Even when I was a Christian, I believed in the separation of church and state. Growing up, I had learned IN CHURCH that Jesus died because his country was essentially a theocracy!! So, I'm with American Atheists all the way, especially now!!

For those who think it is futile to debate or talk to religious people, it IS NOT! I was once a fundamental Christian but I watched the videos of "great" religious and creationist debaters and I saw flaws and fallacies in their arguments and logic and reason in the opposing side. So please post and like these videos to de-convert other young people who are being intellectually harmed by this revolting dogma! Edit: Thanks for the heart Paulogia! Keep up the awesome work man!

i hurt my shoulder, and i was wearing a sling at work today to keep it immobile (its really painful) and a customer put his hand on my shoulder and prayed out loud for god to heal me. no joking, no sarcasm, actually prayed out loud for god to fix it. when he was done he said "go ahead and check it, youll find its been healed". that was this morning. my shit feels exactly the same. FUCK. i didnt believe enough, or something. and he did ask me if he could pray for me, and i said sure, but i did not expect him to lay hands on me and do it right there! it took every ounce of strength in me to not bust out laughing though, so thanks for that at least!

I was saying in one of Aron's videos Ken Ham is the most dangerous creationist I know of, because we pass off an air of legitimacy Kent Hovind don't and an appearance of intelligence Ray Comfort lacks. @@TheKyrix82 It will not matter to a lot of Christians if he appears intelligent or not, you could literally prove that he was a con-man and even that would not necessarily be the end of him there is a large enough portion of Christians out there who are only interested in hearing that they are going to be saved or that the preacher can get God to help them if they are in a shitty situation, if Ken can do that he will always have an audience and supporters.

Methodologically though, Ham is as much a bottom feeder secondary source channeler as Kent Hovind is. Neither are core "fact" claimants in creationism, and Ham isn't even up on a lot of his own side's caveats (such as Ham repeating claim that the horse evolution sequence is bogus, a decade after the baraminologists decided ALL of them actually are related, called a "monobaramin" in their jargon).

@Ian M I'm certain with Kent Hovind, since he was pretty much peddling any woo that promised easy money. I'm fully certain, if there was money in selling communism, he would start singing the Internationale. With Ken Ham it's more tricky. I actually do believe him that he thinks there is a god, but also that this god doesn't mind if he made money with his name and if that involves swindling "non-believers" (read: Anyone not drinking his flavor of the kool-aid) god's gonna be allright with it.

In the octopus theory defense, this particular paper may be silly, but the DNA molecule folds very nicely into the face of the borax crystal. This matrix preserves the DNA perfectly under an enormous range of conditions, and it is very possible that, if DNA folded into a borax crystal was able to get into space, perhaps from a meteor impact onto a borax salt flat, it would be easy for it travel through space and survive reentry. I'd be cool with a field trip in which the school took kids to various religious organizations to teach them about religion. Less of a "this religion preaches true history" and more of a "these religions are a part of human history." I went to a Christian school and one of the best things they ever did for me was have a field trip that took us to a Mosque, two different synagogues from two different sects of Judaism, and several denominations of Christian churches. I only wish we could have also gone to see non-Abrahamic religions as well. The study of religion is cool with me as long as they're not being passed as fact.

I have since become an atheist and have been trying to learn as much as possible about science, evolution, and the failures of the church. Now, my parents and family are still very extremist in their religious beliefs. And now my wife and I expecting our first child in March. As someone who has been through what I have and is already a father, I would love if you could share your thoughts about raising your kids teaching them science, while your family and parents try to undermine that teaching? My wife and I are on the same page regarding all this but it worries me what my parents and family will say/teach my child and what will happen if we leave our kids at their house for the weekend. I've already had this conversation with my parents, but they said they "can't lie to their grandchild and they wont keep their opinions to themselves b/c their souls are forever." Thanks Paul!

A couple weeks ago we had about 30 below and windy, and we had to supplement the heat with a space heater. Then, the wind died down, and the heat kept up fine on its own. Wind matters.

why isnt giving these tours free an orchestrated attempt to avoid the turnstile tax? They should have to pay the tax on every visitor, it should be irrelevant if AIG gets paid for it.

To be clear, they may not promote a particular religion. They could offer this as an experiential opportunity - but that would require students to have the option to go or not go. And it would require the school to be a neutral arbiter - providing the opportunity without promoting.

