I'm from Portugal, but since i was a child and took interest in geography i love the USA, and particularly Arkansas, for it's natural beauty and scenery. This song makes me nostalgic of Arkansas, and i've never been there. Next year i'm gonna finish my studies and start working, and who knows, hopefully i'll visit, never to leave again.

When I moved to Arkansas in 2011, I never imagined I would like living there. After I left in 2014, I missed it like crazy. Now, my fondest wish is to return. I think anyone who has ever lived in Arkansas can relate to the sentiment in this song. It really does run deep.

I’ve lived nearly all of my 49 years here in Arkansas, and don’t see myself ever leaving. I briefly lived in the swamps of SE Georgia, just north of Jacksonville, FL, only long enough to long for the hills and fresh flowing streams of my home state. I was never so happy to get back to the tree-covered hills and streams of Arkansas, out of the swamps and back to being a hillbilly.😂 I’ve travelled both internationally and within the US, and love it, but I choose to live in Arkansas. Especially when I look at what we’re paying here for a high quality of living compared to more populated areas-I can’t begin to imagine what my house would cost in CA or even TX. I’ve got 2300+ sq ft on 2.5 lots (.6 acres) in the highly desirable historic downtown neighborhood of Benton, my hometown of about 40,000 in the Little Rock metro. It was on Money.com’s list in 2021 of 50 Best Places to Live (US). I can’t imagine how many millions my house (and neighborhood) would cost me in CA; it’s not hard to see why so many people are moving here, especially from TX and CA. Of course, we don’t want TOO many new people getting the memo and deciding to move here, it would totally ruin the whole point of having a small, more sparsely populated state. So shhh!🤫 Don’t tell everyone!😉😆 Sure, we’ve got our problems like everywhere/everyone else, but there’s a lot of wonderful things to make up for it, especially when you get outside into nature here, and enjoy what the place has to offer.

I was born in Arkansas and lived there until I was 13, then I moved to California. I'm 16 now, but Arkansas will always be home. Although I live 2,000 miles away, I visit as much as I can, and I spend as much time as I can outside enjoying the nature of Arkansas that I love the most. Arkansas has a very special place in my heart and I plan on moving back there some day. I miss my home.

To everyone who asked, I ended up moving back there with the military in 2015. I wasted the time I had. I didn't really start going out and enjoying the beauty of Arkansas again until I was a few months out from moving away in 2018. I didn't have the best time but it was my own fault, I wasn't who I used to be when I posted the original comment. I did get the closure I wanted, though. I got to live there as an adult and go everywhere I wanted to go. Within two years of leaving, I wanted to move back. I've felt that way since, but I'm certain that I'll be back someday.

@ Ethan Rathburn - The earliest citation of the name “Arkansan” is from an 1851 article in the Southern Quarterly Review. “Arkansawyer” comes along only in 1874, from J. M. Morphis's History of Texas. Other standard reference works generally state that “Arkansawyer” is an archaic form preferred by some natives of the state. It may be archaic but it is nevertheless my preference. Have a great day.

As a native born and raised Arkie I realize that we have our issues, just like everyone else. However, there are two things I will NEVER have to apologize for: the beauty of the state and the warm-hearted attitude of its people. I’ve literally traveled all over the world and whenever/wherever I've run into someone who’s either a fellow Arkansan or has every visited the state there are such wonderful things said about one and/or both. In fact, I constantly hear comments such as “my gosh, I can’t believe how beautiful your state is” or “you have some of the friendliest folks in the world”! Yep, wherever I go I’m so proud and grateful the spirit of the “Natural State” goes with me (and always will); that’s because “Arkansas, you run deep in me”!!

We had a couple of visiting professors from the University of Scotland in Glasgow who had traveled all the way over here to study the ancient bluffs along the Buffalo river. This was in 2016. It was my assignment to transport (drive) them where they needed to go, these 2 gentlemen completely fell in love with Arkansas and her charms, one of them said he would retire here if his wife would let him, I stayed in touch with him, and he now lives just outside of Harrison Ark. Just thought I'd share that with y'all.

