How is Young Earth creationism embarrassing to christians? Considering that the Bible clearly states in Genesis chapter 1 that the first morning and the first evening was " first day. And then it says that it was the second day the third day the fourth day? The key word there is " the ". Newer versions of the Bible says a day. It doesn't say the day. If you look in the Hebrew, from the original manuscripts, it says the first day the second day the Third day. Not only that, if the Earth is older than about 6,000 years old, then all of the timelines and all of the genealogies in the Bible are absolutely wrong. What about the fact that the prophets talk about the Earth being created in 6 days? They don't say that the Earth was created in six days, but they talk about specific days when things were created.

That whole exchange was excruciating. "It doesn't make sense, why would God create a world with death and disease and suffering for millions of years" "oh yeah? Well why would god punish all animals for the sins of mankind" Meanwhile I'm here shouting "why the fuck would god punish _me_ for _Adam's_ sins?". Is that just? Is that fair? The fact laid painfully bare in the bible itself is that the god of the bible _is not just or kind,_ and they have to constantly blame humans for being made ""wrong"" in order to excuse the flagrant cruelty of the petty, spiteful, genocidal tyrant who they claim made them that way.

I know this is an older video, but I've been watching/re-watching them because I'm in a mood to be amused by creationists lately. Plus, watching Christians argue with each other is always hilarious, so here we are. This one is particularly hilarious because the two "camps" are both trying to save their hemorrhaging religion. Walsh fears that creationist nonsense will turn off potential believers and/or cause current believers to abandon the faith -- which is true, of course! -- while Ham & Co.'s mission has never been about converting nonbelievers to Christianity, but rather about convincing saner Christians to accept creationist nonsense. They seem to think that if they offer an alternative to...well, reality that sounds plausible enough to people who aren't particularly literate when it comes to science, then they might prevent the faith from bleeding out as fast as it is. With the bonus of lining their pockets, of course. So both sides here recognize on some level that their religion is dying, but one side thinks that pushing creationism is the cure while the other side thinks that pushing creationism is the problem. Hilarious!
