Every one of these videos I've seen the driving is excellent, but I would like to say that the crew that maintains these cars to run at that level of performance and the way the suspensions are set up is also well worth mentioning. Nothing at all to degrade the Officers just wanted to say the maintenance crews deserve a few kudos as well.

Driving through Arkansas on my way to Texas I was pulled over by a trooper. Following the directions on my phone it incorrectly posted the speed limit. The officer was VERY polite. Verified my information and suggested the safest rest area. Followed me there to make sure I was safe. Bless him! I wish I could remember his name.

i am a retired police officer and i have the utmost respect for any state trooper. i was a city officer and troopers hardly ever have any back up as they are spread pretty thin. that trooper was great and the idiot that ran got what was coming. very impressed with trooper niles driving skills as pursuits are very intense.

A State Trooper attended our church a few years ago. I asked her about the Dodge Hemi Chargers they operated. She told me they underwent exclusive and intense training to drive them on the highway. I now see what she was talking about. Those were some impressive driving skills. Especially considering he stopped to retrieve his cover before beginning pursuit, and the fact the suspect car was out of sight for a while.

Hands down the best driving I've ever seen at that speed by State Trooper! When his hat flew off in the beginning the perp got a huge head start. How in the world did trooper even see where the guy went? I mean, he was light years ahead of him and he still caught up! Granted 135mph isn't recommended in chases but I think this troop was so skilled at driving that he was completely calm and reserved. Lastly, I didn't know Lexus made racing tanks? I am a firefighter, and responded to a Lexus that crashed while being pursued, and it may have been the most violent crash I have ever seen. He went off the road and hit a culvert, flew so high in the air that he shorted out the overhead electrical lines, cartwheeled 3 times (the engine completely detached form the vehicle- there was nothing left forward of the firewall), and landed upright. None of the windows were missing, not even the sunroof, and.. the passenger-side door still opened! The driver had severe internal injuries from all that cartwheeling, but lived.

Takes the time to pick up his hat, Cover all possible secondary routes of escape. Confident those routes are clear, he catches up easily with them using good logic and lights and sirens. The traffic played to the officer's advantage. Without the traffic, dude may have been too far ahead with 2 many possible secondaries. Also it could be you don’t exactly want to do a sudden lane change when a cop is coming up behind you at 100mph. Probably best to stay in your lane so the cop can predict your movement

It seems all the signage on the highway instructing drivers to yield to state vehicles with red lights flashing means nothing to most drivers. I guess they can drive but not read. I'd hate to see how many are uninsured too.

To be fair, most folks don't know there's a cop behind them until lights catch their attention, and a those speeds no one can really know until the patrol car is almost on them. Let's add to that - and this is important - drivers don't always know HOW to get out of the way; you saw in this video some pulled to the inside, others pulled to the outside, and others were fine staying in their lanes. In most of this event it was unnecessary for drivers to actively get out of the way as there was often plenty of room for the cop to zoom around instead of reacting to a motorist who was "getting out of the way." I'm impressed to see a PIT at this high speed. Cool

This happened to me before in Chula Vista, CA on the 805 freeway. A car was speeding really fast in the far left lane. You can hear the sirens, so people figured to move over right, you couldn't see the cop car until it emerged from the far right lane. For all those Commenting on people not moving out the way....it's not as cut and dry as you think. With traffic behind you in every lane, you won't know until you see the cop behind you, which by then its far roo late. You're going 65-70 mph while the cop and suspect are well over 100mph.

What you say is true however it’s my opinion that drivers in general do NOT use their rear view mirrors nearly often enough. EVERY TIME you’re driving you should make it a habit of knowing what’s behind you. Check your rear view mirrors every few seconds. At highway speeds traffic can change quickly. It’s more important to be aware and expect the unexpected. Always have an idea what to do in an emergency. Great job by this trooper, for sure….!

Oh yes it is! Unless you’re just plain ignorant to the obvious around you, on the highway you can hear them before you even seen them! I’ve driven all around a number of states, highways, byways, two lane roads and multiple lane highways and overpasses…. You can hear ‘em coming and then it is up to YOU to take the necessary precautions to “pull over for emergency vehicles….”every state has that law…. So, NO, there is NO EXCUSE for “I’ll ignore the siren until I can see the lights” especially on a divided highway!!!!

Why do they never have an ID? I could count all the times I've ever forgotten to take my ID with me on my thumbs, and usually I realize it and turn around and go back to get it. Also I've heard on other chases where the police won't PIT someone because they're going too fast. NOT ARKANSAS! They were doing 113 mph when he initiated the PIT. At those speeds a successful PIT is pretty much a done deal.

I agree…. It is amazing! Most of the age groups I’ve seen in chases have, for the most part, drivers Ed in school.. I can’t envision a driving instructor - private or public - telling a student NOT to have their driver’s license on them or in the car…. What I have noticed is that, that simple phrase usually implies something more… I’m sure the police and troopers know that…. Notice they don’t make a big deal out of it (because they know this).

All the comments on the officer's driving skills are wonderful. BUT how many HUNDREDS of innocent citizens were put in harms way when he was pursuing someone at 100+ mph? This was a 10 - 15 minute chase. One mistake by another motorists, like trying to pull over to the left when the see the lights, could have ended in death.

Remember he neither started the pursuit nor would have gotten up to speeds if the suspect didn’t excelerate, first….. that perp would have kept on going with NO REGARD FIR HIS OR ANYONE else’s safety! HE had a gun…, supposed his car went kaput and he hijacked a car with a family in it…. If he was willing to go those speeds, he certainly wouldn’t have had regard for anyone he hijacked…. I'm not sure how you are able to judge the overtaking speed of the vehicles in the left lane while the camera is traveling at twice the speed limit. If your superior powers of observation can, it's also possible they were beginning to slow down if they saw the lights coming from behind. I understand you just want to rant about left-lane squatters, but this was an unusual video to make that point. Do you have a quota of rant posts you need to get out each day?