Sadly, they were conned as much as anyone else. And since they've sunk so much money into this debacle, they have to stick with it in the vain hope of recouping some of their massive losses. They know full well they'll never see a dime of profit, but maybe their losses won't be as bad. Personally, I think that if they booted him out, and turned it into a laser-tag arena, or escape room attraction, they'd probably make a LOT more money.

@@agrippa71 umm... america, number 1? ... yeah, dipshit conservatives in america think college is for 'elites' ... which is bad, but only in this specific case i guess? Conservatives are fucking morons without logic... they think schools make you stupid, the government kills you, patriots kill Americans for tax breaks and profits for big businesses, and globalism is bad... cuz i guess never having a war ever again is bad? These backwards morons need put out of their misery. I'm so sad Ken Ham is an Australian but I'm not surprised he moved to America, and I can guarantee if the American Atheists had a park (e.g. like The Satanic Temple HQ in Salem) Ken Ham would be fighting it. Incidentally if American conservatives tell you that it's the extreme Left wing protesters like antifa that are the most violent show them this: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-wing_terrorism#/media/File%3AMurders_by_extremist_ideology_US.png *MAY THE FARCE BE WITH YOU!* As some Americans like to hid behind a wall of ego and cognitive dissonance I've comprised this list of factoids: WW3 Cold War WW4 War against Terror *WW5 USA vs China - Don’t be the victim!* The American national motto of "shoot first, ask questions later" is no way to live life. If you think today’s kids are hopeless, the next generation is so screwed! Something's gotta give! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Liveability_Ranking Nope, not an American city anywhere to be seen! "The United States of America is the top country by burglary in the world." At least four times other countries: knoema.com/atlas/topics/Crime-Statistics/Burglary-Car-Theft-and-Housebreaking/Burglary. 2nd highest country in the world for robbery. knoema.com/atlas/topics/Crime-Statistics/Assaults-Kidnapping-Robbery-Sexual-Rape/Robbery The USA has the highest homicide rate for a western country. 6th highest in the world: knoema.com/atlas/topics/Crime-Statistics/Homicides/Homicides Here's a stat for ya: www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2014/jan/17/lisa-bloom/americans-are-20-times-likely-die-gun-violence-cit/ Mass shooting everyday, well that's gotta suck: www.gunviolencearchive.org/reports/mass-shooting The USA still hasn't ratified women's rights or the Kyoto protocol, something even 3rd world countries have recognised the importance of. www.equalrightsamendment.org/era-ratification-map/ , worldat1c.org/a-brief-history-of-the-united-states-and-the-un-climate-change-negotiations-bf7525d4ef13 The USA has the world's largest national debt, more than three times even China with a billion people more: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_external_debt The USA is the second most polluted country in the world, it doesn't look good: www.activesustainability.com/environment/top-5-most-polluting-countries/ The USA has extraordinary high income inequality: ourworldindata.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/inequality-of-incomes-before-and-after-taxes-and-transfers.png Half the population of the USA are so poor they live week to week in a nation full of private schools and hospitals no one can afford: www.commondreams.org/views/2017/10/16/yes-half-americans-are-or-near-poverty-heres-more-evidence# The USA has the world highest prison population: www.prisonstudies.org/highest-to-lowest/prison-population-total?field_region_taxonomy_tid=All The USA is crony capitalist capital of the world with a crony capitalist game show president Trump, who despite his family's money sending him to the finest economic school he still went so bankrupt the banks were forced to bail him out otherwise his debt would of sent them all down. Despite the American president and American citizens describing the rest of the world as a "shithole", I'm glad I don't live in the USA. However I'm not so ignorant and self righteous to assume my country doesn't have serious problems, and for the time being there are nicer places to live. However each to their own. American culture is too dumb to realise you can't fight your way out of every situation, it just makes it worse... The USA just makes the same rookie mistake again, and again, and again. If unfortunately America was wiped out in a violent asteroid shower, the world wouldn't miss America as much as Americans think the world would. America is a very young country, and still has a lot to learn. During Trump's electoral camp I predicted that the only thing "great" Trump would make America, is greater ignorance and corruption. America 2019 is proving my point! It's like a deer in headlights! IMHO the world will see the wall as more uncalled for American mindless hostility and another target and sign of American weakness. Americans think they are untouchable, but it's not true! Americans speak of freedom, but they are too cowardly to die for justice!
