Many years ago, I met Emmy Lou at an after concert party in Dublin, at the Shelbourne hotel. She was delightful. I have seen her many times, every concert was beautiful.

This song is as relevant now, maybe more. It made me cry, especially with evening news showing children being ripped away from their families. Arlo is in the middle of my name, I have always loved his music, and that word "music" is in my last name!

This is my favorite version of this song. I would love to find the video of Arlo and Emmylou recording this song for the Woody Guthrie Leadbelly documentary from the mid 1980's. When Emmylou sings their names is heartbreaking, almost enough to make you cry. And when she sings "600 miles from the Mexican border, they chase us like rustlers, like outlaws, like thieves", so heartfelt you can feel it.

I have an image in my mond of Emmylou's voice winding around Arlo's straight up style. I've never had voices inspire such a reaction before. I've imagined scenes that were inspired by the music, but never once have I seen the music as a physical presence.

I like all the different versions of this song, but Emmylou Harris does such amazing harmonies with everyone from Linda Ronstadt to Mark Knopfler.

@@hingerty3046 I have always wished to be Emmylou, and yes, she and Gram were legendary, but her work and life have gone on and been amazing, and she has been "herself". A long life-time of work. She would have been "discovered" one way or another.

This was the first Song I listened to Emmylou Harris's beautiful Voice. I'm a fan ever since. It was on a DVD named "A Vision Shared" - Tribute to Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly. I actually watched the DVD because of the Springsteen appearance on it.....

Kenny Miller, AmeriKKKa is made, entirely, of criminality, cruelty and corruption, no sugar, no spice or anything nice settlers would’ve died the first year but “Indians” saved them, we returned the favor with the worst, largest and longest lasting genocide in history, perpetrated by every president until virtually all the land was stolen from sea to shining sea, from long before wounded knee to standing rock it’s never really changed and never will we’ve turned the shining seas into tthe dying seas, shiny with oil, plastic and every chemical there is concurrent with the most brutal, largest and longest running race based chattel slavery in history nothing but the big lies, constant imperialist, colonialist and fascist war making, over throws, coups, assassinations, fascism in general, propaganda, hypocrisy, hegemony, manipulation, defamation, democracy prevention at home and world wide ever since, destruction of all life on earth thru pollution and climate change the only solution to preventing the 6th great extinction, which we have already started, from ending us all, that we’re working hard at (as we INCREASE fossil fuel use) is to end it all that much faster by INSISTING on starting wwIII we started with the greatest crimes in human history and have making the world a shithole ever since in more ways than you even know exist!!! what Russia is doing and has done in Ukraine with US created monster Putin is the tiniest mole hill compared to what the US has done just since 9/11, let alone history!!!! he is totally right about how the US & US funded and led nato have broken every deal and promise and have been surrounding them with threat and expansion and forcing thier hands if situation was reversed you’ve never heard anything close to the blizzards of outraged bullshit we’d be hearing about it 24/7!!!!!
