the straight one. I am, however, not able to place walls under the fence wall, so it leaves big gaps under the walls where there dinos can walk in to my base anyway :p

Fucking sweet. A building tip I've learned is using pillars, railings, and fence foundations to make tall see through fences instead of walls and using pillars to cover up any joints or changes in elevation to give it a more sturdy look. Definitely gonna use fence supports to make territory control walls at choke points.

When I used the fence supports to keep the walls at the same height I couldn't place a wall below the first wall like you did at approximately 2:54. Any chance you have a tip to be able to put a wall there? It's really flat land I use the fence foundations

Was there no snap point for it or was it showing a red hologram? If it was a red hologram it sounds like a collision issue. I always play with no clipping enabled so I can clip building pieces into the terrain

Jess, I'm afraid all of the S+ Tips n Tricks videos that I do are tips about structures that require the Structures Plus mod. Until the S+ mod gets incorporated into the base game you won't be able to find them on PS4 unfortunately

No clip building is now a server option, it need to be enabled by your server settings instead on the mod settings

You could try placing pillars to the height you want, put a ceiling on top of that and then put walls down on the outside. You may get gaps at the bottom without S+ but there is a way to make it right. I will try to find the video I watched showing how to do it and post the link here if that is ok with Timmy?

Why does S+ Wood Wall not allow me to build a wall that touches the ground (with the supports) at 2:53 you place a wall underneath another one, and it's halfway into the ground... S+ tells me that I can't do that "Obstruction" and it won't allow me to place.... crap building system in this game my God!

+cneuhauser1 WildCard changed the way clipping works. They made it an option in the config settings which will apply to any structure you place. I forget what the option is called but if you do a quick google search I'm sure you'll find what you need
