I was cringing the entire time in fear that a stupid as driver was gonna wack one off the road. For anyone that doesn’t know what to do in this situation, stay in your lane as long as they have a way to get through. If there’s not a way to get through, safely make a hole in traffic for them. Edit: I say stay in your lane due to the disparity in speed and how quickly everything will happen. At those speeds, the closure rate is about 70-90 mph to normal traffic which is way too fast to have to think about a decision to make it.

And the brain of a Neanderthal. I cannot image an offense that truly justifies some idiot pursuing another idiot at 120 to 140 mph, in the dark, on a public roadway, with innocent civilians minding their own business. There is so much opportunity to disaster. Many state and local agencies have realized that when they engage in these types of pursuit the risk greatly outweighs the reward. You may catch a bad guy, but you could kill someone uninvolved. The PIT at that speed could have launched that car over the Jersey barrier and into on coming traffic. Once a vehicle traveling at those speeds get that far out of control there's no telling where it is going to land. Personally, I'd prefer cops find another way to secure bad guys that place God knows how many lives at risk. They got his plate number. Catch him later. Set up a rolling roadblock. There has to be a better solution. I also wish people would simply pull over, but people are stupid. Not all, but many. We cannot do much about that. What we can impact is cops acting equally stupid when the adrenaline starts pumping. Two wrongs don't make a right. Sooner or later wrong will prevail.