During my many travels around the world I've met many folks who have been to Arkansas and almost universally they comment on both the beauty of the state and the genuine warmth of its people. I only smile and say that yes, I have been so blessed to have been able to call Arkansas my home for all these years. Beloved country songwriter and music creator advocate Wayland Holyfield has passed away at the age of 82. He was an ASCAP member for 43 years. Holyfield left an indelible mark on country music with his clever, deeply-felt songs. Throughout a decades-long career that took off soon after he left Arkansas for Nashville in the early 1970s, Holyfield wrote over 40 Top 10 hits and 14 #1s. His songs were recorded by dozens of the greatest artists in Nashville and beyond - including George Strait, Don Williams, Anne Murray, Brooks and Dunn, Reba McEntire, Randy Travis, Ronnie Milsap, Julio Iglesias, Crystal Gayle, Conway Twitty, Barbara Mandrell, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Charley Pride, The Oak Ridge Boys, John Anderson, Waylon Jennings, The Judds and George Jones, among many others. His songwriting credits include country classics like "Could I Have This Dance?," "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend," “Till the Rivers All Run Dry,” “You’re My Best Friend,” “You’re the Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had,” “Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer,” “She Never Knew Me,” “Put Your Dreams Away,” “Your Love Shines Through,” You’re Going Out of My Mind,” “Stop the Rain,” “Down in Tennessee,” “When You Get to the Heart,” “Wish I Had a Heart of Stone,” “She Reminded Me of You,” “Don’t Count the Rainy Days,” “The Blues in Black and White,” “Only Here for a Little While,” and “Meanwhile.” His song "Arkansas, You Run Deep in Me" was named the Arkansas State Song. ASCAP President Paul Williams commented: "With heavy hearts the ASCAP family mourns the passing of songwriter Wayland Holyfield who wrote among the most enduring country hits of his generation. Wayland served on the ASCAP Board of Directors for 24 years, during which time he was one of the most effective and fierce advocates for songwriters. We will miss his intelligence, his remarkable wit, and most of all his friendship." Holyfield was a lifelong advocate for the rights of songwriters. In addition to his two dozen years on the ASCAP Board (and four years on the ASCAP Board of Review), Holyfield was a past president of the NSAI, as well as past chairman of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Foundation Board. During his time on the ASCAP Board Wayland testified on behalf of songwriters and composers before both the Senate and House Judiciary Committees in Washington, DC. Some of his many accolades include induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, an ASCAP Country Songwriter of the Year award, the Nashville Songwriters Association International’s Presidential Award, a CMA Triple Play Award and two Top Country Hits Awards from Music City News. Holyfield is survived by his wife Nancy and their three grown children, Greg, Mark and Lee.

I’m from Missouri and grew up hating the Razorbacks. In a way I still do. I’ll explain. As the song says, my roots run deep in Arkansas. I’m the first generation of my family to be born and live outside of Arkansas. Following WWII, my parents moved from Arkansas to Missouri because there was the opportunity to purchase timber land in the Bootheel of Missouri. They worked and were able to buy the land they helped to clear. We went back to Arkansas every weekend. At the time, Arkansas meant nothing to me. Finally, in 1983, I met the girl I was to marry. I moved to Arkansas. Now after 40 years, and because my “roots” do run deep here, Arkansas runs deep in me. It’s the greatest place in the world to live and this is my favorite song.

I was looking for a video with an Arkansas song and this is exactly what I was looking for. Steve, this is awesome. Absolutely gave me goosebumps. I've always lived in NW Arkansas but last fall I got to really visit some of other parts of this great state which I've called home since 2002 (Expecially loved my trip to video Arkansas's native alligators at Bois D'Arc and Millwood Lake in SW Arkansas). I'm looking forward to visiting many other parts of Arkansas in the not to distant future. I love this song and this Video. Arkansas Runs Deep in Me Too! Thank you for this...

Today is the first time I’m hearing this song. I fell in love with it instantly. I’ve been to Arkansas a few times to visit family members. It’s a beautiful state with beautiful people.

I remember when AETN would sign off with this song. When we found out we were moving to Alaska, we made a copy to take with us. That was in 1995. Been back 25 years now, and never moving again.

Thank you French citizen (forgive me if I assume wrong.) Just know, lots of us Americans still remember what your beautiful country did for us in our fight for Independence. We also remember the ideals written by some of your most enlightened thinkers. Thoughts that inspired our Constitution and love for freedom. Thanks for your kind words, and much love from The South in good Ole USA.

My little sister first heard this song when a visitor called Miss Hannah came to work at her school. She is from Arkansas. At the time I had a visitor called Miss Tandy Jackson

Yeah I remember hearing this in class up until 5th grade like every week. So that would be 2010 when schools stopped caring about Arkansas History.

I was born in Miami FL but grew up in Northern Ark. I'm half a world away (Australia) but I am VERY homesick for my state. I knew this song from PBS/ AETN broadcast out of Mtn View on Channel 6. I love my state AND my country.

It's always fun and enjoyable to visit far away places but even better, when your coming home to Arkansas. I've always said; "when you live in paradise why leave" and I liken it to Costa Rica, anyone who has ever visited goes away singing it's praises and planning their next trip. Arkansas is a Natural State, enjoy the many hundred shades of green plants, the clear streams running over colorful clean rocks it's Natural not a man made landscape.
